This is a talk-heavy video, which is something quite different for me, so no need for the usual massive description!
This is a great guitar, I highly recommend you go and play when ASAP.

Swain Bjornstrandt Thanks, dude. Comments like this are awesome. If the Ibanez FRIX6FEAH and FRIX7FEAH are of interest to you, they'll be getting the same treatment very soon!

I wouldn't expect the PAF to sound like that either, but wow, your video proved me wrong, great review
Liking the new format as well

Thanks for the kind words! Expect to see a few more upcoming videos in this style, but I don't aim to be replacing the full-song playthroughs and whatnot.
As for the PAFs, I was really surprised, but I'm looking forward to eventually putting some BKP Juggernauts in this. I absolutely love the 6 string versions in my RGDIX6MPB and, seeing as the specs on that guitar are pretty close to this 7 string, I reckon the Juggs would slay in this!

Damn 3:58 , came for the ibanez, think you might have sold me an axe 2 with that tone !!

Batsinthebelltower Can’t say I blame you. I have a lot of fun with the Axe FX. If you can get a deal on an Axe FX 2, or get an AX8 new, I’d go for it!

Hey Alex, im looking at RG7PCMLTDe or perhaps the JBM27 for recording metal - which one would you recommend? For shredding as well as clean...thanks

Great review but disappointed the camera was out of focus.

Christopher Connelly Completely agree with you on that one. I tried to fix it with sharpening effects and the like, but I definitely learned a lesson the hard way: If it sucks, redo it. Funny thing is, as a musician, I should’ve just known that!

Hey man, I have the same guitar and I am struggling to put some thicker strings onto it.
I was just wondering, did you had any issues with the strings popping out of the tremolo when you tried to tune it? Is there any special position for the stoppers to be when you're putting new strings? Cheers!

Marin Ioan What strong gauges and tuning are you using? I would typically remove the stoppers, put the string in and go about restringing that way. Be careful, though, those things are so easy to lose. I have also bought Ibanez guitars with damaged stoppers in the past. They were great for the stock strings, but my 64 gauge B string would encounter issues. Also trying pressing the string into the saddle prior to tuning, I found that to help.
Check my latest video. I’m using Mayones guitars with Hipshot bridges nowadays. Can’t fault them at all, but they are definitely in a different league to this guitar.

Thanks for the quick response, Alex!
I am using a similar set to yours: D'addario 9-64. Some sort of a "skinny top heavy bottom".
Managed to restring it yesterday after the strings popped a couple of more times. It's only about the stoppers and the lack of adherence that they have in contact with the string. This guitar is too beautiful and will be my workhorse for a while, so I am trying to make it run as smoothly as possible, and not panic everytime I'm playing it that I'm going to get whiplashed by the strings:D.
      Cheers, you have my subscribe!

How does this compare to your jbm27?

Looking back on it, I think I preferred the playability of the Premium, but wish I had the 26.5” scale length and Dimarzio Titans of the JBM27. If I had to pick one or the other, I reckon I’d go with the Premium.

clark thompson It’s from a video I’ve yet to finish up. In the new year, I’ll be working on putting out an EP of some kind featuring the tracks I’ve used on my channel.
I’ll be sure to keep you in mind once the video is finished and once the EP goes live.
For now, make sure you’ve subscribed and clicked the bell to get push notifications for future videos!

alexlucasmusic that break down sounds gnarly. Would love a video going over some of your mixing techniques.

clark thompson Most of the stuff I learnt about mixing and stuff is just from UA-cam videos and an online course or two. The video I’m currently planning is a sort of “2017 review”, just talking about this year’s videos, their performance and what I’m hoping for/ working towards in 2018. Night need to get off my ass and finish a few WIP videos I have, too!
