Remember hearing this for the first time on my family's brand new Sony stereo system that our father bought us in 1982. Have to think my big brother for introducing me and my sister to Heaven 17. Still sounds amazing!
I owned all 3 albums mentioned. I just finished listening to Cupid and psyche before putting this on. Lexicon of love definitely is in the rotation.. Mantrap was a masterpiece
One of the most memorable albums of my undergraduate years. One of my girlfriends loved it, too. The cassette player rewound to the beginning over and over.
Just found this down one of the many rabbit holes you tube offers. Loved these guys in the 80's. Memories of the arcades on Felixstowe seafront and the crappy jukeboxes. Aged very well.
Omg so true it's depressing, it was yesterday when I was 15 '16 in HS when this came out and now it's 40 yrs later and I am 56 so bummed out about were the time went. Where did it go. God bless
Can you imagine both Phil Oakey and him standing side by side today. They’d pass up as brothers. Lol! These were the same guys that were originally members of The Human League before they went their separate ways to form Heaven 17.
😉🎶👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 me too 🙃💯✌🏼&💜 Soma the best music eva&now all gettin samples/d with the best of artists👌🏼💯 D-ream🙏💝Makes me wana have access to a STUDIO & miX so many shit hot trax with any1👐🏼n2 real artists 🌍 R&B & RAP genre💫🎶🌍💯 .. &miX&vocalise ❣
Tantastic album, together with the new gold dream best albums of that time , for me ad least. OMG they where good, they still good 😀. Great voice great ritmic , great band !!!!!!!
To correct an earlier comment, although Angie Brown has worked with Heaven 17, the exceptional blonde singer at this performance is Billie Godfrey, who's been a member of the band since the mid 90s.
Remember trying to get this album back in the 80's, no one had it. Finally found it at Colony Records in Times Square, hard to get imports. Kick ass bass going on here, band sounds really good.
Really? In New York? I was in Southern California and every independent record store had this (and many other) cassettes/albums from the UK thanks to the KROQ influence. The Face magazine kept us in the know but the order was London, New York and the the rest of us (L.A. included).
This was and IS a badass base line!! As much as I love this song, and as tight as it is...that bass line drives it! Thanks for sharing! So much for electronic music being push button no effort junk. TIGHT band!!
Billie Godfrey is sensational. The rest of the band aint bad either. That bass and drum combo is spotless, super funky, super clean, super groovy. Amazing performance.
@@darrenlee1938 thank you for knowing about John Wilson. He played both guitar and bass on this album and has never really received the recognition he deserved.
Brilliant. The only problem is trying to match 80's production live. Difficult. And nobody can get close enough to Carol Kenyon on Temptation. Never head anyone match that vocal.
I have the album, so great to see them perform it live. 'Witchita Lineman' really surprised me. It's a beautiful song by Glen Campbell, and they did a wonderful rendition of it...that, and 'Boots' showed they're not afraid to step outside of their 'box' and try different things. I liked the fact that they gave the bass player the role of 'lead guitar' as it worked well and he was fantastic, as were the others. Wished I could have seen them live.
I would've liked to have seen John Wilson the wicked bass slap master here but, Jules Crampton keeps the spirit true, great stuff! fantastic big respect many thanks
What a terrific performance from a band I grew up with in my youth, so pleasing to see all well, and performing such a masterclass act of this great album :) Glen has lost his hair, like me, lol!, but all good :D
Wow, I just saw this and OMG -where have you guys been?! Love this performance..please come to NY!!!! Glenn's vocals have always give so much presence to the group!! He's amazing as ever (I get chills!)
Hy! My name is Cassiano, from Brazil, i'm very very fan of Heaven 17, does anyone here have the full dvd of this show and could post in full dvd with the original menus in rutracker or some other torrent? because the original is out of print already and would love to have this item. a hug to all |
Brilliant maximum rating.. But hey, they could have used that sax on the Penthouse & Pavement song... Nevertheless very very close to all the originals!!
Don't they look tall!? Don't they look thin? Ah. That's because this video's aspect ratio has been squashed from the correct 16:9 to an unwatchable 4:3. What a shame.
great cool Music on the Dance floor cool old but super good Dancefloor Music ever old Music but so fresh and new in year 2015let me Hearing the new Album full of new song s and Music i like These Music greating s to the band Peter from Germany peter
Remember hearing this for the first time on my family's brand new Sony stereo system that our father bought us in 1982. Have to think my big brother for introducing me and my sister to Heaven 17. Still sounds amazing!
This is certainly one of the great albums of the 80s, along with Lexicon of Love, Cupid and Psyche 85 and Fantastic!.
Not forgetting That’s What I Call Music 7
I owned all 3 albums mentioned. I just finished listening to Cupid and psyche before putting this on. Lexicon of love definitely is in the rotation.. Mantrap was a masterpiece
Totally agree!
No argument from me there. Great albums all!
Give me back my 80's!!!!!!!!!
9 years on and you're probably wishing that even more desperately - I know I am!!!!
This band is all about the bass player. That's how it was in the eighties and still is. Amazing.
Then Mark King slapped a Bass 🎶👌
And now its all about the keyboards. No guitars to be found at their concerts it seems.
This concert is ten years past and yet it is like visiting a future that never quite gets here for the rest of us.
Bass player deserves a medal for pulling that lot off live and faultless...
Agreed! Who is on bass?
Lovely Billie deserves her Chateau in France. Her voice earned every penny!!!!
Who is she?
She kilt (sic) it
One of the most memorable albums of my undergraduate years. One of my girlfriends loved it, too. The cassette player rewound to the beginning over and over.
I remember being a university exchange student in London (from the US) when this came out and listening to it non-stop in my dorm room.
Fantastic group , extreme good singer and the back up vocals of the man on the synthesizer is making it unforgettible ....
The man on the synthesizer would be one of the founding members of both Heaven17 and Human League - Martyn Ware.
So dynamically accurate to the studio versions. Very impressed.
Awesome Concert !!! 👌👌👌
Just found this down one of the many rabbit holes you tube offers. Loved these guys in the 80's. Memories of the arcades on Felixstowe seafront and the crappy jukeboxes. Aged very well.
What a time when all the these band were new and exciting simply brilliant
Omg so true it's depressing, it was yesterday when I was 15 '16 in HS when this came out and now it's 40 yrs later and I am 56 so bummed out about were the time went. Where did it go. God bless

