"People in the Ivory towers how don't have children specially" "they're the ones proposing everything's environmental". So much truth in those words, for the sake of humanity Ivory towers should be brought the hell down, for good!
I have a couple questions after watching this. Why do older siblings tend to have higher IQ's than their younger siblings? (If the presumption that older children have higher IQ's is false, then please show a study.) I had the impression that parents were strict with their first child, and then become less strict with their other children as time goes on. In the video it is mentioned that when it comes to nurture, there is the influence of the parents along with the influence of peers. In my family, it seems my sister (who is older) has been influenced by our parents the most, while my brother (who is younger) has been influenced by his peers the most. I am in the middle. Maybe it is because when there is only one child, the parent pays a lot of attention to that child, so then that child gets rewarded for any interaction with the parent. Then as they get older, they see the second child gets attention too and they get jealous because they used to have all the attention. Also, sometimes older siblings are expected to take care of younger siblings by the parent, so the need to be aligned with the parents is higher. Thoughts?
In Czech we say that the "the oldest child hews way for the other siblings". It means the first child has to discover everything on its own, while the others have shortcut: They can just follow behavior has been shown successful. I would speculate that due to this, the younger siblings never learn to rely on themselves as much as the oldest one does. We need to look at it at the moment of writing the test since that is when the IQ is measured: The oldest child might have more experience (and thus self-confidence) in facing challenging problems, while the others might more easily shy away from them. But again, a big big speculation. Which study does the notion come from? How many studies show that, how big was the sample, what was the statistical significance, what kind of methods they used... Unless it is multitude of studies that point to this finding, I would be cautious.
Thank You for this series. It's great. I like that you are showing opinions of each other to them. I like to see their reactions (which sometimes are quite self-defence to me) AND PLEASE ! :) What is the song in 1:20 (when waking up) starting with : "im walking backward thru the time and i've noticed the lessons that they tought us twisted stories..." It is beautiful song and I cannot find it! please help
21:33 "well I'm not guessing, I'm saying about 50, 60, 70 percent is due to genetic differences" - Sure as hell sounds like a guess to me, roflmfao. I mean, I'm betting on the percentage varying from person to person. Brains vary from person to person, that's how they evolved from scratch, but I think I'm on that guy's side with the higher percentage being genetic. If his adoptive parents thing wasn't complete bollocks it makes sense.

I think the people on the street are wise enough, I think the Problem are the academics... :-)

Let your children mold themselves, while always remembering that they are children and will run out into the busy highway while your back is turned.
