Lucky to have four of his knives. My first knife was one of his and I was hooked. The pleasure of using a crafted knife never seems to get old. I’m so glad that there are people who dedicate their lives to this and appreciate and respect the tools I own.
He is my favorite carftsmans. I have two knives from him one 220mm nashiji white #2 gyuto and one 246mm honyaki blue #1. Both knives I really love! I really apreciate the thick spine tapering down to a delicate edge and a thin tip. For me his design of knives fits the best!
This is a great video. Very interesting. And I love videos, putting the spotlight on the blacksmith Doing this with the different knife makers really helps to sell the product and fill proud in what you either have or intend to invest in.
Got a 2018 240mm (245 edge length, 55 heel) Gyuto, which of course starts thick out of the handle, but quickly thins and is really thin on the spine throughout the blade, haven't seen any other Mazaki knives posted on the internet being that thin, it's an absolute joy to use and is THE last knife I'll ever part with. Is he manually forgewelding all of his knives? Even the ''basic'' white 2 san mai? Heard he does and doesn't. How about his Hon San Mai? is that the edge steel with a softer piece of steel above it and 2 soft pieces on each side?
@vicreaves3077 I love mine, it's pretty perfect for a smaller gyuto. All these makers will have imperfections from time to time but I prefer a handmade item.

That's awesome, they're incredible knives!

Those are awesome blades, that's why I love them too!
Mazaki is awesome! Glad to have a couple of his knives. Amongst my most used.
That's awesome to hear!
Thank you for sharing so much information about how much care goes into Kiskue’s knives.
I own a nakiri of his, it’s on the thicker side, but genuinely one of my favorite knives. I use it almost everyday.

I bought one of his little petty knives about five years ago. It's such a cool blade.
The nakiri looks dope 😍

Great job - thank you!
Thank you!
Also he switches the profile of his gyutos from time to time!
Super cool! I love to see makers changing it up and refining their craft.
At what point is it better?
Did I see some B-Roll with water dripping on the blade?! I’m in public guys..
Kisuke Manaka is like hold my beer
I’ve got a Manaka with a massive low spot at the heel.

@@dasiegel I love my manaka too!
Point of the video is Mazaki stone flattens his bevels on stones.
The music is too loud and distracting.
Really? I can do this in two hours if I fuck around.
