Love this design! Can this design be used to build full privacy fence for a yard? Thank you for sharing!

Can you please explain the decision to not use pressure treated posts? Love the video and fence design. Thank you!

Hi Tyler, sorry for the late reply. It was an appearance preference. Since western red cedar resists rot and decay without being treated with preservatives, the project looks better with 100% WRC materials.

The instructions recommend stainless OR hot-dipped galvanized nails. Is it a myth that galvanized will make the cedar bleed? Or does cedar react differently to electrogalvanized vs hot dipped?

What are the dimensions of the wood used for the front stops?

1x2 and 1x1. The 1x2 for the side the slats we nailed into.

@@hassanel-khayat27 since they haven't replied back to your question I'm going to take a wild guess, they're one by six cedar board which is actually three quarters by 5 and 1/2 inches, and the skinnier slacks they just cut that five and a half inch board down the middle making it two and three quarters inches, and the spacing was a scrap of their slat board 3/4 inch thick.

All coastal old growth should be off limits to any logging !
Second growth is ok for sure :)

I'm so confused. This us NOT beginner friendly. The braces were confusing as to where exactly they were placed and why. You will need a bit of knowledge prior to performing these methods step by step and comprehending what you're doing

All the braces do is hold level until the concrete drys. If not it would move while pouring the concrete. You would understand much faster finding a framing home videos, there's on guy that builds entire houses solo, it's literally insane.

Cedar has the lowest carbon footprint? I guess she's never been to a clear cut cedar forest in the west coast of Canada - entire forests decimated.

I’ve worked in the logging industry. People who claim that “entire forests are decimated” need to take a drive down a forest access road, get out of their cars and actually walk into the woods. If the entire forest is decimated there is no concern of getting lost. Let me know how that turns out.

Exactly. All these people who think that “corporate greed” is destroying the forest can’t explain why loggers would put themselves out of business by destroying their supply. 😂😂

@@WRCLA - That link is about Cedar vs. Steel vs. Concrete, not Cedar vs. pressure-treated Pine (which is what I thought you were talking about in the video).