Penthouse and Pavement / Luxury Gap
Thanks, Glenn , Martin, Ian , ;)
What a fantastic band.
Can you imagine both Phil Oakey and him standing side by side today. They’d pass up as brothers. Lol! These were the same guys that were originally members of The Human League before they went their separate ways to form Heaven 17.
Mitchell Brothers type vibe 😎
Wow this is awesome, Glenn Gregory's voice is superb!
I totally agree. I'm shocked as usually the voices change so much not always for the better.
These were pure 80s class,,, Excellent
Believe I was 13 or 14 and fall in Love with this album. Now I`m old, but still love it so much ;D!
your not old the music is fine !!!! lol

I'm going there next.
To correct an earlier comment, although Angie Brown has worked with Heaven 17, the exceptional blonde singer at this performance is Billie Godfrey, who's been a member of the band since the mid 90s.
Thank you - this is the comment I was looking for
This is my first time seeing her but she killed every note
Boah der Bassist. Stark. Guter Mann.
Imagine if this was your mums and dads, kids. Wouldn't you be proud.
Remember trying to get this album back in the 80's, no one had it. Finally found it at Colony Records in Times Square, hard to get imports. Kick ass bass going on here, band sounds really good.

Bought this album early 80s. I was 13. Halcyon days
I was there it was a great gig !
This was and IS a badass base line!! As much as I love this song, and as tight as it is...that bass line drives it! Thanks for sharing! So much for electronic music being push button no effort junk. TIGHT band!!
This is fantastic - listen on headphones loud to really appreciate just how good they are...one of my favourite bands..
Garretwest External 2020 still jammin’ at 55!! Headphones are fallin apart

Very good memories and vibrations...
Welcome back to the 80´s!!! Unforgotten and a it´s still alive!!!
Billie Godfrey is sensational. The rest of the band aint bad either. That bass and drum combo is spotless, super funky, super clean, super groovy. Amazing performance.
John Wilson, thanks for being such a bad-ass bass player!
superb int he, so cool to actually see him
That's not John Wilson.. he was a left handed black guy..disappeared from the biz years ago
The fine bass player here is Julian Crampton.
@@darrenlee1938 thank you for knowing about John Wilson. He played both guitar and bass on this album and has never really received the recognition he deserved.
Love this so good !!!!!!
Thanks so much....
Awesome! Thanks for posting.

fantastic. I saw them in London in 2008. Great memories...
Brilliant. The only problem is trying to match 80's production live. Difficult.

Alchemy when the Gods make gold from clay
Please can somebody tell me who the astonishing bass player is? Making it look so easy. Stunning.
Mean have ;)
H17 gigs are not the same without Billie. Rachel and "Tracey" ('can't remember) are not bad at all. They are great, but Billie. What an absolute star!
Wait,..!
Hold on,...?
The female vocalist must have grown up in the First Missionary Baptist Church of (Insert urban American city here).
Soulful AF.
Brilliant maximum rating.. But hey, they could have used that sax on the Penthouse & Pavement song... Nevertheless very very close to all the originals!!
why is not anyone recognizing drummer?
She's called Angie Brown.
Don't they look tall!? Don't they look thin? Ah. That's because this video's aspect ratio has been squashed from the correct 16:9 to an unwatchable 4:3. What a shame.

I have it in vynil
Eu tambem Carlos :)
Dos Heaven 17 sei que se formaram a partir de uma cisão dos Human League. White funk com mensagem política, boa música dos 80.
Was ist mit der Originalsängerin von Temptation passiert?
