Wow what an effort thank you
STREETS OF RAGE 2 MUSIC WAS SO EPIC!!
Sega deserves an award for best sound chip in the gaming history
Made by Yamaha. They know a thing or two about sound chips.
PREACH!!!!
Indeed. Still recall every major song from my games. They're part of me, I'm going to imprint that thing on my gravestone.
@@neilmclean1527ym2612 fm synthesizer 4 operators and 8 algorithms
😅😅😅 Riight 👍🏾💯
These sounds take me back to a simpler beautiful time in my life..
Real shit
I hear that
Same feeling here
Me too
Same
All children should have to start on Sega then work their way up!!!
Cant wait to hear what the Streets of Rage 4 soundtrack will bring. Major hype!

#LetsGetIt
It would be amazing if koshiro and kawashima were back on board, fingers crossed 🤞🏽
I can’t wait how it turns out.
+Yuzoboy I guess we'll find out.
If yuzo isn't making the music, is it even streets of rage?
Best music from the 16 bit era. Even the SNES fans of the time were crazy about this.
I can't vouch for that, but I'm convinced that's true :P
Yeah I generally prefer SNES sounds, but like, SoR blows any SNES or other Genesis songs out of the water.
Hellfire has awesome music too, for the Genesis, but it still sounds very "Genesis-y"
SEGAAAAA!!!
SNES soundchip was obviously better since it could replicate real sounds way better but I find it's aged fucking terribly, a lot of the instrumentation just sounds muffled and poorly recorded. Whereas the Genesis has some crisp fucking sounds that are good for metal and rock, hip hop beats, and electronic beats, sounds less realistic but I find it's aged so much better, just sounds clearer, I can tell it's a game sure but I can still bump sonic, SOR, and Hard Corps tracks to this day while there's nothing in the SNES library I can really tolerate much.
Concrete Jungle is amazing.
Twelve years old & constantly plying this at full volume equals a lifelong love for House, Synths & Techno...
I finally beat SoR3 by myself at age 37 four nights back. This mix is like a victory lap! 😁
Hard to believe this music is from a 16bit console
Genesis with its Yamaha YM2612 is a slightly trimmed Yamaha DX7 for lack of a better description.
And yet that YM2612 evokes many emotions around the world.
QuackShot, Castle of Illusion, Rocket Knight Adventures, Kid Chameleon, ToeJam & Earl, Streets of Rage, Shining Force (and of course Sonic)?
Uh, Duh? The entire Genesis archive has just about something for erevyone.
Heck why not, even the ROM hackers that really know what they'er doing can take outside songs and give them their own YM2612 taste.
UM2612 was a fairly under-rated chip (my FM UnderDog)
It dared to do what other companies failed to do!
All righty then, that oughta be enough...
@@BlindLibrary The synth also give them better quality believe it because the entire sega game 16bit become mostly legendary 80s/90s Retro also Sega CD too
@@BlindLibrary I guess you could say Sega does what Nintendon't!
FM synthesys is it's own thing
The Sega Mega Drive/Genesis has the most underrated sound chip of all time.
I don't get the love for the SNES' sound. I thought the Mega Drive sounded much more 'mature' and rich. The SNES is tinny by comparison. Case in point: NBA Jam Tournament Edition. Sooo much more depth in the Mega Drive version!
Lol
@@MikeJackson690 I think the SNES was arguably better in its day, it could sort of emulate orchestral sounds in a way that was quite impressive in the early 90s. However, the Mega Drive has aged much better, as it has a cleaner, more synthetic and therefore more pure sound that's more suited for the sort of nostalgic, techno-infused tunes that remain popular today. It's kind of the difference between early 3D, which looks terrible today, compared to earlier 16 bit 2D games which look just as crisp and smooth as they ever did.
@@DodderingOldMan pretty much. SNES did melodic music better and Genesis did bassy techno and hip hop music better
@@DevilJin01 and metal; do not forget Thunder Force IV like that so casually
The first time I played this game in 1992 was absolutely hilarious I was only 7 years... oh my gosh what experience! All the kids learn about this era please
I listen to this every day. God bless your soul.
This just proves that no matter what technology is available a true artist will make a master piece
SOR 3 music is highly underated. In my opinion, it was Yozo's finest work. He was freely expressing himself without compromising his sound to please the masses. It's high level creativity that fit the game very well. Mission accomplished Yuzo, you're a Legend.
