Came here from watching this guy conduct Jupiter...gotta say he's one of the most emotional conductors i've ever seen. Brilliant pieces, both of them!!!
Eiji Oue, simply the best! This performance belongs on DVD, or at the very least CD. Eiji has masterfully married the phenomenal individual skills of Osaka's premiere orchestra, extracting a world class performance. I have no choice but to rip this. Eiji, if you're reading this, make it available to us, please!
Chose this vid because I consider Japanese people extraordinary, the dedication they have for everything they do is what makes them unique. My 2 cents.
I like the addition of Cornets! in the Trompet register not just because Im a fan of Brass Band sound, it just makes it softer! At all: very good ideas!!!
@Komnenit ...agree with you totally...Rachmaninov, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Borodin and Tchaikovsky, of course to name a few...their music is replete with wonderful, soul-moving melodies...not to mention their great pianists, violinists, ballet dancers, orchestras and so on.. sd goh (malaysia)
It might have been off ever so slightly because youtube is like that but just for the future info conducters are ment to move slightly before the note or whatever is played :) and it is a great piece i agree!!!
heh this symphony is actually telling the story of Napoleon's invasion, the start of the battle of Borodino, the bloody French victory and in the end about napoleon's ultimate defeat. beautiful.
People like want they want to like. Don't blame them. If you insult them by not hearing this music, they'll never hear this with attention but if you are kind to them perhaps they'll like someday.
In my opinion, Eiji Oue is the bes conductor. He has an "I love this music so much" face and he's very enthusiastic, unlike european conductors, who look like they hate to be conducting and think the musicians are awful, not all of them, but generally
@AnAmatureVideo Although I do greatly enjoy this piece and have seen it performed by multiple orchestras, it is strange that this is one of, if not the, most well known pieces of the romantic era when Tchaikovsky himself said it is "very loud and noisy, but [without] artistic merit, because I wrote it without warmth and without love."
@Jinxed44 Well, I don't know about length of pieces (though I do find it difficult to *just* listen to a piece without having something else to do at the same time), but I agree there are too many smug classical music listeners. It's one of the main reasons I stopped listening for such a long time, because I didn't want to be that sort of person. Thankfully I later got into it of my own accord. I can enjoy other genres of music as well; I just love them in different ways.
Everyone that loves this (excellent) conductors face and thinks he's just really into in the music.... I'd laugh if he really was just plain old constipated and nothing else. Brilliant performance, with extra points for going through it while constipated.
@brownie1982ad i agree with you on that point. im just saying that it was a poor choice of word to say when not to attack instead of when to attack because theyre completely different in terms of military strategy.
It's always an absolute pleasure to see maestro Eiji Oue conducting.

I can't wait to hear what this guy will do to my favorite pieces of music! He and his Orchestra are quintessential gems
The opening notes brought tears to my eyes.
I love how this conductor is able to put his every emotion into the song. Its like watching Tchaikovsky himself conduct the piece.
GENIUS!!!!!!!!
this Overture and that Orchestra it's amazing
This conductor is pretty amazing. His passion is pretty damn contagious. Awesome!
Just awesome! Awesome! Awwwwesome!
Well, they also have Eiji Oue as their conductor. What a privilege! He is amazing!
Chose this vid because I consider Japanese people extraordinary, the dedication they have for everything they do is what makes them unique. My 2 cents.
Next to Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries", Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" is my top favorite classical piece. Cannot get enough of it!!!
He conducts with ever limb and facial expression, and it works so well!!
Most amazing piece of music ever, I wish we played this in our band!
bravo, maestro. conduction to perfection. simply inspirational. domo arigato.
I like the addition of Cornets! in the Trompet register not just because Im a fan of Brass Band sound, it just makes it softer!
At all: very good ideas!!!
doesn't matter because that's all in the past... Now is the time to get over those wars and listen to the wonderful music. =)
spectacular! love this piece and the history behind it.
The best version I have heard in ages based on...
...how it made me feel.
I love Osaka philharmonic! And the concertmaster is great
Very enthusiastic conductor. Great performance.
I like the addition of Cornets! in the Trompet register; very good idea cuz that makes it softer!
At all: very good ideas!!!
i luv how the violinist rock together back and forth... lol great song just fabulus
Goddamn, I love Eiji Oue. This man truly loves what he does.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! IT IS MI FAVOURITE!!
That's sheer emotion right there. Powerful.
This was really fantastic! It's really fun to watch and his face at 3:33 is also very funny :)
This is quite incredible!
The section beginning at 4:29 is terribly difficult to perform - what clarity in the strings!!! very beautifully performed .
I have nothing more to say for this, but, Brilliant.
@ce1lo Aw, man. He was nearly crying. That's so sad, yet so sweet. It's nice to see a conductor as involved with the music as his musicians are.
all people need to get over everything and live in harmony. EVERYONE!!!
