Hey, I love your rating system for the B.C.P as a whole so if you have the time mind giving wave 2 a look? I also heard Nintendo addresses some issues wave 1 had ua-cam.com/video/xBly7QHQkYA/v-deo.html
I just feel these tracks could have gotten more changes. I honestly don't hate the simpler graphics and I can live with it. The only exception is coconut mall, it just has a lot less spirit to me. But the course remakes are underwhelming, theres no underwater areas or wall ride areas (especially disappointed on the choco mountain lake) I will say I love tours stages though, at least paris and ninja hideaway are fun maps, and the changing laps in maps are cool. Also side note I too hope the ladder is a reference I'll still take it with 48 (more tracks then any other mario kart game has by default) for $25
I can agree. Coconut mall was great for the booster course pass, but they have changed many colors and not stick with the old ones. I would live with the mk Wii version because the music fits a bit more with the colors.
For me, the thing that sucks is that the art style of the new courses isn't bad *in isolation* (I actually quite like Tour's art style), it's just that they totally clash with the aesthetic of the base game. The lack of consistency is what makes it all so clunky.
I have to be honest and say that I barely even notice a difference in the middle of an actual race online. If I don't need to focus on. It during the actual gameplay then why should I give a fuck?
They should've had Bandai Namco design these tracks, considering the fact that they haven't really done anything this year. Hopefully this means Bandai Namco is busy making a new Soul Caliber, Ridge Racer, or Pac Man World game, or even porting Idolmaster to Switch, and not that Nintendo didn't bother asking them
Spaceman being incredibly based yet again. Speaking of anti gravity sections, it's a crime they didn't add it to the rock falling section in Choco mountain and the large turn in Sky Garden.
I’m kinda like, this pass could as well be Mario Kart Superstars, and they just added it to 8 to double the track count and not split the online lobby matchmaking into two different games. The style clash between both does bother me a bit, but at the end of the day, it’s more Mario kart.
whenever someone talks about how its "understandable" that the courses aren't as impressive as the base game because the DLC is only $25 in my mind i always make the comparison to octo expansion. octo expansion was a DLC that had 40+ unique levels each with unique gimmicks and high quality assets and so much polish and charm and at the same time it was only $20. when you compare the two DLCs it becomes pretty clear that nintendo is not at all putting their best work into this. it's disappointing, since if there was any game you'd expect nintendo to go all out on the DLC for, it'd be this one. it's the best selling game on the system and they can't even be bothered to care. the courses are fine enough. but we should expect more from nintendo. they are capable of so much more.
I keep seeing people say that this dlc is amazing because of how good of a value it is, but when you think about it, I expect it to be this price. These tracks are less impressive graphically, as well as design, because none of these tracks are original. That’s why I think anything above $25 for these tracks would be asking for too much.
The original MK8 DLC had a very similar price while also giving new characters and vehicles and being higher quality in general. Seems like people just forgor

Choco Mountain and the other "retro" tracks are just lifted straight from Tour) and still charge 25$ for the lot. Mario Kart fans are one of the most ungrateful communities I’ve ever known, complaining about the DLC all because of graphics and Tour aspects. (Tour tracks aren’t any less complex by the way) you guys complain like as if the DLC also implemented micro-transactions
@@JaydenCollectsBalloons There's a fine line between Criticism and Complaining, dunno if we've passed it or not, but it's there. That statement at 0:54 was a good way to describe the BCP aesthetic. I like how it looks, but for a company as affluent and expansive as Nintendo, I expect more.
So far, the booster course pass seems cool to me. I would like to see nintendo pick more powerful courses like 3DS rainbow road, DS Waluigi Pinball, Wii Mushroom Gorge, and other popular ones. Toad circuit is good ngl, but it kinda feels a bit bland (but it’s ok with me though) and could’ve got a better upgrade. I say that Coconut Mall was an amazing course and I’m kinda happy they added it despite the new out of bounds shortcuts added (just see for yourself). The rest of these courses are pretty ok, but the MKT one was actually good. I can understand why they set it 25 dollars because there will be more courses coming up as well as new courses and graphics.

"Take that saturation slider and crank that shit allll the way up" loll Because it's the first bunch of courses, I assume there was a time crunch so I'm giving the lack of details a pass. But my expectations for the second batch is much higher.