Don't forget Motohiro Kawashima!
@@MacJaxonManOfAction You're right!
I think the SOR2 soundtrack was way tighter and more groundbreaking, but hey, to each their own. Definitely some tracks on the SOR3 OST that were absolutely excellent.
The streets of rage 3 track uses automated composing the fm patches made push the ym2612 to its limits and the hard core techno sound track is very unique for a video game. Yuzo and motohiro are literally pioneers in fm techno. Its way better then modern edm music.
From a UK perspective, having house and rave music in a video game was timed perfectly. People thought this game was the coolest thing ever because of the music, even Nintendo fans liked it. For the first time, kids would be hooking up their consoles to the HiFi so that they could play the music louder! On top of that, it was such a great 2 player game. You really felt like you was playing an arcade machine. Back then, having an arcade experience was everything.
That SoR1 Intro and Stage 1 music... Was hooked on the series from the first few notes.
how deep I miss these days though I live in Kurdistan of Iraq, we only had Mega Drive around SNES was not available in our region, but Sega was everything for us.
No need to feel bad. Genesis had some serious evidence of awesome work.
Sure it had its meh titles, but for what was awesome them music and sounds just made it that much better.
That damn robot; he just took my last ring and I'll just barely make this last hit on him!
This mix makes me wanna walk down the street kicking over trash cans looking for turkey and cake while serving up ass whoopins
And kicking punks... Just if they're walking alone and aren't so strong...
Don't forget giant apples!
Streets of Rage 4, here I come!
All aboard, the hype train!
NO SNES GAME CAN TOUCH 11:04sec! NOT *ONE*!!! Damn, even as a SNES fan I don't care. That music track was Godly when it hit!
Only SNES games that can come close is Super Castlevania or Ninja Warriors.
Never Return Alive is easily the best track on the Genesis.
Coolest song in video game history
I swear if Yuzo isn't on the 4th game's soundtrack, I'm probably not gonna play it.
Half of SOR was the music for me, surely the game is amazing, but dude the soundtrack had me always coming back
I agree, except with SoR3. It didn't have as many good songs compared to 1 & 2.
Not to mention: The Poets?
Really awesome fm synthesis sound design that why I want to learn it
I’m so glad I found this. The fact that it’s mixed like if it was being played at a club is f’n amazing! Mad props!
I can hear the love and care you put into this video . all songs mixed flawlessly, extra sounds and effects at the right time , excellent!
9:56 is the best one imo, love SOR2 so much
I remember playing this game with the sound very loud cuz i freakin loved the music. Such good memories!
Listening to this mix tape through my walkman, wearing leather jacket, gold chain around neck while walking in ghetto part of Detroit
and then you get shot game over in 8 miles lmao
Getting interesting looks, I ponder.
The neophytes know of Genesis, but probably not this game series (or music)?
What a great mix
I absolutely love the soundtracks that Yuzo created. This music is the very reason why I go back to play through all the Streets of Rage games over and over
15:40 - that transition is awesome!
Missing the best tune for me... Keep the Groovin' (Stage 4 SOR1) :(
Gym playlist updated
legendaryguy09 agreed 💪🏾😅
Bruhhhh that was epic that mix on Expander!!!!
Absolute stormer of a mix mate, not embarrassed to admit I’ve been thrashing it on repeat while working at my computer 😂
3 years later still pumping this hard. 💣
Thanks Yuzoboy!
I really enjoyed this ,I’m 53 years old and played these games when I was 18 till ……..
The music of this game was one of a kind then
Btw…the part from 14.41 till 15.50 gave me the goosebumps 😂
This is definitely on my workout playlist
this could literally go unnoticed the whole night playing in a nightclub this shit such a BOP
Anyone remember that feeling when this song hit? 4:36 So iconic. The best of the series!
I managed to cook every I had to for my family and it ended at the same time than the music
Score: 3757 (Hi-Score)
BEST SOUNDTRACK EVERRRRRRRR. PERIODTTTTTT.
I'm always listening to your mix at the gym, it makes me feel awesome ;) Thanks a lot for that !
After hearing the Streets of Rage intro for the first time today I wanted to hear more from this man and holy fuck is the stretch of songs from SoR2 straight bangers the whole way. I’m a new man. I love you Yuzo Koshiro.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Yuzo Koshiro's music :)
Listening in preparation for SoR 4. I never heard this megamix before, but I love it!!!
