Taking your kids off grid is one of the best things you can do for them. My youngest took his first steps in a tent on a rainy camping trip. I am taking my boys, now 15 and 19, backpacking for a week in Colorado this summer. I wouldn't trade these times for the world.
seeing you dad - is the missing puzzle ive always had when watching your stuff....youre a great dad.
If I had kids, hell yeah! So many valuable skills and lessons to be learnt off grid.
I have an 18 month old daughter. My first and a true blessing. It’s one of my favorite things taking her outdoors and showing her new things. I always appreciate your videos and knowledge you share. Thanks for taking us for the ride! Take care and keep ‘em coming. Nice rig too!
Hell yeah !!! Been doing for years and they were some of the most adventurous, memory making, family bonding times of all. Late night yabby catching, frog spotting, baby trout collecting, camp cooking etc, just unreal and memories our kids will treasure for the rest of their lives. They can’t be replicated by an app on an iSomething 😁🤔👍 the further away from electricity, wifi and screen time - the better !
great stuff Ronny 👍🇦🇺
When my daughter asked me for a favor I said ok but make me a cup of coffee. She smiled. But I added "without gas or elecricity" 10 minutes later I had a fresh cup of coffee brewed on our Hobo stove. She is a big outdoors enthusiast.
So one day I decided to take her best friend along on a camping trip. First that for freaked out as dozens of exotic butterflies tried to land on our arms to lick salt. She thought they sting! She refused to swim in the crystal clear river because she saw some trout swimming. At breakfast she started removing the little specs of ashes from the freshly baked bread. The rest of the day she was waking around the camp holding her iphone high above her head trying to get cell connection.
We took our kids off grid a few times. Cape York, Simpson Desert crossing, Corner country, Gulf country. My kids have happy memories of those times, & my son is now embarking on adventures with his own young family. Highly recommend it.
Golden memories made right here for the kids. Great video Ronny and great memories made for yourself when you rewatch yourself in about 20 years time. 👍🍻
Love the opening sequence 🤣🤣🤣!
Your channel is the perfect example of how UA-cam has evolved over the last 10 years. Excellent content and filming Ronny. 5 star.
In 2002 , we took our 7 kids ,oldest was 16 youngest was 2, camping around ,and through Australia in am old troopy, and cavalier camper for 10 mths. Had the best time, was hard sometimes, but a great experience, we still laugh about it now. We have 10 grandkids.
The little one hissing in the back seat made me laugh!🤣
At the right age, and if I had kids, I’d totally take them wild camping. For about three seconds at the end I was surprised that you were going to let your oldest daughter drive and though how cool that would be. By the 4th second I remembered that the driver is on the other side in Australia. Lol😂
Brilliant, making happy memories with your girls will set them up for life.
LOVED the B Roll of the sign and sunset ! bet the sun set weakened by the time you set up the tripod and drove past again.
We take our little one everywhere off grid. We feel she thrives with less distractions. We obviously also love it
how old were they when you started going off road?
Took the grandkids last week for a six day trip 👍 A three, and six year old, woke up with ice on the tent three mornings in a row. They loved it!
Best moment is when they wake in the morning, with a smile ear to ear, that happiness is truly priceless!
Great vid Ronny! I have 2 daughters the same age as yours, and I absolutely love traveling with them. They settle in for the drive and just love exploring. I know it is time-limited too, they will hit the age where friends will take precedence over trips with Dad.
Love it, Ronny! It’s great that you get to enjoy that with your girls. Good on ya for taking them.
We took our grandson, who was four at the time, on a month long tent camping trip to Whitehorse in the Yukon. We had a marvelous time he came away with a knowledge of the forest that few his age possessed. He did his first Canadian winter camping trip at two in -35 C. Well done.
Cool Episode! Recently took my eldest daughter camping and we did a 4x4 trail. She loved it!
Your children are going to have some truly amazing memories to think back on. Good on ya mate.
I completely understand what you are on about when it comes to laden and unladen weight, I ( Shock Horror Trauma !) have a decently lifted Forester and I opted for heavy duty springs in the back for when I'm in touring mode and I have to say, when I run without my standard recovery gear in the back between trips, even stuff like basic carpark speedbumps can be gang violent......
This warms my heart. I lost my dad when I was 13. ❤
Fantastic! Really living the dream there! My kids are a similar age and I'm looking forward to taking mine out on a camping trip as well.