Yup it felt like a fanmade mod or a direct port from Mario Kart 7 for sure, not up to standard with the game or the company behind it. They are fun, but boy the sides look distressing at times especially the leaves and all. Worst is Coconut Mall, they didn't change it enough to fit the MK8 playstyle (it has no anti gravity, would had been cool to see their take on it), and the cars don't move! They have the assets to have moving cars, like in Toad's TurnPike or Shroom Ridge, idk they went lazy here. Hope they don't ruin the other great maps like Moonview Highway or Dino Dino Jungle.
You properly roasted MK8 at the start "It's called mario kart 8 because it took 8 years to get new courses". Also the graphics of the booster courses do look raw
supposedly ninja hideaway was supposed to be a warioware themed track featuring kat and ana, potentially tied to a warioware event for tour to coincide with warioware get it together releasing in the same time frame. If so, that would have been really cool, although it was probably axed due to the fact that Nintendo hates it when the Mario series does anything exciting or special outside of the status quo. You can see evidence of this through the use of wario insignia such as his nose plastered through the course.
I just want it to look good, I don't care that much if some of the tracks are simple or boring or straightforward remakes. And they don't look good. Visually, they're a noticeable downgrade from standard Mario Kart 8.
Got my expansion pass just the other day for 17.00 USD. Glad to hear others thoughts and feelings on these courses. I'm super excited to see how the rest of this DLC turns out.
I agree about some of the textures, but man, complaining about sharp corners, then complaining about wide roads, then complaining about bonking your head because you can’t figure out how to not bonk your head… seems silly
Lol nice intro. As an initial hard skeptic to the Booster pass, I have to say I am shocked that I enjoy every single course. Yes even Toad Circuit. While it's not hard, it's probably one of the best intro courses in the series. The end stretch after the tunnel has big ol' turns and loads of shortcut opportunities. It probably only made it in because they're recycling tracks used in Tour. Hopefully they keep picking good, more complex ones like Waluigi Pinball and Maple Treeway. My only graphical gripe is the grass textures being literally flat green. Oh, and the outside of Coconut Mall being flat orange as well. But Paris Promenade and Choco Mountain honestly look great. Mixed bag in terms of graphics! The MK8 lighting engine picks up a lot of slack for the textures. Coconut Mall, Shroom Ridge, and Ninja Hideaway are ball-busters. They're the crazy shit I love Mario Kart for. Also, lowkey love Tokyo Blur more than I expected to. It's got fun back-and-forth drifts on top of the 3 overlapping laps. Subbing man.
7:33 YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY EXTRA MONEY FOR MARIO OR ANY OTHER MAINSTAY CHARACTER, ALL MAINSTAYS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE FRANCHISE ARE IN TOUR (MORE CHARACTERS THAN ANY OTHER GAME) AND THEY’RE NOT HIGH ENDS SO YOU CAN GET THEM ALL FOR FREE WITH ENOUGH PIPE PULLS, ITS MOSTLY JUST THE RESKINS YOU’LL HAVE A PROBLEM UNLOCKING IF YOU WANT ALL OF THEM. THIS MISINFORMATION IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE HATE TOUR AND IT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF
I personally had a great time with these! It's kinda sad to see other people aren't liking them as much as I did, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
I think they took a note from Pokemon BDSP with the "remake" look. Tho tbh...i feel the BDSP look has more effort in it than these mario kart tracks....and that says a lot cuz the BDSP style wasn't that great either imo
he's allowed to dislike mkwii, but i feel like alot of the issues with the port is cause it's the MKtour version, and also the ramp bonking is probably to do with mk8's physics.. But those conveyors, terribly cranked up saturation, and non-moving cars just make booster pass Coconut mall worse than the original.. and before you argue the cars suck, is it really mariokart if you can't get railed by president obama? (in all honesty, fair opinion, but i personally like them)
I think some of these staged won't work well for two hundred cc cause some of the turns feel like it should be short or least have(depending on the custom kart/bikes) adjust for 200 cc so least they don't fell off. Or just have vehicle not fly off the course at least.
In my opinion, they could have added new characters Like Diddy Kong or, Funky Kongand new karts like the Wild Wing, The Brute, the Flame Flyer, the Egg 1, The Honeycoupe, the Wario Car, the Egg 1, the Royale, the Power Flower, the Streamliner, the Comet Tail, etc.