Best childhood ever playing this game
Listening to this makes me feel like Galsia is around the corner waiting to rob my apple
That 4:35 mix is dope af
Was devastated when I couldn’t find this on my SoundCloud anymore but glad it’s still here on the channel!
What a great gift. Thanks for the listen! :D
Now you gotta include Streets of Rage 4
Wild to think that the same guy composed these absolute landmark soundtracks while also composing the (also excellent) soundtrack to ActRaiser for the SNES. Couldn't be farther apart if you tried.
16bit but such a beautiful quality. good old , game-addicted days...
This is such a mesmerizing mix! You did a fantastic job meshing these transitions together. Yuzo Koshiro truly was a master at not only working with in the Genesis/Megadrive's sound chip, but also bringing the best out of it.
Oh wow... Huge fan of retro games, retro game music, drum n bass... Never once have I heard retro game music mixed like this. That's amazing!
Excellent work. Just excellent.
notice how not a single soul gives a care for SoR3's music. Big OOF
I care. I love it just as much I love the first two.
I'm a SNES fan but, this is awesome. So is Yuzo Koshiro who is clearly the best game music writer
FLAC quality sounds great
I was an SNES loyalist as a kid, but this is the best beat 'em up of all time.
When it changes to the next Streets of Rage game 9:50 & 24:23
⚡️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Moments like these is why I preferred Sega over Nintendo 😎
Back then kids were like " I want a Sega genisis! It's 16 bit!" Parents: "what's that?" Kids: "I don't know."
Any way this is a great game with even better sound tracks.
Great mix! ✨🤜🏼💥
masterpiece bring me back to the good old days
I had to get OUT of my CHAIR for the SoR2 transition
Yamaha YM2612 FM equates to legit tunes. Abadede would approve!
ohh God i was 5 years old when my uncle give me saga console with 2 games .streets of rage and sonic . now i have 3 kids oldest is 5 years old playing on Nintendo switch .
PlayStation and Xbox generation have no idea how old classic games were enjoyable and fun .
Smooth transitions
Loved the layering, and then Expander (From 2) just jumps in out of nowhere, which is appropriate because it's very different than the rest of the soundtrack. On this mix it sort of starts the descent into 3 where it would fit right in.
So smoob
Way ahead of its time aka a classic.
Powerful music. Remember when I'm just 11 yo boy and playing this game, better, listening these musics, I was just pure feelings and emotion
"Yuzo" respect from Georgia
These damn double ads are broking every drops omg I'm dying in my head
GO FIRE!
Great mix!! Love it
23:57 - 24:05
dayum that drop gets me every time
it still does
I'm listening to this in a infinite loop while SoR4 isn't released
Never heard such an epic intro to a beat em up
i just listened the concert live stream and your remix is better in my opinion
That "Boss/Inga Rasen" transition was SICK!
I also enjoyed mixing that part, will likely do a full remix of those two!
3:02 made me ask a coworker for a fresh pair of pants. Thank you sir
You still got it. Your that type of god who never dies.
this is the most beautiful remix of the best game of all time
So much Nostalgia! I´m so happy and looking forward to play Streets of Rage 4.
Please do a sonic 1,2,3 and knuckles super mix 🙏
this is one factor why it's better than final fight
yuzo koshiro is such an inspiration
Great mix 👌👍🔥
3 it's to crazy I just can't do those tracks that much. The game was fun though and I loved ofcoure 4.
Awesome work on this dude! All the scratching at the start is a nice touch and the mixing between tracks is flawless.
the best! even now, after SoR4 game and music, i think this is better
Sega'nın en iyi oyunlarından, oyunu oynarken müzikleriyle ritmi bulmak ve oyunu bitirmek çok eğlenceliydi. Bu oyun müzikleri muhteşem. Yuzo Koshiro adamsın. Hala severek dinliyorum.
EXCELENTE!!! Que recuerdos de mi ¡GENESIS!
Yuzo the goat
I don't understand why he don't bring stage 8 of sof1. The last soul is so good
The Music was better than i expected i liked the DJ
Now do this with the Double Dragon games and I can die a happy man.
Flawless Victory
Já tenho oq escutar quando for tomar uma no sábado!
29:38 Yamato's theme f*ck YEAH! Best Boss theme ever