I took my 3 year old into the middle of Alaska to hunt and offroad 8 hours each way and he did great.
Best Ronny Dahl episode I've ever seen, love that other stuff, but this trip was next level
Hi Ronny,
traveling with “Angels” love your vid…. Family first…. Yep, not always possible in the real world. Don’t miss out on that time never comes back for it.
Wish you all the best..we did traveling together for 19 years in a row… now 4 years later living 8,000km apart to admit 3 years to much… and miss the time.. bloody Covid …Time for us to make changes now…
To the Audience, have winching kids on a trip?! Ops the the trip is maybe not suitable planned catering for them.
Yes, real winching kids… see on yt “Linda listen” and be happy not in her boots !!!
Nice Sunday arvo
Cheers
My eldest son took me off grid camping in 2019 following in your tyre tracks heading west and starting at Bremer Bay. That caused me to buy a 79. So he / you have got a lot to answer for 🤣
Great to see you back on the tracks!
Starting my little girl (2yo) early. Every weekend we go for a naptime ride and hit the local trails.
Love it! Miss camping with my douther this days, good times.
Mate great video - what a great dad you are - love your work!
we do it all the time in the dry season and in a much simpler (cheaper) set up than you have. they love it.
You’re braver than me Hannah, for going into that cave with all those bats.
This is one of your best videos yet. Very well shot and edited.
Absolutely. Mine have experienced the desolate red sands and yeah you need to break it up for them for sure. Can't be aiming for 1000km days, they hate it! The things they will learn and appreciate about the outback is the best!
Thanks😊
My 5 year old daughter loved this vid.
I would definitely take my kids off grid, get out of the rat race and back to nature. Cooked my kids their first meal in a Dutch oven over an open fire tonight. Many more to come
Took my 4 month old to Steep Point - the lack of mobility actually made it a pretty easy experience. That, and she loved sleeping through the bumpy tracks!
Enjoy it. They grow up SO fast.
doing it right now! 10+7 and they're loving it!
Even with the kids you cannot find a place to camp before the sun goes down, you are a bat Ronny.
My kids love going off grid. Making memories mate. 🍺🇦🇺❤️👍
Great vid Ronny… that was awesome 👍👍
Love taking my 3 out into the middle of nowhere. Great video man. If you make it back to the states come check out the black hills in south dakota/Wyoming. Different from moab, lot of fun though
a fantastic experience for kids to travel off grid, that part of Australia still stuns me
My daughter was 11 months old on her first trip into Africa!
haha your kids are pretty funny, great edit. Enjoyed this episode :D
Fantastic to see you taking your Daughters out best place to be out there exploring better than a child sitting at home gaming. I guess this is the out back of W A .
Great episode mate. I really enjoyed it.
Karibu Tanzania. Your real inspire me for what did on land cruiser 79 series modification. You can enjoy adventure driving safari.
Telescop"ie" ladder that just takes the cake🤣
We took our 7 off for 12 months best thing we ever did. Wandering around outback Australia, we live in a very beautifull free country.
Enjoy the time with the kids as they approach teenagers it becomes a harder sell. Nice to see the "new" rig in action. always a pleasure
Creating great memories that will hopefully spark the overlanding flame in your daughters for when they start their own families 🤙👍
Owsome trip. You are lucky that kids still travel with you. 😉
Cheers. 🍻🥛
This had a bit of a infomercial vibe about it somehow.
I have 2 daughter's like you and I love taking them off road it's so amazing 👏 great video man
WiLDLiFE in your Videos is a Beautiful Content.
(This is why we go 4wheeling)
Mate, that's some Nat Geo level of photography.
"can we have an ice-cream dad?" lol classic. I don't have kids myself but I do remember being a kid and that was me in the back seat (although I don't remember hissing) lol. Sorry Dad if you watch this (Dad does watch these videos) as a kid I was a pain in the arse.