I would love to play these new tracks after two years as I would like to see what is added as of what tracks I enjoyed from the pass entries. However after two years I would still purchase it just to have forty eight new tracks to race on as I have not played Mario kart eight the year after it was ported on the switch. Hopefully a new physical version is released with the complete title with every DLC in it.
im no video game developer, but i think it wouldve been easier for nintendo to make the courses look like the original game since the assets are already in the game rather than make them look like tour, so i dont know maybe they want to go towards a more cartoony style, and im fine with it, i just wanna play toad circuit EDIT: YOU TAKE THAT BACK TOAD CIRCUIT IS THE BEST TRACK IN THE GAME, THOSE BIG TOADS WILL SMITE YOU WHERE YOU STAND PESANT
10:25 This take was kinda cringe imo, like I'm over the age of 15 and I can still enjoy songs from FNF since overall they are just nice little tunes to bop your head to every now and then. I know many other people feel this way to. Either way nice video overall, I'd say the tracks we got so far are a solid 7/10, nothing too special besides maybe Ninja Hideaway but I like some of the changes made to some retro tracks(choco mountain aesthetic, and shroom ride shortcut). I've had plenty of fun with friends on these tracks so hopefully they release higher quality ones next wave so everyone will be satisfied. This video was a good watch, keep up the good work.
While I don't hear the fnf of what you mean on ninja hideaway I almost feel the same about the stages Just gba sky gardens feels a lil wack since it feels like the version they used was made for a mobile game...and that's cause it was along with getting rid of cool shortcuts that I loved about the stage with looks being the most ok I can give it. While my favorite one was ninja hideaway idk I like how vertical and options it is
I agree with a lot of the opinions in this video, I haven’t played this dlc yet but so i meant have a new take when I finally get it but I understand why people are kinda disappointed with this dlc, i mean Nintendo showed that they can make these courses like and feel fantastic to play, and seeing them just port the tour tracks to MK8D and not add new stuff to the tracks to make them feel like that there not ported from the mobile game just hurts, i know that tracks like choco mountain would be so much better if they made the tracks bigger and longer, i will still play this dlc and still enjoy it but the tracks besides the tour ones just feel like they could have been way better (+ I really enjoyed this video keep up the good work!)
That is one of the most braindead things I’ve ever read. Yeah those tracks are heavily affiliated with Mario Kart Tour but that doesn’t make them less quality. Why are you gonna let the mobile content affect your enjoyment? It’s not like Nintendo is also implementing the micro transactions into 8 Deluxe
I actually found myself playing the new DLC more than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Honestly Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was just the Wii U version with minor changes / additions. The DLC makes it feel DELUXE! The textures look great in handheld mode compared to the old outdated textures. Not only that but, the feeling is great! This will expand the life span of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and since it was one of the most best selling Nintendo Switch titles of all time, it might embrace newcomers of the Nintendo Switch to give it a try and buy the DLC which gives them a glimpse into the world of Mario Kart. DS, 3DS, Wii, etc. tracks which may expand their horizons in the franchise without buying old hardware. This might be a good thing. 10/10 for the 8 tracks so far. Can’t wait to see what else comes out of this. 😊👍🏻
'compared to the old outdated textures'? ..i wouldn't call the base game textures of 8/8dx outdated, they still look great, and the Wii U/Switch are the most powerful Nintendo consoles.. ever. (which shows how weak switch is, but y'know, handheld privileges.) besides, i don't think many people are saying the booster pack tracks have better textures than base game, it's quite the opposite honestly. I mean yeah, more tracks is more tracks and is cool, but people have been waiting for Mariokart 9 for quite a few years and idk if a bunch of retro tracks will really be enough to satisfy everyone... and of course they'll feel good to play it's still Mariokart 8 at the end of the day.
@@chickennugget6684 Yeah I get that but, its retro tracks that you could only play with every edition of the games which most people don’t own / even played all the games so this allows people like me & newcomers to get their feel of Mario Kart without buying old hardware & old games. Honestly I hate change of anything, I get grumpy when there are remakes/remaster but I will say this Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC is worth it. I only own the Mario Kart DS & 3DS & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, if this gives me a glimpse into SNES & N64 & Gamecube & Wii then I don’t see that as a bad thing. Especially since Mario Kart Tour is really boring & unplayable at least I can experience the beautiful and well done courses without their crappy app. Also you should be happy this isn’t another Mario Kart game… That would be $60 but, the DLC is only $26 as an add on. Since you keep saying its the same old game and that it doesn’t belong in 8 then would you really want to pay $60 for the Deluxe then pay $60 for the dlc as a stand alone game? Honestly, I play the 8 courses that came out on the DLC more than the stand alone title. Sometimes I play “compilations”, now because of the DLC there is 4 DS tracks in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as a whole. 5 N64 tracks as well. So, with the added DLC you could play all retro tracks in a big compilation without the original hardware & cartridges/disks.
