  • Our first day in Yellowstone! We got a bit of a late start on this day but our plans was to drive the Midway Geyser Basin and down to Old Faithful. We got a great show at our very first stop! Several smaller geysers plus some hot springs and mud pots.
I will be editing our trip into Yellowstone into a small series of videos that will help shorten the length of them and help keep each section we visited separate and easier to find.

Super volcano. If she goes off, the human species dies. It's a wonderful place, must go back to see it again. Thanks for showing us around.

Make sure you take an evening drive out to the Lemar Valley. Grizzly's and Wolfs hang around out there this time of year. Be real careful driving when it's dusk , dark or dawn. the wildlife is EVERYWHERE. The freakin' elk are huge and you don't want to tangle with a bison either. You will have a great time in Yellowstone!

I didn't like the paint pots when I was a little girl and I still don't. Was hoping I would feel different. That being said though Yellowstone was our very favorite of all the vacations we went on and we went on a lot! Have a wonderful time.

My parents and I went to Yellowstone when I was like 2 1/2 yrs old. I still remember that trip. My mom took my son to it in 1989. I hope we can travel to see it in the next couple of years. Mom and I were watching Dad fly fish in Yellowstone River. We saw these 2 cute bear cubs run by. Mom looked up and saw the Momma bear a couple blocks behind them. She yelled at Dad then picked me up and ran for the car. We got to the car as momma bear ran up to our car. She just glared at us then saw the cubs further down and left. I remember old faithful and the waterfalls. It is truly a beautiful area.

Our family of 4 (at the time) drove from Winston-Salem to Grandparents, Great Aunt and westward to Yellowstone. I was 2 years old. Lost all memory of it just months later. Bummer. Wanted to go back but we had to bug fast from Si Valley to our new home in Texas. We got the key just in time spent over night and there was the truck.

When you are through with your visit of Yellowstone if you go out to Cody you can visit the museum there. In it they have a huge amount of old fire arms.

If this catches you before you leave the Yellowstone area I hope that you see the Canyon Visitor Education Center. Or which ever one explains the volcanic history of the Yellowstone Basin. You also said that you would be heading to Cody, WY. Be sure to take in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. There are seven different theme sections to this great museum.

Just got back from South Dakota....I found the badlands more interesting than Rushmore. Yellowstone....been going for many many years..never disappointed, so much to see and do from the scenery to rock formations, wildlife, mud pits, geysers, mountains, etc. etc. Wyoming would be my choice. So why did I go to South Dakota...curious I guess. From now on...back to Wyoming for sure.

People who live close to the park, say the Norris geyser basin is the best in the park.

After all the reading I've done, I would be to scared to be there, but that's just me. If I wasn't in a wheelchair it would be different I think. Enjoy your stay.

    Guy-ser / geezer
"1920 L. C. Hale American's London viii. 109 The aristocratic landlady was telling me of the advantage of her own particular *geezer*... I moved closer to descry the lettering on the cylinder, and lo! it was a geyser. I suppose the word is universally mispronounced over here because they have not been brought up in a geyser country."
Here in the UK, 'gey' rhymes with key.
