- Hi! It's been a while since I picked up the banjo, so I decided I wanted to record something new with it. I stumbled across this song by accident, and sort of rediscovered it after having not listened to it for some years. I made this simple arrangement for it, and also came up with a little bridge part to stretch the song out a bit, then sat down in my parents' garden to play it. My girlfriend was kind enough to film it, hence the subtle artistic camera shake :)
check out another video: • :(
One of the best things I have heard on a banjo.
Thank you very much that made me really happy to hear 😊😊
😊
Honestly, I wasn't prepared for this to be so good. You brought a lot of freshness to an old song.
Thank you, I really appreciate that!! :)
Right in the feels!!! Well done :) Almost cried
Thank you so much, that makes me very happy!! 😊
Beautiful!!! I’m definitely going to try to learn this arrangement from your video.
Thank you! 😊 go for it, it's pretty simple just the melody notes and a simple drop thumb pattern in between. Do post a video of it when you're done (if you want to), i'd love to see it! Let me know if you have any questions 👍👍
@@tgp4871 This appears to be in Double C tuning, is that correct? I seem to have a lot of favorites in that tuning, so I'm happy to add another one.
@@banjogranny9156 you are correct! Yeah me too, most of everything i play is in double c
fun spin on a classic tune *LIKED* and *SUBSCRIBED*
Man! That was beautiful and inspires me to give it a try!
Im so happy to hear that!! Let me know if you need help :)
This is lovely.
Nice dynamics!
Thank you Tyler!
Awesome! So pure.
Absolutely beautiful! I just subscribed. I hope you got a lot of recognition for this.
Thank you very much, I'm happy you enjoyed it! 😊
Really nice. This is my favorite kind of clawhammer song - melodic and not crazy fast.
Thank you buddy I appreciate it! 🙂
Absolutely amazing!
Really beautiful and precise/clean rendition.
Thank you 😊
This is so great
Beautiful, you hit me in the heart when thinking about my kids. Keep playing, you have a special purpose in life, I envy your talent. Thank you very much!
Thats very, very kind of you, thank you so much! 😊 im happy you liked it, John
High skill level. Class

Really nice dynamics. Superb pickin'
Man the song is so sad when played normal but this😭😭
Its pretty sad for me to listen back to it too tbh!

Beautiful arranged and played ! Chapeau.
Thank you so much :)
You are very talented my good sir, impeccable claw hammer my dude🤙
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it man!!
You have a very nice touch. Beautiful tone, sir.
Thanks a lot buddy, you aswell!! Loving that wl250 😊
@@tgp4871 Thanks man, I appreciate it. WL250 is a great banjo, for sure 🙂
I like your style. Beautifully played. Subtle, with feeling. We sang this song a lot for our daughtter when she was little. And you're bringing a small tear to my eye. I think this is the sweetest version I've ever heard. And the bridge is lovely and fits really well. I'm just taking my first little baby steps on the clawhammer banjo. But when I get better I'll definitely nick this one from you ; ). Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing, you brought a tear to my eye as well 😊 I love this song so much and fully intend to also sing it to my future children. Also thank you for saying the bridge fits well, I was admittedly a bit unsure of that! Have fun on your banjo journey buddy and tell me if you need any help! you have my blessing to nick this arrangement and any other you see on here!! 😉
Haha. Thanks. I subscribed to your channel, ready to be inspired. 👍
holy smokes, publish this. right now. i will buy this, its so good
Thank you very much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! Might get around to that 😊
Woww beautiful arrangement, sincere admiration from France 👏👏
Thank you very much 😊
.....NICE....
Love it! Love the gorgeous background too.
Thank you so much! I love the background as well, its a really pretty garden in the summer :)
@@tgp4871 Oh, I can only imagine! It reminds me of Tennessee...is that where you guys live? I've only been there once, but as a gal who grew up in a more desert/high mountain terrain, I'll never forget that lovely green color. So pretty!
@@witchywoman4139 I'm quite far from Tennessee, I'm in Swedeb actually ;) That high mountain terrain sounds really pretty as well!!
@@tgp4871 Oh wow, that's far indeed! And yes, the Rocky Mountains have a beauty all their own. Nature is exquisite in its diversity, isn't it? Thanks for uploading the gorgeous scenery, and your lovely music!
