Hello Orly, I just found you recently and want to thank you for sparking my imagination. When I worked in the '70s , 80s, 90, up to 1995, I made everything I wore except bras and panties. Even made and designed swim suits. Then I went to university while raising a son as a single parent, then went to work. Now I'm 63 and just moved out to a beautiful country location. I have a sewing work table my dad made for me years ago, a sewing machine, a serger, time, everything I could possibly want or need .... but no inspiration ... that is until I started watching your videos. I'm really excited about using some of your ideas to see what I can come up with! Thank you so much! You are smart, refreshing, beautiful, and have great ideas and present everything so well.
So happy to hear when someone else is looking out for the animals in their area. Such a small gesture to leave out building materials for the birds but such a huge act of kindness! ❤️❤️
First of all - GET OUT OF TOWN! These are so cool! I made the original frayed jeans when you showed it on H&F - I get complimented on them every time I wear them! But these others? Making them today! Whoa!
You do such an amazing job with all of your creative ideas. I absolutely love your style and your modelling sessions! I always have to watch right from beginning to end because there's something mesmerizing about you!
Yesterday I saw so many styles in the mall and I really thought: I want that. And here you come. Thanks. As soon as I am back home in Germany (currently I’m in Denver) I will do this to a couple of my unworn jeans. Together with a former hack of yours (paint / splatter) and use the remaining material for handbags 👜. I could get some glue (finally) at Michaels yesterday . Finally.
Love your work. A suggestion if I may. Once you have made a start on undoing undoing the hem with the seam ripper turn it over so the ball part is on the inside. I saw this method on another channel and it stops accidentally cutting the fabric. It’s faster too.
This will save so much money and the fit will be better because I can buy the best fitting jeans and make them look better. Thank you so much for showing these tricks. I love them!
Per Usche, Excellent Stuff! 🙌🏼😘...... Tailor Tip, when seam ripping jeans use the ball tip side of the seam ripper so you don't tear or snag the denim!
I’ve been binge watching you as I just discovered you last week! I feel like you’re the thinner edgy-er me I wish I portrayed. I would LOVE to see 2 videos from you in particular. Yes many others have done them but I feel like you get me! 1. Summer capsule wardrobe 2. How to style edgy looks and conceal a belly, a big non-prego belly. Thanks!
Just cause it may be helpful : the seam ripper is best used with the ballpoint inside the seam rather than outside, it prevents the possibility of puking the fabric with the pointy part ❤️ lovely and clever hacks as always!!
This video I really searched to view how to fray denim jeans. I am currently working on improving my old denim jeans that I had cut into shorts for summers. I had just today decided to fray the bottom of a pair of shorts. I'm glad I found this DIY video. It is very inspiring and it has reassured me that I already knew what to do to get the desired look. DIY video I'm getting some more cool ideas from these type of videos. Pretty awesome!
Thank you!!! I miss you on Fridays....kid you not your videos were one of the things I looked forward to on Fridays. ❤️ Great to see you on Sundays too!
I am love this video so much!!!! So, I am a glam girl. When I have holes/rips in my jeans, I put lace on the inside. I pin it in, use an embroidery hoop to baste it in. If it is in a pressure point, I reinforce it with glue. I rarely cut the threads of the fray unless they look hideous. Now that I said I'm a glam girl, I think I need to sew some Swarovski beads to some of the lace!!! I have also outlined some of the small rips with that cheap rhinestone stuff you buy at dollar tree. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you rugged cut the gem and added the dark denim. WOW!! As I was watching you use the seam ripper, I was always taught to put the ball side of the seam ripper inside the seam. Thoughts anyone?
Teresa Haven: if you mean the ball part is on the bottom, the long edge is on top, and the threads of seam are against the curved portion of seam ripper, then you are right. This allows you to just push the seam ripper along the threads and cut those stitches of the seam, quick and easy. Suppose the ball could be on top, I was just taught years( over 50) ago to turn the ripper over/ball of bottom.
This is such a good way to style refresh some denim that have lost their place in your closet favorite status. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
patching the holes is so much easier if you open the side seam up to the thigh. Then sew the side seam up after the patch is sewed on. I saw a professional seamstress do this on a video, it helps! I love all your videos.
My favorite are the slanted/angled edge with fray and the blue thread removal to expose the white thread! I feel like I understand the workings of jeans so much better now, thank you Orly! Yours is the perfect channel to watch on the weekends when I'm feeling crafty!
I did a Google search cuz I wanted to put some patches behind my open knees in the jeans and your video came up and I'm really happy with all your suggestions thank you. I'm going to follow you
