- The Xiaomi SU7, the first electric vehicle from Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, has recently been unveiled, marking a significant entry into the automotive market. This ambitious project, led by Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun, reflects the company's foray into electric vehicle technology, aiming to compete with established brands like Porsche and Tesla.
The Xiaomi SU7 comes in two variants: the standard version and the more powerful SU7 Max. The SU7 Max features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering a remarkable 664 horsepower and a top speed of 265 km/h. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds, slightly outperforming the Porsche Taycan Turbo in speed. The vehicle also boasts an impressive 800 km range on a single charge, thanks to its 101kWh battery developed in collaboration with CATL. Additionally, the battery supports rapid charging, gaining 510 km of range in just 15 minutes.
On the other hand, the standard SU7 model is equipped with a single electric motor, offering a rear-wheel drive setup. It delivers 295 horsepower with 400 Nm of torque, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds. This version has a slightly lower range of 668 km on a single charge, provided by a 73.6 kWh battery.
Both versions of the SU7 boast advanced technology integration. The vehicle is equipped with Xiaomi's HyperOS system, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, ensuring seamless software connectivity. It features a large 16.1-inch touchscreen, a comprehensive 56-inch heads-up display, and a 7.1-inch instrument cluster. The car's interior is also notable for its luxurious feel and spaciousness, with a panoramic view enabled by an expansive glass area. The sound experience is enhanced by a 25-speaker system with Dolby Atmos.
Safety is a paramount feature of the SU7, with an armored cage-type steel-aluminum hybrid body, multiple airbags, and a comprehensive suite of active safety features. The vehicle has achieved 5-star safety ratings in various tests.
For the tech-savvy, the SU7 is a dream with its integration into the Xiaomi ecosystem. It allows for control of various Xiaomi smart home devices and offers compatibility with Apple products. The car's self-driving capabilities are powered by Xiaomi Pilot, which uses two Nvidia Orin-X chips and a combination of lidar, radars, and cameras for autonomous driving functions.
The Xiaomi SU7 is currently undergoing testing and is expected to start mass production in the first half of 2024. Pricing details have not been disclosed yet, but CEO Lei Jun indicated that it would be on the higher end.
Overall, the Xiaomi SU7 stands out for its impressive performance specifications, advanced technology integration, and commitment to safety and luxury, positioning it as a strong competitor in the electric vehicle market.

Hahahaha, yeah right, another pipe dream.

dude are you in Middle school?? Xiaomi said they will take over apple like 5 years ago, what happened now?? Apple is still number#1 in China and consider luxuary. you do know this car all they did is take part of the porche, tesla and Mcclaren and smash it together. It looks like a POS.
I've had a test drive and it feels amazing! I'll be able to own it in April!
This is a lie. You either never drove this car and are just posting propaganda, or you have never driven a real car and only know what a cheap garbage Chinese tofu cars feel like.

It's not a "Tesla and Porsche contender". It does what the Apple Car was supposed to do: the first car that's fully streamlined into a smart home solution. The car is registered as a "room" in Xiaomi's smart home hub and its components like child seats and air conditioner standalone IoT devices! Wow! Just imagine the automation that's available for this car. Endless possibilities.
Endless posibilities
Yes, what you described is quite right, the ecological concept of "human-car-home" really has infinite possibilities.
lol why its registered as a "room"?? they should update the app and make it register like a "car" , imagine your "room" starts leaving your house xD

I was quick to dismiss the Xiaomi SU7 as just another EV from China trying to be Tesla, but the mention of the SU7 utilizing CATL’s batteries piqued my interest, so no wonder it’s able to reach an 800 km range on a single charge. The SU7 is a competitive EV, and this isn’t another quick cash-grab to get into the EV game. This product of Xiaomi is serious and means business to compete with the best. I’m very impressed.
What really interests me is (at least it seems so) that they aren't cutting corners... and partnering with companies like Dolby and Bosch. No wonder it won't come cheap.
Trying to be Tesla? Lol dude Tesla, Spacex, Neuralink, Starlink, Solar City, The Boring Company are all chinese startups investment to boost US economy due to trade deficit. Tesla was the first chinese rebranded EV to hit the global market and now comes the second and third waves of EV with BYD and Nio. US investment into China has come to fruition since 2008 and china is returning those investment into US economy.
Trying to be Tesla?! Tesla is a Chinese startup to boost US economy and that hit the global market
I'm waiting for detailed reviews from production cars. I'm sure there will be issues - every new (& also most of the established) car company has them. But the most important thing is how they'll handle them and improve their product. For ex. the original Model 3 was a much worse car than the 2024 model.
Xiaomi is heading in a good route
There are more than 20 brands in China competing in the EV cars market. Whoever wins the game will be a serious threat to the Germany and Japanese car industry. Xiaomi the number 2 Chinese mobile brand right behind Huawei which has a lot of money and support from the Chinese government. They have a bigger error margin when it comes to the competition.
BTW, the SU7 actually looks quite good. A lot better than many of the futuristic feel ugly EVs.

I'm so glad for Xiaomi. When the first smartphones came out everyone would talk you out of buying one. Years after their first smartphone their first e-car comes out. Most definitely giving Taycan vibes for sure.. you would think that Porsche and Xiaomi have the same designer..

Price for Standard Setup?

It looks a lot like the taycan but I hope I don’t enrage porsche fans by saying I like this design just a little bit more…
Taycan is much more expensive, and the battery life is only 400, Xiaomi’s is 800, I can only say that Porsche is far behind
The lower rear looks weird and it seems heavily inspired by the Model 3 - maybe just a side effect of electric sedans.