Personally coconut mall is a little to bright to many oranges and I would rather some of the floors that are orange should be white instead just to make it more to the original
Deal with it, Nintendo wants to preserve the Tour tracks by the looks of things. And don’t be complaining, go to Twitter if you want to complain about the DLC. Honestly it’s a good thing for them to port Tour tracks over because that game will be shut down eventually
@@chickennugget6684 there’s no “unfortunately”, I don’t see what makes Tour’s Maple Treeway bad, it doesn’t look bad visually, and it’s exactly how it was in 7.
I was excited until I saw the courses, they all looked pretty lame, or at least not worth the money for me. Also, they changed the Sky Garden track layout which I really don't like. And releasing them in waves instead of all at once is another thing that turns me off...

probably buy the DLC on it's own if you don't intend to play all those N64 games, either way you're still paying o$20-80 a year depending on where you live just by paying for base NSO if you play online.
These tracks just feel like they were made for a different game altogether. Art style is inconsistent with the main game, looking more like it belongs in Paper Mario instead of Mario Kart, there's no anti-grav sections in the first wave, and even dumb shit that I only care about like the sand in Toad Circuit not catching on the tires like it does for base game stages. I always wanted Waluigi Pinball and MK7 Rainbow Road in MK8, but not if they're just gonna port the Tour versions.

Deal with it, the graphics aren’t bad. They’re just not hyper-realistic like the first 48 tracks.
Haven't seen it, but banger video Mr. Spaceman
As they always say, “Just okay, is not okay.”
I can agree that Toad Circuit was an unnecessary addition.
I really hope the 2nd wave has koopa cape, that was one of my favorite maps. I'd also like to see Rock Rock mountain
supposedly ninja hideaway was supposed to be a warioware themed track featuring kat and ana, potentially tied to a warioware event for tour to coincide with warioware get it together releasing in the same time frame. If so, that would have been really cool, although it was probably axed due to the fact that Nintendo hates it when the Mario series does anything exciting or special outside of the status quo.
You can see evidence of this through the use of wario insignia such as his nose plastered through the course.
indeed. the lack of baguettes on the paris course is rather unsettling.
'many bright colors' proceeds to show footage of black roofs on not so saturated buildings with gray railings
I just want it to look good, I don't care that much if some of the tracks are simple or boring or straightforward remakes. And they don't look good. Visually, they're a noticeable downgrade from standard Mario Kart 8.
the intro had me dying! Great video
I love the dunkey style intro
3:22 Finally someone who acknowledges the weird proportions of the objects!
Has me cracking up the whole time. Great video. Hopefully the courses improve
I’ve called the ‘golden dash’ mushroom ‘King speed’ my whole life aha
9:01 what color pallet should we use
YES 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
3:57 I thought you changed the gameplay to play Tour instead! I don't hate the graphics of Toad Circuit, but they stick out and look tour-y
THIS MISINFORMATION IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE HATE TOUR AND IT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF
5:45 rocks
Wave 2 has waluigi pinball. ‘Nough said.
I personally had a great time with these! It's kinda sad to see other people aren't liking them as much as I did, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
You earned a sub for the car quest cameo
Smh the whole Switch experience after 2017 can be summed up as a lazy cashgrab with low effort
Smash Ultimate, Luigi's Mansion, Astral Chain, Metroid Dread, Kirby Forgor, Ring Fit, Tears, and Pikmin would like a word
Unfortunately I will have to hand you a big L for clowning on Mario Kart Wii, but this is otherwise a good review. I'll keep an eye on your channel.
I think they took a note from Pokemon BDSP with the "remake" look. Tho tbh...i feel the BDSP look has more effort in it than these mario kart tracks....and that says a lot cuz the BDSP style wasn't that great either imo
I freaking love coconut mall! Mario Kart Wii was my CHILDHOOD. Coconut mall was my favorite wave 1 coarse by far!
well the creator of the video sadly hates mario kart wii :(
Mkwiis coconut mall looked better especially the escalators
he's allowed to dislike mkwii, but i feel like alot of the issues with the port is cause it's the MKtour version, and also the ramp bonking is probably to do with mk8's physics..
1:49 oh no its the infamous wario dumpy comparison
that gag at the beginning doesnt work because mario kart 8 (wii u) dlc pack 2 came out in 2015
Not to mention... They dun took Warios cake!!! He has no ass!!! How can he shit?!?!