RTM featured you altering the flannel shirts and making the flannel dress. I just flipped out! You are exactly the kind of DIY sewer that I didn't know I needed to subscribe to. ✔️This video on the jeans is absolutely amazing. I just cut off a pair of jeans and now I need to do some cuts to begin the fraying. I was just going to let the washer do it but this is so much better. Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much for your content and keeping things interesting and up dated for your viewer's to be able to make use of things we have instead of filling a trash bag and landfill. I was able to save a sweater I love so much by transforming into a repurposed item. 😊🍀
THANK YOUUUUU SO MUCH FOR THIS ❤. I've seen jeans similar to what you created.. I either couldn't find my size or didn't want to pay the price for them. However I have a pile of jeans I don't wear that can be altered for the same effect I'm looking for. YAY!
I love your channel - This is awesome I love how you keep us on trend, teach us how to do it. TY I saw the video where you show us how to make a blinged out version of timbaland boot. I work in manufacturing, I'm going to bling out a pair. Your are making fashion accessible and fun. Keep up the videos. TY
You are awesome!!! I always come away from watching your diy's with more ideas for other projects, that means you have super duper inspirational powers!!! Plus you give great fashion moments at the end of every video!! Extra extra!!!
This video is excellent! A slight tweak that I would love assistance with is creating minimal fraying of existing flared jeans and retaining the hem. Also, adding a slit with minimal or no fraying.
Thank you thank you thank you so so much for showing us how to get the white horizontal threads isolated. I've tried to figure it out on my own without success, but now I think I can do it thanks to your tutorial. You rock!
OMG! Orly...another epic DIY. I love the way you demo and explain these ulta-cool ways to zzhoojz (sp?) up jeans. Crisp and comprehensive at the same time, amazing. I'm so excited cuz I have a million pairs of jeans I can update. I'm also forwarding this vid to my crafty friends, in case they missed it. THX, thx, thx. ❤️❤️❤️
These are super cute. Would you have a suggestion...I have a pair of shorts that had the white horizontal thread exposed, but now several have ripped away and I don't like how they look anymore... Do you have a suggestion (or suggestions) of what could be done in place of or to fix them? Maybe a future video?
When I was in school I was obsessed with pulling threads out of my jeans and I completely forgot that until I saw a couple UA-cam videos over the last couple of days 🤣
If you want to control the length of the fringes, sew right around where you want then to stop, preferably with a narrow sizsag, or a straight stich. You can possibly also do freycheck on the back, but not sure if that would work as well. Love the tutorial, came back to it today as I needed to findout how to do horisontal freying. 🙂
Fabulous video, quick and easy instructions! Love to DIY my clothes! Thank you! Where do you find the little iron that you use in your video? Thanks for info!
I just love you! You always teach me so much! I love this DIY for all the hems, and you always make it doable. But the greatest tip for me today was how to cover up the gaping slashes. I want to rock jeans until I die! Love that look, but self conscious about the skin. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you for letting me know my ideas of how to change my wardrobe to use pieces I love for any season. I need to know what type and brand of fabric glue you use that's permanent and clear. I have permanent colored paints I use but really need a permanent clear glue. Thanks 🍀
I need to know what type of fabric glue you use. I don't have a good connection where I live and unless the product is shown clearly I don't find out. I live far from any civilization. Lol. Arkansas.
Okay, absolutely adore you smart Baby-Girl... Can't even imagine being "In Touch" with others my exact same age. You Rock. Love watching your channel 💗💗💗 pkg
Such a great video! I did just watch another one though where he used a serrated knife to distress and it worked really well! You might try it! Much less work, but can’t wait to try all your techniques! I literally just cleaned out all my jeans today so now I can practice this!
Great advice and very good tips! I really like making adjustments to my denim, but these are such awesome ideas, I’ve never seen before… so cute, love them. If you see this comment, I’ve got a couple pair of new denim shorts that I’d like to fray above the button, the waistband. They’re supposed to be low rise, but still a little too high for my body shape. High waists just are not flattering for my body. I’m gonna watch some more of your posts, because I just found you, but I’d like to see the waist frayed. Or, if you have any thoughts on how to lower the waist a bit. I know a lot of it is the actual rise, but I thought fraying the seem around the waist might help. Thanks.
I have a pair that I’m wanting to shorten the length and fringing the hem, but how do you get the long white strings that extend quite a bit beyond the length of the fringe? Would you create a longer fringe all together and then trim it to your desired length, while pulling out the white strings you want to leave long? That seems tedious, so I’m hoping you have a simpler solution lol! Love your work!!!
Hi Orly, I really love your designs. I just stumbled upon your tutorials and I love!!!! I am new to fraying and loving it!! Like the others said I’m so looking forward to trying some of these designs on my jeans and shorts. Thank you so much and keep the tutorials coming!!
I love coming back to your videos for reference! I bought a new pair of denim shorts with the intention of distressing them...with the hip of this video! Haha
Loving this one ORLY🤩💖🤩 I have quite a collection of denim , going to be doing a bunch of these. I absolutely love the way you made made some longer, and the added Ed texture of the mixed color of denim.💙🤍💙

