We shouldn't give up because we are fighting years of poor vocal habituation. We "turn the tide" on this situation through persistent and discipline. Eventually the more efficient coordination will take hold in our nervous system. Until then, we keep at it....

Hey Tyler! You should do a video on rest days. Like typically what do you fo on rest days? Do you do a small warmup? No warm-ups? No talking? I know you probably have a strong enough voice to not worry about rest days, but im curious what you used to do when you were growing.

@@tylerwysong oh awesome! Would love to see what you do. How you manage it through work/daily interactions. If you have small little rules that you notice work best for you. Im also very strict about it because I'm currently growing my mix. I've been practicing your warm-ups for about a year and can finally feel that mix. But it's not wide and powerful yet. I have a powerful full voice but my thin mix might not be ready for that yet.
What is vocal range, I saw a lot of videos about vocal range like A2-C4, kinda like that, but didn't get it. Can you explain it in coming videos. Or can you at least tell how does it work?
Hey Tyler, I have a question. Seth Riggs teaches early bridging, claiming that if you stretch your chest voice higher you will only damage your voice and develop nodules from essentially shouting too much in chest. On the other hand, Ken Tamplin says that you should bridge as late as you can and stretch and thin out your chest voice in order to keep that part of the voice strong. Ken claims you will atrophy your voice if you don’t keep training your upper chest voice and instead rely on early bridging. He says, “Whatever you don’t use, you lose” and that you will lose your ability to stretch chest, which will eventually effect your ability to mix. Ken claims this is the reason why Artists like Axel Rose and Geddy lee lost their voice later on. Who is right? Why are these techniques complete polar opposites? Who do I listen to?
Here’s what I have done in the past. I have tried both ideas for a short period of time and watch and pay attention to how it affects my voice. It doesn’t really matter what anyone tells you to do what matters is how what people tell you to do affects your voice. If it feels good and you sound great then do that. If you’re going hoarse, feel pain, have pitch issues etc then it’s probably not right for you.
I don’t personally ascribe to either of the people you have mentioned because both were incomplete techniques for my voice. But that doesn’t mean either won’t work for some people.
To answer you question directly about who you should listen to. The only person you should listen to in the end is yourself.

@@amali9044 I started with Speech level singing. I am still a certified Brett Manning Associate so that is where I got my start with technique. But since then I have studied with some really amazing teachers such as Ken Bozeman, Nick Perna, Brian Gill, and my current teacher Chadley Ballantyne. My approach is really everything I’ve learned from all of my wonderful teachers combined with my own anecdotal experience of teaching thousands and thousands of voice lessons over the years, as well as my years of singing in bands as well as worship leading for many years.

Hey Tyler, we had vocal lessons. You may remember me by my name, I haven't practiced at all for over a week and I don't know if this is burnout, no motivation, given up or what.... I want to get back into practicing I just don't know how to though. As soon as I put on a singing workout video I just stare at it and just turn it straight off

sometimes I listen back and feel I was singing better before I tried different things, now its hard to go back to where I was.....
I've felt this too at times. I think it's cuz it's a long process with ups and downs. Keep trying the things thr experts are saying, sometimes a small technique shift and then it finally clicks. But I agree it's a confusing and frustrating process sometimes

Yes it’s not a feeling. Listen for it. Don’t feel it. It’s outside our range of feeling.
do i have to be a tenor for mixed voice to work? i think i might be a bass because i can hit low notes super easily but my “mix” is super weak and doesn’t sound chesty
No all voice types can do it. Range will of course differ but the quality of mix anyone can do.
It takes a lot of mindset shift and relaxation for me before I could even start warming up. Lol. Is that normal?

I can hit high notes like c5 or even c5sharp but when it comes to singing I can hardly sing g4 sharp and my mix voice will become to bright if I want to lean on my mask and its ton the color that I want. So can you give me an idea that what is the problem here?
