The fact that it had several different types of failures, and only with that ammo screams bad batch to me. I’m no expert, but in my experience, a gun that has a problem is likely to have the same type of failure every time. Bad ammo can throw things into this kind of chaos. But, again, I’m just some guy, and SPN has expended a lot more ammo than I have.
I’ve definitely seen him make videos talking about this. I believe he uses underwood xtreme defender because with such a short barrel, hollow points won’t open correctly. And 380 doesn’t really have an over penetration problem

Always best to spend a bit more get a Glock or S&W better gun, sights holsters and accessories more available and spare parts and magazines, over time better value spending a bit more.
Definitely could be a ammo problem. I’m sure lots of people have something to say about the gun being dirty but personally I want my carry guns to be able to run dirty

You know, I think magtech shipped a batch of shit ammo. I have a ruger lc9s and a czp10c that has been running everything no problem including magtech, but all of a sudden, I've been having issues with those guns running magtech.
I shoot quite a bit of Magtech, and today at the range, I had one that I struck 3 times in 2 different pistols, and it wouldn't fire. It was a Magtech Steel 115.

i was looking for a ccw was planning on getting a glock43x but i bought this stoeger instead. it was 100$ cheaper havent had any issues but ive only gone through 400 rounds sucks the one you got broke hopefully they fix it
Whoa bro slow your roll...clean and lube like your supposed to and Magtech has been having many QC issues for months and it's underpowered by far you said it ran fine w JHPS thats called a clue. UNDERPOWERED magtech likely w OAL variances as well. Clean lube and shoot some quality 124 grain then see. The puddiest 115 w gummed up gun of course is going to slow slide velocity and in a MICRO come on. Was this the magtech steel case? That would be even worse because of different case expansion....u have 3 problems and it's likely not the pistol. Their .32 has been bad, John from ASP in HK Hammer Fired p30 had two primers not go off on camera but he is sponsored by them.
My local go-to gun shop for ammo hasn't even sold Magtech for a long time now..maybe this has something to do with it? Never actually bought it when they had it in stock.
Did you happen to save any of the brass from the malfunctions? It can tell you a few things about what's happening. I'm sure stoeger will stand by their product, but will they give you the real reason it failed. I'm all about companies standing by their product but, you're a tradesman. What's it like to take a craftsman tape measure back 27 times for the lifetime guarantee?
I have a STR-9 full size. it shoots low at even close range... sent it back to them and they sent it back saying it was fine... guess i wont be buying another stoeger. good thing i got this gun as a " throw away" to keep in my car or places i wouldnt want to leave a more expensive firearm. also yeah, what were they thinking putting adj sights on a carry gun, that rear sight looks like its designed to catch clothing on draw.
You’re looking at it all wrong man. What Stoeger is doing is teaching you how to clear all types of malfunctions. I love cheaper, off-brand guns too. Some things I just won’t carry tho.
Unfortunate. Paid $160 for an like new Shield 40 and so far no issue and it has amazing accuracy. Its what i got and dont think I need to change yet. If i could afford it i wish i had an S&W 43c to go with it but those are spendy.
I emailed them and got no response. I called twice and got right through both times. The first time was to have them ship me a flush magazine as mine came with two mags with pinky extenders. They sent me a flush mount. The second time was to tell them the 15 round mags didn't feed in my microcompact. I asked if I could exchange them for the two mags that ship with the gun as the springs in the 15 round mags weren't stiff enough. They agreed, then swapped the two 15 round mags for two other 15 round mags (sigh) that also didn't work.

I understand the frustration, but I'm of the opinion that you should be cleaning those small guns every couple hundred rounds, especially budget guns. Over 500 rounds without cleaning it is borderline neglect, imho. That said, I've known people who have had lots of bad luck with Magtech. Thanks for all the videos though, and I'm still jealous you got to go to UFC 300! Must've been amazing.
It was cleaned every time out. The 550 rounds was in one sitting at the range. My hellcat ran 500 in one video. My p365 ran 500 in one video. After that malfunction it was cleaned every range trip. You guys always freak out and don’t take it for what is actually being said. Just relax
I replaced a Kahr with the STR-9MC. The fact their mag capacity is so low (given they are single stacks) makes Kahrs obsolete. I doubled the mag capacity by going to the STR-9MC while maintaining the same height and adding 1/2 inch length.
I got the A1, rebate took 4.months, it's the biggest piece I own (like SPN I prefer smaller easily concealable 9mm). Was surprised I can actually conceal it with the right clothes and belt, great gun, haven't had enough range time with it yet, soon!