Thank you for sharing!
I use a good stiff hairbrush to fray the denim , put the threads outside for the birds in your yard to make nests, your tutorials are fantastic!
thanks Debbie!
Oh yes! The birds use our dogs fur!! ❤️
So happy to hear when someone else is looking out for the animals in their area. Such a small gesture to leave out building materials for the birds but such a huge act of kindness! ❤️❤️
That’s a kind gesture, but baby birds get tangled in threads. Please reconsider leaving your threads for the birds.
First of all - GET OUT OF TOWN! These are so cool! I made the original frayed jeans when you showed it on H&F - I get complimented on them every time I wear them! But these others? Making them today! Whoa!
This looks sooooo chic!! Thanks for the ideas and tutorials, will definitely do this.
It's like you were reading my mind Orly! This is exactly what I've been wanting to do with some of my jeans. You teach techniques better than anyone.
Well that makes my day. Thank you!
True That Kelly B .. Orly is The Best ❣
You do such an amazing job with all of your creative ideas. I absolutely love your style and your modelling sessions! I always have to watch right from beginning to end because there's something mesmerizing about you!
Catherine!! this comment is so nice, thank you!
My favorites are the double layered & curved cut out with the sneaker jeans 👖🥰👟
sooo very easy!
My favorite pair are the dark patch/extended. Can’t wait to try these out.