Wow!🤩
❤🥰
This is the nicest version I’ve heard. Do you have a tablature I can use? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks a lot, glad to hear it! Yeah I should get around to making some, just been lazy and havent found a good software to use but when I do I'll send them to you!
so good
Thank you very much :)
Oh I love this. (And the artistic filming was lovely as well)❤
Thank you very much!! Yeah it adds a lot doesnt it, I'll forward the message to her! 😊
@@tgp4871 yeah, totally-it’s like it echoes the breeze in the garden (which is gorgeous)
That claw is crisp. I would give this a try but I can’t stop bitching my nails. What kind of banjo is it? I love you play it on the dugout
Thank you!! If you really want to bite your nails you can still bite the other nine, just leave one for clawing haha, its a gold tone whyte laydie 250!
👏👏👏👍
Fucking sweet!
Thank you David 😊
This video was randomly put on while I was listening to music on YT. Made for a very relaxing drive haha! Sounds wonderful, what tuning are you playing in?
Hahaha great, thanks a lot man, glad you liked it! Its in gCGCD, so double C tuning 😊
@@tgp4871 Of course! Thanks for the info.
Wonderful arrangement. What finger do you use most often your first or middle. ? So delicate and effective.
Thank you so much!! I only use my index finger for picking 😊
Why do I suddenly have the urge to buy a banjo
Because it's a great idea and you should!
@@tgp4871 well shoot, guess learning to play banjo will be my summer project this year
@@quintafox7582 that sounds fantastic!! Tell me if you need any help :)
Do you have a tab for this please
I've been trying to make sense of how to actually make tabs for a while using software but I've yet to get anywhere with it. I will get back to you if I manage to wrap my head around it!
Men vafan, grabben kan ju spela😍😍
Hihihi tack hihi 😍🤪
Lovely! What is your fifth string tuned to? Just 2 steps up like the rest of the strings?
Thank you! Yes that's correct, I have capo spikes on this banjo so I just use those to match where the capo is!
Ita a pretty tune, nice playing. Have you heared The DeadSouth, playing a version in minor. Thats really something...
Thank you! That sounds cool, I'll have to check it out! With how warm and lovely this song is I have to imagine it kind of changes the mood a bit to put it in minor haha
@@tgp4871 It does a lot, but it’s bloody cool 😎
But you know, everything those dudes play sounds cool 😉
Lovely arrangement! Thanks for sharing. I saw in previous comments and replies that this is double C tuning and it looks like you have your capo at the 4th fret. So all the strings are tuned two steps up then and the 5th string to B? Is that correct? I don't have capo spikes but I can get some and install them. Does this have to be played with a capo spike for the 5th string and at what fret? Thanks!
Thank you! I would say you need capo spikes *if* you want it to sound exactly like this, since tuning the 5th string up to a B is a bit much. I played it with the fifth string under the capo spike on the ninth fret for this, and the regular capo on the 4th, in gCGCD tuning (as in tuned to gCGCD without any capos on). If you don't have that option, I reckon you can tune the 5th string either down to an E or up to a G# to have the third be the drone instead of the fifth. Could sound cool! :)
Thank you for your reply. I played banjo for a bit when I was younger but did not stay with it and that was about 50 years ago. I recently started up again. So I'm extremely rusty and re-learning. Thanks again! @@tgp4871
@@KEMAP75 No problem at all, it's never too late!! I wish you the best of luck, contact me if you think there's anything I can help you with. Rock on :)
Thank you! I appreciate that. If I get stuck I'll reach out again. You're in Sweden correct? My Mom is from Åland although she came to the United States in the early 1950s. Thanks again!@@tgp4871
This is amazing! Can you share the tab for this?
Thank you Alex! :) I'm putting off but I'm going to eventually, I need to buy TablEdit but it's 60 bucks and I'm feeling a bit cheap. I'll tell you when I get the courage to go for it haha
This is really beautiful, do you have a tab for it?
Thank you Tom! I haven't gotten around to it yet but I'll put it in the description when I do 😊
@@tgp4871 Ah I'd love it! It's my mums favourite song and I've just gotten my first Banjo (been a guitar player for 20 years and have always been enamoured with the Banjo) so would love to give it a try!
Can you give us tabs
People seem to want it so I'll try to make them in the near future!
