I like that they didn't get married. It makes it less fairy tale and more adventure. Thanks for the upload...and the SUBTITLES! :) It's so hard finding videos with subtitles.
A lot of people hate the ending. I love the ending! Phillip stayed faithful to his true love. And it wasnt a typical happy ending, but life isnt always fair.
@vayona12 ~ The reason it's not a normal ending for a Disney film is that it was not made by, or for, Disney. It was made for television by ITV Granada productions (UK). It just happened to be first shown on a Disney channel.
Maid marian was King Richard's cousin. That makes Philip & gwyn 2 cousins which I don't think was too uncommon in those days. & when did Robin of Locksley loose his nobleman status & become "just a theief"? I don't think king richard or anybody would strip him of his title just because he fought & stole for the poor, in the name of King richard, when tyrants gained power. So why is Gwyn "just a commoner"?
And this coming from one of the worst kings of England. John Lackland was hated by all of his subjects and forced to sign the Magna Carta that is the basis for American law today.
3 reasons this ending made no sense. 1) King makes the rules, could marry who they want. 2) She was not a commoner, by birth right. 3) If all else failed, knight (again) or "promote" her father ... ta da
thanks for uploading....is so sad that Gwyn is came from the peasant family not in a royal family....she could marry the king..........but she still happy with her father serving the king:)
Robin was also noble. He had his lands stripped from him but he was still of noble blood. Provided there was no arrangement with a foreign country for the hand of their princess, Gwen is a perfectly eligible candidate for queen as she descended from nobility on both sides.
I'm so disappointed that Gwyn and Philip didn't get married. It would have been a perfect ending, just like the ending that Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves had.
Wasn't Robin Hood of nobel blood and got back his lands after Richard returned to English throne? Gwyn was a daughter of a knight and a lady, not a common thief, i think they mixed something up ... Gwyn and Philippe could get married :D
@Stephanie Schnipke: I’m not a big fan of hers, but I agree. She is a really good actress. The only non-period movie I’ve seen her in is “Bend It Like Beckham” also starring Parminder Nagra (ER) and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (The Tudors).
and then the actress who played Gwyn, later becomes more famous by playing the famous Elizabeth Swan, in my favorite pirate series EVER!, in...Pirates of the Carribean.
No, Arthur of Camelot was married to Gwyn/Gwenivere - it was Lancelot who was in love with Gwenivere and never got married, because she was the queen and Arthur his best friend.
I've seen a lot of historical inaccurate movies that try to give a happily ever ending scenario for the good guys, but not even they go as far as to completely rewrite history.
unrequitted love... if it was another happily ever after, i think i would've been bored. so sad.. but geez, i'm not a little girl.... that twist is much appreciated.
I think the history is accurate to a point and why it doesn't have the happy ending everyone seems to want. I believe since Marion married a commoner, a commoner her children become but I could be wrong but doubt it.
O no, here she is always in his heart and he in hers as she would have him. Had she married, she would have been forced to stay in the castle, go against herself, become a servant instead of a free lover and creator. Marriage has gotten a bit better, though only depending in which country you live in and if you can be free from the brother religions and their slavery of all concerned..in that age they were freer this way to make love as they pleased.
"morganatic marriage" which is a marriage of two people of different class systems. It was not widely done, and not appreciated int the royal families. At that time 1199 England would not have accepted a commoner on the throne. Look at what happened to Anne Boleyn, she was not of royal blood, so Henry had her raised up to his standing by making her Marquess of Pembroke in effort to elevate her station....Still the people loathed her, as did most monarchs in Europe.
I've never heard of this movie so I clicked on this final part, but is that Sam Worthington from Terminator & Avatar? It looks like him just younger, but I like him now wayyyy better.
As I take it "pledged his heart" meant that they DID end up together romantically, just that they couldn't legally marry. But what's more important is that Gwyn continued to be a hero.
one of the best movies in the world. i sorta wish they could've got married. gwyn wouldn't have been like any other queen, but im glad they got to kiss once
Fortunately, this never happened. John did become King and did have illegitimate children, but in the end, his son Henry III became the king. I think we can all thank William Marshall for saving everyone in that era.
Sofia Becker Of course this entire movie is fiction except for the fact that Richard the lion heart did in fact have an illegitimate son. He was known as Philip of Cognac. That's about the only true thing in this movie. BUT the movie is great!
Hang about a second, Gwynn can't marry Phillip because she's a commoner? Since when? Marian, her mum, was related to King Richard (cousin I think) and Robin was earl of Huntingdon or somewhere. Doesn't strike me as being particularly common.
When I saw the name "Princess of thieves" I was like omg this is going to be another story of robin hood.....the scene/ part that we have never seen before and I was right :) ***_long live the king_*** May gwyn be with the king forever and may their love stay true :)
So in this alternate reality John I never becomes king? I guess that means the Magna Carta which limited the King's authority was never drafted up, and thus England would never have a Parliament? I guess that would also mean John's decendants such as his grandson Edward I never got to do important things for England. Not to mention his grandson Edward III who is considered the greatest medieval king in the history of Britain also will never make important accomplishments for the English people.
When I was younger I was disappointed that they didn't marry, but now that I'm older and watched Brave, I am actually glad it ended this way. Though, I'm not sure I really understand why she refused to marry him. "You will be king. I am a commoner." Could you try elaborating a bit more?
I disagree with the ending for it stated that she had no birthright. Technically she did, Robin was a Knight and a Lord. Marion was a Lady of royal blood. However Phillip wouldn't have been able to marry her so long as the Church denied them. Hence she was more or less his Mistress than a friend.
I'm glad they didn't get married...she would probably be seen more as a lady in the sexist eyes of that time, and had to stay around the castle doing queen things and poppin' out little royal brats. With her not having that particular title, she can now be closer to him in a different way, horseback riding along the country side..and... stuff besides, they still may have had their secret romantic encounters- leaves imagination to fanfiction (;
i view the end like this, they didn't get married. which sucked but i imagine them secretly meeting in the middle of the night and playing prince and princess. :3
No "And they lived happily ever after"? What kind of disney movie is this? Besides, Robin Hood was the son of a Noble man and Marion was from the Royal family. She's not a woman with "no birthright"
Not only was robin a knight, he was also the Earl of Huntington and Lord of Locksley (I guess thats debatable) and Marian was a Lady, so ya technically Gwyn has every right to marry Philip. Actually, Philip's a bastard... So he's even lower than Gwyn LOL
I fell in love with this when I first watched it . . . And I have again.
Dang! I wanted Gwyn and Philip to get married so bad!
@vayona12 ~ The reason it's not a normal ending for a Disney film is that it was not made by, or for, Disney. It was made for television by ITV Granada productions (UK). It just happened to be first shown on a Disney channel.
Thanks a lot for posting this excellent movie
0:30 Gets the crown and, instead of wearing it, treats it like the Stanley Cup :D

