I have an original my parents bought for me in maybe 1978. They said if I stuck with lessons for 3 months they would buy me a "real guitar" rather than the cheap red. white, and blue rental I started with. It's gone with me everywhere since. Still learning how to play it, but it's my favorite thing to play.
I paid $200 (used) for mine back in 1975. My first steel string. Great guitar. The thing is a tank & the neck has not budged an iota in over 40 years. Never kept under humdification at all & I live in the Northeast...I didn't know any better back then but you know what...it didn't matter a lick. Not a crack anywhere. It has a few bumps & bruises but mainly those were there when I bought it. They don't make em like they used to obviously.
I have F340S, bought it from a neighbor around 2010 for something like $175. Still learning how to play but it has a really nice sound. From the serial # it is from about 1979, near perfect condition.
I was given an 1987 F340 about 15 years ago, the guy who gave it to me was actually throwing it away. I couldn't believe my luck has it's in pristine condition and I love playing it.
I have a 1976 F340. What needs to be noted is these are plywood top guitars. The F340S is the solid spruce top model and the saddle height is not adjustable like the plywood top F340 model.
@supertube79, I mention more info on the solid vs laminate tops in my Takamine lawsuit era explanation on this same channel. Thanks for the additional info that the F340s doesn’t have the adjustable saddle.
@greaterthan4, try asking this question over in the Takamine group on Facebook. Lots of owners of that model in that group. Takamine did change the tuning machines over several years, so it could be one of several specific ones.
I own Many guitars, But I always go back to my 74 Takamine 340,, I love this guitar, & I own a Gibson J-45, A martin D-12, and many others But my F340 is my fav, kodi
hola Jordy, me alegro de que tengas la misma guitarra de 1974. la fecha de la guitarra debe ser visible dentro de la guitarra en tirantes o en el número de serie.
Buying a near mint '77 F 340 from my brother in law for $325 with case. Are these Indian or Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard on this model? The Mahogany on the example I'm getting is really nice. Regards 🎸
Wow, you’re amped. I only play my F340S finger style. Being a ‘78 it’s voiced beautifully & well balanced when tuned to concert. & it also sounds great tuned down a half step for more of a blues growl.
I am quite sure this video is only with the recording microphone. I did other videos in this channel where I attached an external guitar pick-up to various guitars to show how that specific pick-up sounds on different guitars sizes, shapes, builds, tonewoods, etc.

I bought my 1976 f340s new and have used D'Angelico or D'Adario strings for 40 yearss and have not found better!

I have an F340 dated to 1980 but it has a solid top. I have checked and it’s solid all the way through.
Elton, several people have mentioned that their F340 models have a solid top.
Searching for my 1976 375F. Sold to someone in Norway from Sam Ash in NYC. Thank you for your help.
Amy Kaplan, spread the word in the various Takamine groups on Facebook, Twitter as well
The date is inside stamped on the top bracing
It depends on the guitar. Some have the date stamped on the top bracing and others don't.
I have an F340. I have had for over 40 years. A great sounding guitar and super durable.
Hi
I've got the 1984 model F340, and one of the original tuning machine heads broke. Can anyone recommend a replacement?

Good deal Frank. I have wanted an F400 for many years. Keep missing the deals on them that come up only time to time here.

@scott, to my knowledge, the brazilian RW fingerboard is only on the higher models (F370, F375, etc) that have the same wood for back and sides.

If I needed a bridge for that guitar how would I find one ? I have the same guitar but the bridge snapped and I lost the parts in a move unfortunately
sleepingkindaof, I would say you might need a luthier to make a bridge for you
@@jeffallenfrance Thank you, I do appreciate the advice hopefully i can find one 🤞
I just bought one
I have an F340S from '76, looking for strings. What medium ones did you use?
+Jane Not East I simply use the Martin 80/20 medium strings
i have a f360s martin ooo shape
Are those brazilian rosewood back and side?
Brazilian wood (referred to as Jacandra by Takamine) is on other models (F-370, F-375, etc). The F-340 is mahogany back and sides.