Great performance!
Amazing performance
EXCELLENT
これは一番です。
id sell my heart and live off a heart pump til i die to play in an orchestra like this
Mi interpretación favorita es esta :3
good fantastic bravisimo
Maestro Eiji Oue and the concertmaster Kota Nagahara are the best combination ever.
excellent indeed!
7:55 What an amazing flute solo. So much character.
@AnAmatureVideo Agreed to the max...My favourite Tchaikovsky piece is Violin Concerto in D...
Love this
Excellent.
tchaikovsky is incredible!!
It might have been off ever so slightly because youtube is like that but just for the future info conducters are ment to move slightly before the note or whatever is played :) and it is a great piece i agree!!!
This piece is very heart touching. It signifies how Napoleon retreated and lost most of his Grand Armee in Russia.
Eiji Oue is dancing with his hands to the music
:D
That is a bloody big orchestra! :o
ラ・マルセイユを入れちゃうところがすごい。チャイコフスキーもいいですね。
amazing!
i'm playing this in my middle school band, uber fun!
Excelent!
samurai touch. beasts.
heh this symphony is actually telling the story of Napoleon's invasion, the start of the battle of Borodino, the bloody French victory and in the end about napoleon's ultimate defeat.
beautiful.
I liked this guy.
Awesome
People like want they want to like. Don't blame them. If you insult them by not hearing this music, they'll never hear this with attention but if you are kind to them perhaps they'll like someday.
i love this song because it appeared in "V for Vendetta" :D
@MegaMindfreak666 I said the same thing about it being played at my funeral before reading your comment! Great minds! Its an amazing piece!
@gretchenne Agreed! Why can't people appreciate ALL kinds of music!? I ADORE Lady Gaga, she's my idol, but I love classical as well!
@flamingbunnies10 His name is Eiji Oue, a Japanese famous conductor
That actually makes a lot of sense.
In my opinion, Eiji Oue is the bes conductor. He has an "I love this music so much" face and he's very enthusiastic, unlike european conductors, who look like they hate to be conducting and think the musicians are awful, not all of them, but generally
i think that this maestro gives confidence to the orchestra
Dear Foreign audience!
I'm japanese.
Please remember that this conductor is name of OHUE.
He was taught by Mr.Bernstein.
6:53-7:12
BEST CONDUCTING EVER!!!!!!!!
@tubal18 That's a good exuse to use when someone yells at you for not answering their call.
also das orchester hat es auf allen fälle verstanden die musik gut rüber zu bringen
Absoloutely glorious! Although i admit that the conductor pulls some strange faces!
Is there a whole MP3 of this somewhere? This is by far my favorite rendition of the piece, but I can't find it anywhere besides UA-cam.
@AnAmatureVideo Although I do greatly enjoy this piece and have seen it performed by multiple orchestras, it is strange that this is one of, if not the, most well known pieces of the romantic era when Tchaikovsky himself said it is "very loud and noisy, but [without] artistic merit, because I wrote it without warmth and without love."
it's Bernstein. he was awesome ^_^ but i know what you mean, 'Bernstein' threw me off after watching the 'Barenstein Bears' for years :D
3:36 ...AWWWWWWWWW Yeah!!!
@Jinxed44 Well, I don't know about length of pieces (though I do find it difficult to *just* listen to a piece without having something else to do at the same time), but I agree there are too many smug classical music listeners. @Cooki3st i could not agree more.
@92rabzouzjihad
il y a 2 hymnes nationaux dans 1812 ! la marseillaise et l'hymne russe (le tsariste bien sûr)
page turns are the most scary part of a piece. I remember throwing all my music on the floor during a performance. So embarrassing!
Everyone that loves this (excellent) conductors face and thinks he's just really into in the music....
I'd laugh if he really was just plain old constipated and nothing else. Brilliant performance, with extra points for going through it while constipated.
with all that music right there in front of you, a conducter must get caught up in the feelings of emotion that music illicits
7:45-8-15....WOWOWOWOWOW
were playing this in band..pretty amazing
i kept thinking that he would poke his eye out with that stick !
Oue-san is a living legend! I think he holds the record for being the youngest conductor for a certain orchestra. Minnesota?
lol every time i see his facial gesture i can't help but laugh
@brownie1982ad i agree with you on that point. im just saying that it was a poor choice of word to say when not to attack instead of when to attack because theyre completely different in terms of military strategy.
The tuba part for this is really hard.
If anyone has or finds an HD video, please share.
@brownie1982ad you do realize one of sun tzu's main points in the art of war is initiative right? he says you have to know when to attack.
momoalice2005, I think the conductor's face looks funny from the beginning till end :)
It's not easy to stand under the shadow of great Takashi Asahina, actually he's doing quite well.
@MegaMindfreak666 I want this played during my open casket funeral, and my corpse exploded during the finale.
7:51 wow!! :)