My toughts exacly
agree
Merci pour ce film ! Il est génial et la qualité est super !
(Thanks for the movie. It's great, and the quality is really great !)
"History will ignore you"... Darn right, I've never heard of them before. lol!
And this coming from one of the worst kings of England. John Lackland was hated by all of his subjects and forced to sign the Magna Carta that is the basis for American law today.
You wouldn't want to wear the torture devices that come with the dress, but sort of agree with you lol.
The different kind of princess. Not really like the one in fairytales but in a different aspect. I would love becoming this kind of princess. ^_^
Weirdly enough, I like the end of this movie. A cheesy ending would have ruined it.
I agree.
This movie literally changed my life.
sad that they did not end up together.but it show that they are great people^^
thank you very much for sharing.
I enjoy watching the movie.
Thanks for uploading! This is awesome quality!
Waoow! Thank you so much for setting this in :D I'am so glad i finally got to see it :D
Why the hell can't be married ... Cinderella married a prince !
I believe it actually means that they were not able to be together, but that he never stopped loving her. They continued to love each other from afar.
they should have gotton married
They really should have gotten married :(
3 reasons this ending made no sense. 1) King makes the rules, could marry who they want. 2) She was not a commoner, by birth right. 3) If all else failed, knight (again) or "promote" her father ... ta da
Wow what a great movie!
And then, Phillip grew up and changed his name to Bill Compton--King of Louisiana!! LMAO
thanks for uploading....is so sad that Gwyn is came from the peasant family not in a royal family....she could marry the king..........but she still happy with her father serving the king:)
Maybe I haven't watched this movie before when I was a kid but it made me cry at the end of the movie
I ordered this movie from Amazon I'm excited to watch it
Buff. You can do anything for your love 💕.Right?🗽🏵🎤🔦.
A very Good Movie !

i like the way it ended and the dialogue which the villian said at 15 secs came true, really the history ignored king phillip
No one is stopping youuuuuuuuu
Cute !!
It makes me want to go to England and in Nottingham exactly. ^_^
@Stephanie Schnipke: I’m not a big fan of hers, but I agree. She is a really good actress.

She was about 15-16 years old when acting in that movie :)

Keira Knightly played Esther in the movie One Night with the King

0.46 that's a neck length to rival will scarlett's (harry lloyd) in bbc RH xD
HHAAAAHAAA I CAN NLY LAUGH WATCHING THIS MOVIE!
unreal ending, fantastic movie
REALLY bad. It didn't happen like this at all in real history.
@Charlotte2791 really, robin loxely is really populair in England, and she told him Robin hood/loxely is her father, so i think point 2 isn't right.
unrequitted love...
if it was another happily ever after, i think i would've been bored.
so sad.. but geez, i'm not a little girl.... that twist is much appreciated.
what a feeling!!!
I think the history is accurate to a point and why it doesn't have the happy ending everyone seems to want. I believe since Marion married a commoner, a commoner her children become but I could be wrong but doubt it.