Captain: I don’t like Mario kart Wii and here’s the sh**y level design
I can hear the riot
Coconut mall is small in width and the erasure of the Miis along with the shortening of the end section is horrid
Nice vid! I'd be curious to hear why you don't like Mario Kart Wii.

Liked the video at (80-q9"":-00 pm MY TIME sorry for the accidental caps lock, watching 2 screens with 2 voices in 3 is hard but I hope it's kind of fun for you guyz at least, I figure out how to type again every time I can and the both wrists actually are still locked until I'm out of here ":P it's a tough game fwhere I'm sitting but I'm cheering for the Pro Pingq-pong like that one movie with the guy running until he remmebersedz not to run tso zo hard on film
Respect for the eurobeat
I would love to play these new tracks after two years as I would like to see what is added as of what tracks I enjoyed from the pass entries.
However after two years I would still purchase it just to have forty eight new tracks to race on as I have not played Mario kart eight the year after it was ported on the switch. Hopefully a new physical version is released with the complete title with every DLC in it.
I love trains
asdfmovie reference
Another thing I noticed is none of the tracks have anti-gravity sections
im no video game developer, but i think it wouldve been easier for nintendo to make the courses look like the original game since the assets are already in the game rather than make them look like tour, so i dont know maybe they want to go towards a more cartoony style, and im fine with it, i just wanna play toad circuit EDIT: YOU TAKE THAT BACK TOAD CIRCUIT IS THE BEST TRACK IN THE GAME, THOSE BIG TOADS WILL SMITE YOU WHERE YOU STAND PESANT
I'm literally named after the game in the intro also you have more footage of car quest on your channel than Vasko
All of the graphic department's budget went to the music department.
1:15 bro, there is no line of code for grass, its just trexture and animation (that i dont think they even have this)
Your dog is so cute!
You think they might update the graphics of wave 1 with the release of wave 2
Toad Circuit is better on the 3ds thats not suppose to be normal
While I don't hear the fnf of what you mean on ninja hideaway I almost feel the same about the stages
Just gba sky gardens feels a lil wack since it feels like the version they used was made for a mobile game...and that's cause it was along with getting rid of cool shortcuts that I loved about the stage with looks being the most ok I can give it.
While my favorite one was ninja hideaway idk I like how vertical and options it is
All I hope for is if they add Wii or 3DS rainbow road they don't screw it up.
i wanna say thanks for not using a shitty japanese accent for the nintendo bit
Joke's on you! I've got Mario and Diddy Kong for FREEH!!!!! >:D
I was excited to get the dlc but not anymore. I don’t want more mobile games infecting my fun console games, and that’s what this dlc is.
Thanks.
When I played some of these courses online (instead of buying it) my first thought was how plain and rushed it looked ,idk it looks plastic to me.
5:35 WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!?!?
OK but hear me out, coconut mall
Yeah, the more I learned about this "dlc" the more I laughed out loud.
A Decisive Banger
'compared to the old outdated textures'?
..i wouldn't call the base game textures of 8/8dx outdated, they still look great, and the Wii U/Switch are the most powerful Nintendo consoles.. ever. (which shows how weak switch is, but y'know, handheld privileges.)
besides, i don't think many people are saying the booster pack tracks have better textures than base game, it's quite the opposite honestly.
@@chickennugget6684
Yeah I get that but, its retro tracks that you could only play with every edition of the games which most people don’t own / even played all the games so this allows people like me & newcomers to get their feel of Mario Kart without buying old hardware & old games.
I fear rest of the courses will be just copied from mario kart tour
hopefully they aren't, if they bring back maple treeway and it looks like that garbage? gods nope.
..but unfortunately, they probably will..
Challenge for Nintendo fans (most will fail):
being grateful :)
@@JaydenCollectsBalloons why would you have to be grateful for something that costs money
I just hope they add waluigi pinball
8"

I just stuttered again at 8":4455 PM so maybe?
I'm not great tat this, I'm just trying to be good for the two who appear to be dancing with me when I'm practically blind, plus mhy rem my remaining blonede blonde but very stressed cat who's still just a Kidd
Is it better to buy the MK8D DLC or just subscribe to Nintendo Online Expansion?
probably buy the DLC on it's own if you don't intend to play all those N64 games, either way you're still paying o$20-80 a year depending on where you live just by paying for base NSO if you play online.
Mr. Space man I am once again requesting a fire emblem tier list
