Awesome footage! We did the one in Myrtle Beach in March. It ended up being 40 degrees with 30mph wind gust despite the fact that the weekend before it was in the 70s!! And unfortunately I didn't realize the monkey bars spun until I was 3/4 the way and i went down lol
Wow the weather at yours sounds insane! It was cold in the morning, about 45 degrees, but no wind and no rain. I think crazy winds like at your would have made it harder. And the monkey bars surprised me too. It wadded something unique to that obstacle, def more challenging than normal.

Thank you for posting this. I had PRK back in January and had signed up for the Terrain race for 5/5 but didn't make it due to the doctor messing up my PRK. It seems to be getting better hopefully it heals by 6/9 for Warrior Dash I've already had to miss 2 races, 8 possibly 9 still on my calendar. I'm living vicariously through your video right now.
Wow, yikes! Sorry to hear about your eyes. Terrain Race is a good time. Hopefully they will have another one near to you soon, maybe later in the year? Warrior Dash is very similar, that is always a fun time too. They also have the best after party (at least over by us). Heal up, feel better, and good luck at your races!!
I am trying for for first time and participating on April 13th 2019. I am fine with running but have not worked on upper body strength much. Also I am short so after seeing your video thinking if some obstacles might be difficult. But let see how it goes. Thanks for sharing. Any tips last minute will help!
Thanks for the video! I’m racing tomorrow and I’m confident except where it comes to the money bars and rig. What happens if you just can’t complete an obstacle?
Thanks for watching! If you can’t complete an obstacle, you have to do 30 burpees as a penalty. No worries, everyone does burpees at some point. Take a second after coming up to the obstacle, catch your breath and then line it up. Try to time it on the monkey bars when no one else is on the bars in your lane. Easier said than done, but not sharing the bars prevents jiggling and bumping into people. With the rig, take a breath before setting out on that thing too. Move swiftly thru it, try not to loiter. Hanging around can burn out your arms. Good luck out there, be safe and have a great race!
LS Disregard the burpees comment, sorry I didn’t realize this was for a Terrain Race. At Terrain Race there are no penalties. You can also try multiple attempts at obstacles if at first you don’t succeed. If not you can just move on. Have a great race!
Sweet! We just did our terrain race on May 19th too in San Jose California. I like how you had your gopro with you. I need to invest in one. I was only able to capture footages in the begining and end. The obstacles we did were the same too.
Excellent! Terrain Race is a good time. I like their obstacles, and glad to hear they were the same. We're looking to branch out and get off the East Coast. Maybe we will have to run Terrain Race out in California next time. Thanks for posting!
I’m doing my first one in April2019... I’m wondering about footwear.... considering I’m just doing the 5km type of deal, do you thing I can use one of my beaten up road running shoes, but also enjoy the terrain race?
Good question! Short answer, probably yes. There is not a lot of slipping and sliding in Terrain Race on obstacles so you should be ok. Just be careful that your comfy shoes don't come off in the mud. You may want to tighten them a bit if you come across any deep mud or water, but other than that, you should be fine. Good luck, be safe, and have a great race! Check back in if you can and let us know how it went.

At a Terrain Race, of 3 or so miles, anyone could probably get through one in an hour and a half. That's at a brisk walking pace of 20 minutes/mile, and slowing down for the obstacles.