0:59 Richards's cousin's daughter is a commoner?
i like the ending........because you know they had secret sexytimes
"morganatic marriage" which is a marriage of two people of different class systems. It was not widely done, and not appreciated int the royal families. @Hinzmana i think he got lost on his way to fangtasia to visit eric
oh i love her dresses!!! why can't we still dress like thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
@rlmurray89 is it really? it does look like him!
so when phillip dies? who sits upon his throne?
now that was a good ending.
Such a great movie, but i hate that there not together at the end T.T
@Lili8015 I never recall saying that he WAS king.
I will forever think of Kiera Knightly as Natalie Portman's body double.
@MarianaPhoenix yes but once richard was gone robin was stripped of all that and once again became no more then a theif.
If it makes anyone feel better...Philip never really existed. After Richard died, John became King.

@DreamLand140 weeeell they sort of are. but yeah no happy end with kiss and marriage :(
Hang about a second, Gwynn can't marry Phillip because she's a commoner? Since when? Marian, her mum, was related to King Richard (cousin I think) and Robin was earl of Huntingdon or somewhere. Doesn't strike me as being particularly common.
actually it was arthour of camelot who loved a Gwyn and never got married... but this is good too...
Ugh y didn't they get married? !!?ugh! But good movie oother wise! Thanks for posting this I looked for the movie every where
When I saw the name "Princess of thieves" I was like omg this is going to be another story of robin hood.....the scene/ part that we have never seen before and I was right :)
***_long live the king_***
May gwyn be with the king forever and may their love stay true :)

yeah totally. Esp after this last season team Eric all the way. Canny wait for the new season to start back up. :D
When I was younger I was disappointed that they didn't marry, but now that I'm older and watched Brave, I am actually glad it ended this way. Though, I'm not sure I really understand why she refused to marry him. "You will be king. I am a commoner." Could you try elaborating a bit more?
so what youre saying is... Philip never produced an heir..?
I still feel really bad for Frodrick. He got the short end of the stick.
I disagree with the ending for it stated that she had no birthright. Technically she did, Robin was a Knight and a Lord. Marion was a Lady of royal blood. However Phillip wouldn't have been able to marry her so long as the Church denied them. Hence she was more or less his Mistress than a friend.
@foreverheaven100 true ... so they stayed true to facts. Tks.
I'm glad they didn't get married...she would probably be seen more as a lady in the sexist eyes of that time, and had to stay around the castle doing queen things and poppin' out little royal brats. With her not having that particular title, she can now be closer to him in a different way, horseback riding along the country side..and... stuff
besides, they still may have had their secret romantic encounters- leaves imagination to fanfiction (;
@EmoLifeOver "sweat"? Lol.
he's not evil, just numb....Everyone changed during season 4.....I still root for Bill Compton regardless lol
Shouldn't she have a title? Her mother was a lady and some sort of cousin to the royal family?
King John was right. History DID ignore Philip and Gwen. Or was it the scriptwriter who ignored history?
why did it end like that...come on ...a really baaaad ending 😟
@Lmoviexoxo12 My thoughts EXACTLY. Even though technically they should have even been able to marry.
Hey, what happened to Will? Poor guy once they find him, they shove him to a forgotten corner and spaz out about the whereabouts of Robin.
i view the end like this, they didn't get married. which sucked but i imagine them secretly meeting in the middle of the night and playing prince and princess. :3
No "And they lived happily ever after"? What kind of disney movie is this?
Besides, Robin Hood was the son of a Noble man and Marion was from the Royal family. She's not a woman with "no birthright"
It is Knightley. They spelled Knightly 5:39
omg! that's bill :-O
actually, she's something between 5'7" and 5'10", so by average, she's rather tall
Vampire Bill...? What happened to your accent?
Not only was robin a knight, he was also the Earl of Huntington and Lord of Locksley (I guess thats debatable) and Marian was a Lady, so ya technically Gwyn has every right to marry Philip.
Actually, Philip's a bastard... So he's even lower than Gwyn LOL
since phillip was an illigitement son, why cant they make their own illigitement child themselves?
I wanted to see babies at the end of the show and a big wedding ring on Gwyn's finger!
OMG!!!! I DIDN'T KNOW BILL IS A KING???!!!!???
BILL WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
@ EMOLIFEOVER i kno i kno i want a pledge i wish to live in that era but it is GONE TEARS
i love keira :)
i wish they married hm well it still a nice movie
