You put your hand up, you make your bid You got your pictures all laid out on the grid Look in the garden, in the surface ground Buried everything that you never want found And the court will rise While the pillars all fall We got the healer and the birthday cake We got the real thing and we got the fake You got the ladder but where is the snake? How my body begins to wake And the court will rise While the pillars all fall You got the money goin' up your nose You got the data, don't control where it goes But you have left it getting down to the bone Your only memories on your mobile phone And the court will rise While the pillars all fall Out of this sentence The ball and the claw And all these pronouncements I can make up the voice of the law Out in the market, all our lives are on sale And the balls are drifting further apart Recovery cannot fail Got the things you need and they're all in place Got the big shot barrister to plead my case Got my baby throwin' up on a chocolate milk The black cat judge reaches for his silk And the court will rise While the pillars all fall We lost the line between the good and bad We lost the line between the sane and the mad Used to draw the line across the writing pad The line of conscience that we never have had And the court will rise While the pillars all fall So many reaching for it So many reaching out for it (you know that justice is blind) So many are reaching for it So many reaching out for it (you know that justice is blind) So many looking out for it So many looking out for it (you know that justice is blind)

Non non le son était une déception ce soir là a Bercy... Le show était puissant mais limité par le son et les balances qui n'avaient sûrement pas été faites sur tout
If you think this show was good, you should have seen him in 83. I remember my shin bones vibrating to the bass in San Jacinto. I have always been a fan of Peter, but this show doesn't have any life to it. I know he is 40 years older than when I first saw him in 83, but this just didn't do it for me. The visual element has always been a part of his shows, even with Genesis, but the over-reliance on the video screens just seems lazy. Even the lighting seemed monochromatic and boring. Nothing that made me say WOW! like the articulating lights ala the Shock the Monkey video during his So tour, or the phone booth rising up from below the stage and pulling him back inside of it during Come Talk to Me from his Us tour. And of course he is far too old to go into the crowd like he did in 83. As always, his band is tight. I also think he screwed up the way he has been releasing his new songs. Of the 11 new songs played in this show, only 6 have been released so far. And the crowd's reaction shows that they haven't heard most, if any, of them. I heard plenty of polite applause after them. But that's all. Polite applause. To only play 2 total songs total from his first 4 albums just disappoints me. Sledgehammer, Big Time, and In Your Eyes should have been cut for songs such as The Rhythm of the Heat, Mercy Street, Sky Blue, No Self Control, or We Do What We're Told. He should open the show with Biko, not close it. That would have been unexpected. Closing with Biko, has become cliche. He closed his show with Biko on his Back to Front, Growing Up, Secret World (Sometimes he closed with Here Comes the Flood), So, and Security tours. Great song, but part of the joy of a concert is hearing something you didn't expect. Yes, I know the 3 songs I would have cut are perhaps his biggest hits, but they are way down on the list of his best songs. And he just did a tour where he played the entire So album from beginning to end. Well, "just did" in Peter Gabriel terms. That was already 9 years ago. But it was his last solo tour. He'll always be perhaps my favorite artist of all time. But I think I will keep my memories of his earlier tours and skip this one. Imagine going to see that last Genesis tour with Phil in such poor health he had to sit on a stool the entire show. As much as I have loved Genesis, seeing Phil like that would have just made me sad. Anyway, thanks for sharing this. I was on the fence as to whether I would travel somewhere to see one of his shows. Right now he isn't playing a show in Atlanta. This has helped me decide not to do that.
Definitely agree about the way he's releasing his new Music, lost interest because not been able to assess the new material. Out of all the Genesis members Steve's proved to be the most exciting and innovative and continues to keep getting better! Peter needs to change his set list too, far too predictable, Sledgehammer for example is so outdated and hasn't aged as well as much of his back catalogue.
I have some sympathy with the above comments. It is a brave call to play 11 new songs especially when the new album has not been released yet. Some of these could in time be considered great songs - 4 horses, the court, road to joy in particular. I too am a bit disappointed in his encore choices - predictable is the word. Is Biko still such a statement piece? I notice he played Here comes the flood as openers in some of his German concerts? Maybe there is a reason for this? Anyway I am seeing him in London on the 19th and still looking forward to the experience.
and btw.. first time i saw him (alone) was in .... 78 (never missed since ) so maybe it deserves the trip anyway ; unsure how many tours he may still perform in the future
I agree with you, its pretty dull. I think the challenge now is that all these older artists are playing warehouses. Which by definition have no atmosphere. I recently saw a video on here for Metallica, in a baseball stadium or something, in daylight..... It was horrendous. I guess the fact that most of these legends are in their 60s and 70s, they want to hit as many people with only one night, rather than 6 nights at a more intimate theatre which would be unworkable, energy-wise, but preferable for the fans (ticket cost-wise too probably). Personally I'm happy with my gig memories from the 80s and 90s and 00s now. Especially as these enormo-concerts are absurd £££s. Unless I get to see a true legend like I did last year (Herbie Hancock) in a concert hall setting, that was truly amazing (Dublin).

Could I please have the words to COURT
You put your hand up, you make your bid
You got your pictures all laid out on the grid
Look in the garden, in the surface ground
Buried everything that you never want found
And the court will rise
While the pillars all fall
We got the healer and the birthday cake
We got the real thing and we got the fake
You got the ladder but where is the snake?
How my body begins to wake
And the court will rise
While the pillars all fall
You got the money goin' up your nose
You got the data, don't control where it goes
But you have left it getting down to the bone
Your only memories on your mobile phone
And the court will rise
While the pillars all fall
Out of this sentence
The ball and the claw
And all these pronouncements
I can make up the voice of the law
Out in the market, all our lives are on sale
And the balls are drifting further apart
Recovery cannot fail
Got the things you need and they're all in place
Got the big shot barrister to plead my case
Got my baby throwin' up on a chocolate milk
The black cat judge reaches for his silk
And the court will rise
While the pillars all fall
We lost the line between the good and bad
We lost the line between the sane and the mad
Used to draw the line across the writing pad
The line of conscience that we never have had
And the court will rise
While the pillars all fall
So many reaching for it
So many reaching out for it (you know that justice is blind)
So many are reaching for it
So many reaching out for it (you know that justice is blind)
So many looking out for it
So many looking out for it (you know that justice is blind)
Really need the words to Court so I can sing
What was that piano break during In Your Eyes?!? Purposefully cacophonous?
Je n'y suis pas allé, le coût était cette fois trop élevé. Mais pas de regrets, la scène semblait moyenne comparée à d'autres tournées du chanteur.