I love these ideas! Here’s another. Use your seam ripper in the opposite direction so the little ball is inside the seam. You can rip away. Good job.
Orly, thank you for the inspiration, I can’t say which pair of jeans is my favorite so I pick ALL!!! 😍😙😜😜😜
Per Usche, Excellent Stuff! 🙌🏼😘...... Tailor Tip, when seam ripping jeans use the ball tip side of the seam ripper so you don't tear or snag the denim!
oh thank you!!
Per Usche? What language is this?
@@Ra-rg1vk per usual ……
Orly you are JEAN…UIS 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻Definitely trying all of these xPx
hahah have fun!

omg yes!!!!

Orly got her groove back!!! Excellent video. Thank you.
Love all the ideas, but those white Fringe jeans are outstanding!💕
I've worn them twice already and I love them WAY more than I thought I would lol
I love that mini iron! So need one of those!!
Cricut Mini Press
My fav were the last in your model session. I like the way the angled hem looked with boots. Super cute, Orly!
thank you!
patching the holes is so much easier if you open the side seam up to the thigh. Then sew the side seam up after the patch is sewed on. I saw a professional seamstress do this on a video, it helps! I love all your videos.

I wonder if these Frankenstein pants look good on a short 60 year old. I really love how you recycle stuff … big fan . Keep up the good work
My mom is in her 70's and she looks so stinkin' cool with her jeans that have holes and different color jeans patching the holes.
I did a Google search cuz I wanted to put some patches behind my open knees in the jeans and your video came up and I'm really happy with all your suggestions thank you. I'm going to follow you

THANK YOU so much for your ideas again. Now, I will try to 'fix" a few pairs of my jeans.
Thank you I'm in my early 50s & trendy want to wear denim with holes but a little more discreet love the cover up version thank you !!!
I loved every one of the jeans I’m trying every pair ☺️☺️☺️

I love that idea, my mother has a lot of those table covers from Paris and all over. Thank you for sharing. Fantastic video
This video is excellent! A slight tweak that I would love assistance with is creating minimal fraying of existing flared jeans and retaining the hem. Also, adding a slit with minimal or no fraying.
I am loving the second pair of jeans and the wide legged jeans with the slit at the bottom. What cool ways to update jeans that were “so last season”.
Thank you thank you thank you so so much for showing us how to get the white horizontal threads isolated. I've tried to figure it out on my own without success, but now I think I can do it thanks to your tutorial. You rock!
Wow! I love the jeans, all of them so much! Fabulous!
Any suggestions on modernizing a skinny leg jean?
The release Hem thats crazy amazin🎉🙏👍
Every one of them are very cute!! 😍
thank you! i'm doing the released hem and the front cut to my thrift jeans, i liked their fit, but they were a bit short
Totally awesome saved me hundreds in flared jeans n bell bortoms...I want more lol your the bomb!
Beyond wonderful! Fantastic presentation!!!!!!!!

My new spring jean creations!!! 😍😍😍 thank you so much Orly for the share! Your work is always amazing!!!
I love that you gave us a “warning”☺️! I actually “flashed back” to shredded bell-bottoms and jean skirts whoa!😳
I like the ombre effect that results from removing the bottom hem. That's pretty cool.
You could connecy your added denim to hems and patches to a lining. Which would make it perfect for winter.
These are super cute. Would you have a suggestion...I have a pair of shorts that had the white horizontal thread exposed, but now several have ripped away and I don't like how they look anymore... Thanks! 😉
When I was in school I was obsessed with pulling threads out of my jeans and I completely forgot that until I saw a couple UA-cam videos over the last couple of days 🤣
This was a FANTASTIC video with endless uses!! Thank you!
So glad!
Do you have a fix for pants that slip down the front at work? Loved these "fixes"!
If you want to control the length of the fringes, sew right around where you want then to stop, preferably with a narrow sizsag, or a straight stich. I love this video! You do an amazing job teaching techniques. Can you tell me the brand of jeans of the ones with the hem undone with bellbottoms?
I love your tutorials and you are so cute!! Thank you for all the wonderful ideas
Just came across this video! You are SO talented! I can't wait to go thru my jeans and make them unique!!! ❤
These all look so awesome! I need to find a pair of jeans that fit me and look good on me to do one or two of these.
Thank you for giving us the good tuition, it is very useful!😃

What did you do after you cut the waistband off the jeans?
I love that little iron!

I did things like this 20 years ago 😁 great that diy is back.
I have a pair that I’m wanting to shorten the length and fringing the hem, but how do you get the long white strings that extend quite a bit beyond the length of the fringe? Would you create a longer fringe all together and then trim it to your desired length, while pulling out the white strings you want to leave long? Bravissima!!! Ti seguo dall'Italia!! Good job!!😊
Hi Orly, I really love your designs. I just stumbled upon your tutorials and I love!!!! I am new to fraying and loving it!! Like the others said I’m so looking forward to trying some of these designs on my jeans and shorts. Thank you so much and keep the tutorials coming!!
Just Fantastic. Thank you and a huge hug from Brazil.
What brand mini iron are you using? As always another great instructional video! Kudos💪🏼
All the styles are so cute❤
Any ideas you can do with your skinny jeans that have worn thin?
I love coming back to your videos for reference! I bought a new pair of denim shorts with the intention of distressing them...with the hip of this video! Haha
Loving this one ORLY🤩💖🤩 I have quite a collection of denim , going to be doing a bunch of these. I absolutely love the way you made made some longer, and the added Ed texture of the mixed color of denim.💙🤍💙
thank you so much!!
This so awesome. Thanks for these super cool tips!
You are so talented! Those are all so gorgeous and look great on you! I absolutely loved the angled ones at the end of your video! 💙💜💙
OMG your are awesome !!!! I will start redesigning my jeans wardrobe :-) I am your new fun and best of luck with your channel pretty lady. XO