Awesome video! Didn't get this vid in my notifications for some reason. Damn utube 🤣 Cheers 🤘👌🇨🇦
Parenting done right
Definitely… already got ideas for my next trip…. FYI Project Luxy Has inspired my new on going Navara build
Abselutey love your videos
Own a 79 my self here in south africa 🇿🇦 and I'm just inlove with it
Oh so the bonus footage from the 4wd adventure tv show :)
Awesome, good experience learning
The eldest looks impressed😂. But still fun times 👍
This is giving me Patriot Games vibes. Love your content Ronny, would be cool to see your rig driving through Geraldton one day 🤟🏼
my kids have travelled around oz since six months old. my son was the youngest regular contributor for action 4wd at 13 years old and my 12 year old daughter took the pictures.
Love your channel bro
Very nice video to watch!
That was great, funny how the kids just take it in there stride , just 2 of my 9 grandchildren, have taken up camping with me , up to now , remote places are harder to find here in England, and so campsites, are the main option, although wild camping is allowed in Scotland. From Steve near Chester England 🇬🇧 where the Roman's once lived. Cheers 🍻.
Small world, I'm from Little Sutton
Sure is oz bit bigger than ours !
Fellow Cestrian here too! North and Mid Wales are my go to locations for a bit of remoteness, but obviously nowhere near the levels of remoteness of WA
Yes some lovely spots in and around Wales, WA is huge , these utube videos these guys put out gives you a sense of scale to some degree , it's great stuff. 👍
I potty trained my son travelling the outback for years until he started school. Only because School of the air had closed. Had a sat phone and Sat TV some solar panels and a water maker ( old 12v fridge unit rigged to heat the salt water and cool the resulting vapour and collect it). nothing fancy just a 87 magna station wagon
But the 4wd equipment stores lead people to believe you need a capable 4wd with a 2 inch lift, bullbar with brush bars, winch, diff locks and a snorkel just to be able to park your car on the footpath, let alone take it camping.
@@cliffbooth7075 😂😂
Living the damn dream!
@@cliffbooth7075 so true mate! Imagine all the people that would love to get into camping/exploring, but don't because they feel like they need all that gear. Sure there's a place for it, but you can see a lot without it
I see heaps of people camping without much gear at all. Some gear is fluff other is insurance and the rest is either for comfort or is actually needed for that individual
Bloody laughed when you’re youngest daughter was hissing for an ice cream my daughter does the same thing 😂
Lovely kids! Wish to do this too with mine...
Hey Ronny great set up would look good with small pin strips in red (only just a splash) down both sides of the Patriot same height as the truck to join the 2 2gether.
It looks like to me you have the perfect touring set up now when towing a trailer. I think it must be easier to keep within weights but still have all the luxuries of outback touring which I feel you have been doing most of the time. Your tow rig is certainly lighter and all you have to do is disconnect to do the extreme stuff which is not too often. You were against towing a trailer what are your thoughts now?
hahaha this is basically an episode of "how to be an amazing dad!"
I would love too! Great content as always!
Great vid Ronny, what watch is that your're wearing?
Yes any day of the week!
For sure!
20:18 looks like you loaded a Boulder in the tray 🤣
Hi, Ronny! Why don't you remove one leaf and put on airbags? It will be more versatile.
Always love taking my kids camping. There are things can only be learnt outdoors that cannot be taught in a classroom.
Take/drive the "grid" with you!
Connect4!!!!haven’t seen that in ages
My parents did it to us and I have passed it on to my kids all in WA
What suspension do you use?
Ronny said he doesn't turn on radio in the rig so he can hear any squeaks & rattles. He might reconsider that when with the littlest one in the car lol
Magic cameras, truly amazing camera work, was there a 4th person?
Every and any chance possible!!!!
Yes my Dad took us all the time. I would do it this second with my kids if I had any. Best times of my life with my Dad, my mom and my brothers. Ok sometimes not Mom. She needed a break from 3 boys sometimes. 😅
Of course with my Dad all this back roading involved fishing but I just loved getting out there. I love fishing but that's not always the draw for me. Getting away from the norm and enjoying the outdoors getting the best sleep I've ever had. 😅
The father is the lover of his daughter
Nothing is more fun for the man than hanging out with his Girls
Hey Ronny, great vlog mate. Just wanted to ask if you tow the camper in 5th on the highway or keep it in 4th?? Cheers mate.
In 5th mate. The 70 series gear box can handle it fine
@@Ronny_Dahl thanks mate 👍🏼
Looking forward to taking my kids off grid camping 🏕
Been doing this for 8 years 🤙🏼 and they are 11 now
Yes
Who operated the drone? Cool footage.