I can imagine the mag compatibility - my IWI Masada Slim takes all the Jericho mags and all the Cz-75 mags, which gives it a wide variety of available options.

Any chance you can compare your S&W Shield in 357 Sig to the Glock 33? I have the Glock 27 in 40 converted to 357 Sig. It’s basically the same size as your Glock 26 and mine has the Pearce +1 pinky extension, so 10+1 capacity. Just wondering if you thought the Shield was worth swapping out and losing capacity?
Multiple failures in a short timeframe followed by normal running with alternative ammo would make me look at the ammo. Did you run this ammo through another firearm ?
I don’t think the mags are interchangeable. I’ve tried running str9 combat mags and it doesn’t sit high enough to chamber next round. Gonna try more tho
my str9 hates a lot of different ammo i tried some pbr bullets and it jammed after every other one tried some blazers and it had maybe 2 jams out of 100 bullets i got some remingtons and they shot perfectly but i got tipped off to try 124 grain and it makes a difference
It's odd that a fixed site is not standard and an adj site an option. It is possible to fix the site issue by replacing the front site with a taller front site. If a taller front site is not available, the back site could be filed down, and the notch deepened until the gun shot to point of aim at a given distance. I'll be interested in how the reliability issue is resolved with Stoeger

Mine shipped with a 10+1 and a 13+1, but the 10+1 had a pinky extender. I called and told them I wanted a flush mounted mag like I was supposed to get and they shipped me an 11+1 flush mount.
I want to say 4 months ago maybe longer. I went looking for my first conceal carry/at home carry around while doing yard work. My two local gun shops say even though they carry’s it they wouldn’t sell it to anyone for more then range use and gave me $50 off a mc9 he had priced at $400 and I walked out the door with it the next day after paper work haven’t had a problem with it (it prettier then a high point but the 2 dudes I trust to sell me ccw said it’s a no no) 😅 edit next time I go I’ll ask them why if your interested and one of them has them at $250 with warning on a sticky note on box lmao

Sounds like an ammo problem, especially if the gold dots ran flawlessly on a mag dump. Sometimes you get a bad batch of ammo.

I would consider FMJ. Consider the cycling of round nose versus hollow point.
You can also find hollows with plastic inserts so they cycle better
Get the LCP Max. Much greater capacity. Better ergonomics, MUCH better trigger, less recoil.

Owned by Beretta but definitely not made by them. These come out of Turkey and to me that’s a red flag.

G26 and G3C appendix cause crimes gonna have either mags on them worst case as much as I like the shield the G3C has more Mag/sight options
I have the G3C and Shield Plus, for me I just shoot the Sheild better so it's my EDC and G3C is relagates as my truck gun...

I will go out on a limb and say you will not get any customer service. Will watch for the outcome

My guess would be either a magazine spring issue, recoil spring issue, or bent mag lips (least likely).

I’ve also had no problems with gold dots. Hornety has feeding issues when hand feeding but shot fine

Mine shipped with a 10+1 and a 13+1, but the 10+1 had a pinky extender. I called and told them I wanted a flush mounted mag like I was supposed to get and they shipped me an 11+1 flush mount.

I want to say 4 months ago maybe longer. I went looking for my first conceal carry/at home carry around while doing yard work. My two local gun shops say even though they carry’s it they wouldn’t sell it to anyone for more then range use and gave me $50 off a mc9 he had priced at $400 and I walked out the door with it the next day after paper work haven’t had a problem with it (it prettier then a high point but the 2 dudes I trust to sell me ccw said it’s a no no) 😅 edit next time I go I’ll ask them why if your interested and one of them has them at $250 with warning on a sticky note on box lmao

In my testing I like the gx4 toro best.
