  • In this video Siem Reap Angkor In A Day I give you an account of how you can spend a day in the Angkor Archeological Park from sunrise at Angkor Wat to finishing off at the crown jewel of Angkor Thom, The Bayon. In between I fitted in some of my favorite spots including Ta Prohm, The Tomb Raider Temple. It's certainly a personal choice how you spend that day at this amazing site but I feel in order to make it a memorable and lasting experience you need to spend a good amount of time at the most significant temples and complexes if you want a memorable and lasting experience. If you're a trophy hunter and just out to get to as many places as you can with the thought that you may never be back that's certainly your choice and if you're comfortable with that type of experience then do it. This video is not about ticking off a long list but visiting some of the best sites in the park and making a connection with these places. That's what I value the most when I visit a place like the Angkor Archeological Park. I've been fortunate to have the time in the past to see most all of the complexes and temples in the park over a two week period. I know that most people that visit only have one day so I thought I would give myself the same boundaries and see what the experience is like when you only have one day. I can safely say that it can be a wonderful experience if you keep your list of places short and spend at least 1-2 hours at each site. I hope you enjoy the video and advice. If you'd like to contact my driver and friend Davin to book his tuk-tuk for the day you can contact here:phone or WhatsApp-85587703378

It seems very quiet and peaceful. I was there Oct 2017 and was very busy. Siem Reap is on my list for retirement. Thank you for the video.

Yes it’s exceptionally quiet at the moment due to the drop in tourism from the coronavirus situation. Early in the morning is very peaceful at the sites.

Hi I came across your channel today. Felt like reminiscing about Cambodia, a place I've visited a couple of times and feel a strong attachment to. I follow many travel vloggers and while I enjoy most of them for entertainment value or for info about places I might want to travel to, I dont necessarily relate to them. Maybe its an age group thing, but I got to say I really liked your style.

Thanks John! I admire your knowledge for the temples. My guide gave me dates, but I wanted more information. You gave me more! I cannot wait for my upcoming return. I think I would like to experience Ta Prohm just after dawn, as well! It was so full of people, as to be expected when I was there mid-day, I want to experience the quiet and the birds also. TY!

Great video - Thank you very much. I have visited all the temples in Angkorwat some three years ago and spent three days visiting all the places. ?Your videos made me relive my visit. Thankyou. I just want to remind you that the Bayone temple is for Brahma (Hindu God) and not that of Budha as believed by many people. Thanks again. Nehru E. Cherukupalli, New York

Thanks very much! although there are Hindu depictions in the Bayon Temple including that of Brahma King Jayavarman VII who built the temple was Buddhist so it wouldn’t have been conceived as a Hindu temple originally. However his successors possibly could have changed it over. The state religion was always determined by the king. The Angkor Wat temple itself was built as a Hindu Temple as were others.Of course you’re free to worship it anyway you choose.

Thanks very much! It’s definitely quieter and locals I think are feeling the pressure. Lots of smiles despite what’s going on but expect everyone in the service industry to be wearing masks.
