- Join me for Truelove Family stories (which I have many, as a mother of 10 kids), Mothering Autism, with our Maxwell on our many fun car rides, and Free quilting class and sewing lessons! And as in a 'classroom' setting, my tutorials are approximately 1/2 hour+ long....So Join me in my home sewing room, out and about and trying to make all sorts of quilted goodies! Be aware ~ I like to chat and probably repeat myself over and over, (and stutter sometimes), and if this annoys you, then view elsewhere - but, if patient, you hopefully will learn a new method or technique and get an insight into a very large family and their crazy fun:)

Your new project really does sound fun! I have to think back to the Dear Jean quilt- I learned a lot- about myself and my quilting/ learning styles! Mainly, I do better with a written pattern. I bet I watched those videos, some of them, 10 times each! I took tons of notes. I bought fabric, and I went back and bought more fabric. I used some stash pieces. I skipped the appliqué corners and used a panel that had squares about the size of the corners and added sashing. I finally stopped when the quilt was much larger than I first intended. All in all though, it's kind of a masterpiece! My husband and I both love it while watching TV. Thank you for guiding me to try new things! Regards, Joan

Love your idea! I was thinking of a design that I'd like to do after your series (not sure what I'm doing), but I don't have a lot of room to show case my quilts and I was thinking of possibly doing a 4 seasons one with each row being a different season and on the top have flowers and on the bottom garden veggies. On the sides falling leaves and snowflakes with smaller rows in between of the colors of the holidays that fall in that season (Valentines Day, Fourth of July etc.). But I want to start with yours so I can get the basics down on how to create one. I'm soooo excited!! Thank you for all the time you are putting into this!! God Bless you!
Love a row quilt. Just made one for a baby boy using my AccuQuilt cutter/dies. Row of dinosaurs, cars, ducks, dogs, ABCs. Discovered the ladder stitch is easier to manage than a satin stitch. A mix of regular blocks and applique should be fun!

I always need a little lie down in a quiet place after I watch your videos.... so much enthusiasm is very tiring to watch !..😄😆.. a little hearts and flowers row would be lovely.... Riley Blake fabrics are always recognisable especially as there is a specific peppermint green she uses....

Just adding my 2 cents 😂. Cotton reels, musical notes, cups & saucers , umbrellas, … you’ve caught me in between projects so I might just join you on this, never considered this type of quilt ( mine have always been symmetrical ) but please stick with some appliqué - that is something else I would like to try. Hi Jean after watching your row by row quilt segment I was thinking about foundation piecing for making some of the blocks. It’s quite intimidating until you make your first piece and then it’s so easy and you can make some pretty difficult looking blocks that are quite easy. I’m looking at yo Carpenter Star Quilt in the back ground and it’s so beautiful, I’m going to get started on mine soon. Keep up the good work.❤Kelli

I love the excitement you bring to my day! Row by row project has so many opportunities. I love to try new blocks & then they become orphans 😢. I started gathering them and they can be a family! Ha ha
One idea for simple appliqué is cookie cutters. I have a butterfly cookie cutter I plan to use.
Hi Jean, as several others mentioned, your fabric bundle is by Lori Holt; and if you’ve not heard of her channel, she also designs lots of old-timey blocks that might inspire you (& others).
She has butterflies and birds, houses. Sunbonnet Sue & Sam; Scotty dogs, all kinds of kitchen gadgets, sewing stuff, plus many traditional pieced and appliqué. She’s very into vintage and her ideas wd also work great in a row quilt.
You don’t necessarily hv to use her patterns, but cd be inspired to create your own! 😊🌷

Love the fabric for ur carpenters' star border. IMO I would use a narrow border of a cream/white to offset the scrappy border and the gray print. Looking forward to jeans row by row. Diann Darville

Love the row by row quilt idea. I have been quilting for over 20 years now and can honestly say I have never done one either. I started watching you recently and I wanted you to know I love your channel. I love hearing about your family and was so pleased to find out that you are one of my sisters. I am so excited to start this. I am going to use Christmas prints and change what I need to such as using trees instead of tulips and snowman instead of butterflies. I need a Christmas quilt and this idea will fit the bill. Thank you for getting this going.

A scrappy quilt can be calmed down by using only one, two or three colors of one group. I mean not all color you have. Your scetch looks really good. I´m excidet to see the results.
Jean I am totally relying on your creative genius after looking at patterns on Pinterest! Too overwhelming for me. I love your idea of using a favorite print for rows. I have been saving a lovely pansy print fabric that I forgot when I purchased it😂😂

Dear Jean, those are some wonderful ideas for this quilt. I have never been very successful with my attempts at appliqué but I am determined to try again on my “Row along with Jean “ quilt . Takes me out of my comfort zone but we all need a challenge now and again. Love to the Trueloves,🏴

In about 10 days or so:)
Anyone not wanting the appliqués could always do 3 repeat rows. Like , row of pinwheels, 9 patch squares, log cabin squares. Then repeat those 3 rows in differant colors. Until the quilt is as big as they want.

Jean, I could almost see your ideas whirling around in your head. I had thought of the tall bird house idea but I quite also like your tree with an owl idea, I have seen quilts with tall mod flowers too. They would make great vertical rows. Your suggestions for the horizontal rows would be great too. Take care.

Jean, The suggested fabrics you showed us is called Prairie because it's a kit from the Prairie Quilt by Lori Holt. I wanted to tell you that before you cut into it because you may have purchased it to make that quilt and forgot. :)
Hahaha no Jean, the quilt ad you go where the blocks - in this case rows, are individually sandwiched and quilted and then the rows are sewn together using one of several QAYG methods. Absolutely no wrangling with the quilt on your machine.
