Susan Hayward is so awesome in this. I love her. "The only hit that comes out of a Helen Lawson show is Helen Lawson, and that's me, baby-- rememba?" Lmao. So perfect.
She was fabulous as Helen! Judy Garland didn't really have that tough edge to her that Susan did. She was perfect for the role after Garland was fired.
No one could possibly upstage Ethel Merman with that magnificent trumpet voice of hers. However, there was a rumor that she pushed to have Betty Hutton’s songs cut from a musical that they were both it. But, another story was that a producer of the show decided to cut one of her numbers himself.
I actually dont think it would've been as great as everybody always thinks. I think we want too believe it would've been legendary but Judy just wouldn't of pulled it off and we need to face that
One of her best roles. Unfortunately, the rest of the film stank. You can't watch it without laughing or feeling sorry for Sharon Tate. Of course, the source material was ludicrous.
@@vixyvelasquez9898yeah but shes not remembered for her movie roles. I think people have a morbid curiosity about them but we never really got too see how well she could've done but her murder and marriage to Roman Polanski completely overshadowed the rest of her life and its too bad.

Susan Hayward was great as Helen Lawson.
They picked the right one to replace Judy Garland

She was FANTASTIC as Helen! Susan Hayward is one of my favorite actresses.
"And that's me baby, REMEMBA!"🤣
Thanks so much for this, it's been awhile.
Susan Hayward was FANTASTIC!!!! She was a tough girl from NYC and a Viking warrior! RIP, Miss Hayward🙏
Love Susan, she eats the scenery in this but it doesn’t matter because you can’t take your eyes off her..,❤
Old age goals.😍
This was clearly based on Ethel Merman, who was supposed to be a terror to work with if she thought that anyone was upstaging her.

Very GOOD
Susan nailed this!
Really good!
Susan Hayward was awesome as Helen Lawson. But, can you imagine Judy Garland in this role? I’d had given anything to hear her perform this scene!!
By that time, she was physically emaciated. The character of Helen Lawson could only have worked with a more physically imposing actress.

@@Harris-vu3wlAgree, I find Garland overrated. Susan was a superior Actress
Helen Lawson was supposed to be Ethel Merman.
do you think lena horne could have been helen ? not saying lena was a helen, just that she could have played the part. acting wise
Yes ... Lena had an edge to her, could smolder and spark.
Leana Horne would have stolen the entire movie.
Bette Davis and Joan Crawford both sought the role of Helen Lawson.
@@jackjules7552 You're half-right.
I love Susan Hayward in this movie. She was perfect for Helen Lawson. Judy would have been totally miscast.
She'll plant her own tree!
Sorry Judy you just could never be Helen Lawson.

Sharon Tate was a queen 👸🏻 in her short lived time , she’s still remembered

@@vixyvelasquez9898meh. she’s remembered because of her beauty and murder story. talent wise not really.
Only person in dreadful film that seemed lie a real person
Real Hollywood Sweetness. She could play Harvey Weinstein.
Susan was terrific. The film was godawful.
Ahhhh Hahahahahaha she was terrible but the camp factor is off the charts........
