    In this video, I guide you through how you can independently achieve a 7+ in the TMUA admission exam. The editing of the video was rushed in order to publish it as soon as possible (before my holiday), so apologies if there are any mistakes.
    These tips helped me achieve a Grade 7 in the TMUA and 2 interviews with Cambridge for Computer Science

    If you are looking for a YT Channel to guide you through Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 to Grade 9s at GCSE and As/A*s at A Level, you have come to the right place!
    My name is Tamra, and I achieved Grade 9s in all of my subjects at GCSE. However, I was not always achieving Grade 9s in Year 11. I actually went from a Grade 6 to Grade 9 in English Language - I did this by changing my mindset, how I looked, and answered the questions.
    Now, I am completing 5 A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science, Physics and Music, and I have 4/4 offers so far to study Computer Science at uni.
    With hard work and my (free) guidance, you will be able to get higher grades and perhaps even all 9s in your final exams if you put your mind to it. Anything is possible :). Feel free to like, comment, or subscribe if this helps you. I hope to see you in the next video.

    Why is no one talking about over-studying? Am I the only one? And I don’t mean I study -that much- even, but when I did only TMUA for like 4 days I actually got worse. Am I the only one with a reverse cognitive bias or psychological issue?

    • @loppol6035
      @loppol6035 Місяць тому

      Update - practise. The reason people don’t talk about these mental aspects of the TMUA is A. They’re temporary and B. Talking or thinking more about them might amplify the effects of such cognitive biases. Practise can always lead to metacognitive self reflections, for those who overthink their own psychology like me, so there is always a way to counteract it. Just practise and get better, everyone.

    Hi! Thank you for uploading this video, it's quite helpful. I've learnt all of the contents on the specification and everything I need for paper2, but unfortunately I don't have access to the textbook or Ninja questions. Do you think I would definitely need to get those resources? Or I can just do all of the past papers many times and time myself to get a high score on the actual exam.

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  5 місяців тому +1

      Try and use the past papers first, and if you can see yourself improving without the other resources then you're good! If you do need more practice, it would be useful to invest in more questions, however most resources help with paper 1 rather than paper 2

    hey thanks for the video it was really insightful. Im not really a huge begginer but i was wondering if it would be possible for me to get to that 7+ range by the time of the first round of TMUA (16th or 17th october) while im currently sitting at the 4-5 range.

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  6 місяців тому +3

      I think it's definitely possible! You still have at least 2 full months to work on the TMUA and I found that the skills you learn in the first month of Y13 are useful (you can do a lot in one month).

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  5 місяців тому

      The specific TMUA course on AMSP is not free but there are free TMUA/MAT classes like the screenshot I showed in the vid. If the spaces on that program are full, it might be worth signing up to the problem solving classes.

    • @tamratips

      R2drew2 has good topic questions but I'm not sure of any other resources than what I mentioned. I did organise the past papers by topic by myself so you could do the same and cover one topic at a time.

    Hello! I really need some guidance. Ive purchased everything you have mentioned in the video, and over the past weeks ive been working through ALOT of practice questions on TMUA ninja. However, I feel like im not improving at ALL. I am frequently guessing / or inputting incorrect answers on these practice questions. Did you feel the same way? Or is this just the universe telling me that mathematics is not my strong suit?

    • @teaclocked
      @teaclocked 5 місяців тому

      And I actually try my best to understand all the solutions, but I feel like it only helps me to answer similar questions to it in the future, but once another hard and unfamiliar question comes up my brain just doesent work.

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey, like you said, understanding the answers are the best way forward. Have you tried redoing the questions you get wrong from scratch (I.e. not just understanding but physically writing out the solutions without looking at the answer)? Are you guessing or inputting correctly after 3 minutes or are you giving yourself more time? If after 3 minutes, try and solve the question in your own time and then once you start to improve, then perhaps limit the time little by little. The TMUA style questions do take a while to get used to. I certainly found it hard when I was first starting out so you are not alone! Let me know if you still need advice and I'll be happy to get back to you!

    Imperial says that they advise we sit the TMUA in October for compsci, but im thinking of sitting it in January because i will have more time to revise, Idk what do you suggest?

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  6 місяців тому +2

      It depends if you've covered all the content by October and if you're an Oxbridge applicant. Oxbridge applicants are early entry, so they sit the TMUA in October regardless. Otherwise, the advantages of sitting it early are that you get interviewed earlier and hear back earlier when there are many spaces available. Disadvantages of sitting it in January are that applicants may already have received offers by then (I received an offer end of November) which may make you feel more stressed. However, you will get the extra revision time as you said. In addition, although you have more revision time, it means it's one more thing you have to focus on alongside your A levels/IB. Something to think about!

    Is now a good time to start - if so what should we be doing the papers straight away?

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  6 місяців тому +3

      Now is a great time to start if you are sitting it this year. First, make sure that you know all the content on the spec. Then maybe sit the spec paper to see what mark you are getting. Based on the mark, decide if you need more practice before doing papers or not.

    • @ZaWarudo_TokiWoTomare
      @ZaWarudo_TokiWoTomare 4 місяці тому +2

      If I were you right now, I would self-study all the spec for the TMUA.
      Then, do all the pure AS past papers for your specification.
      Then do all the TMUA and MAT (if you want to go Oxford) papers in the order they came out. You can find MAT papers as old as 1996 on the MAT Ninja website.
      Also, try to do something for your personal statement during holidays (read a maths book, do a MOOC, etc.)
      At a minimum, I would start prep for the TMUA after your mock exams (mine were in May in year 12). But if you can start earlier, please do.

    Love this video, do u think if i start now i still have time to get a 7 in the TMUA in October and how much revision should i be doing for it every day, how much did u do and when did u start revising . I’ve only attempted one past paper and got 4/20 on it. Thanks sm for all the tips!!

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  5 місяців тому +2

      If you know all the content already then it's just about practice. Practice makes perfect! Try and complete questions daily. Since it's closer to October than I started, perhaps do 15 or 20 practice questions a day. This should only take around an hour. When you mark your questions, make sure you fully understand the answer and maybe try and redo the questions at the end of the day to prove that you know how to get the correct answer. Hope this helps!
