I was just watching the NYC news about a huge fire caused by an e-bike battery. It seems to happen quite often and more than EV fires. Any info on if this company has had any fires? Is it the battery type or using the wrong charger?

Hey Will! This is a really great question. I’ve only seen a few (2-3) fires of certain models of Super73 (not this one) but Super73 was on top of getting the rider covered and looked into the issue from what I saw on Reddit. Super73 uses the 18650 cells by Lithium Cycle out of California. The fires seem to be a combo of battery type and using the wrong charger/unprotected outlet. It also seems to be the cheaper built batteries/e-bikes catching on fire rather than the more expensive ones. We always remove the battery from the bike and charger when not in use and this is what a lot of manufacturers recommend too! - Tyler

Would rail trails and partially off road trails be problems for the ZX?

Hey Ryan, thanks for your comment! I think for the ZX for rail trails you shouldn't have an issue but partially off-road trails you should be fine on the street tires but you might have better grip with the BDGR tires or the All-Terrains that Super73 sells. I found the Urban tires on this Z-Miami weren't the best for partial off-road trails (especially with a mix of gravel and dirt) but were better on rail trails, or mostly paved trails. But test it out for yourself and see how comfortable you feel on those trails with those tires. Happy Riding! -Tyler

I have this bike,,and I’m disappointed..after 3 years of minimal riding..my battery won’t charge..and since the new nyc laws I can’t buy a cheaper battery replacement as Amazon won’t ship to nyc and a super z battery is like 900 bucks .,so I’m getting a whole new cheaper bike with front /back shocks that this doesn’t have and is faster,,,also I’m 5-9 and it’s too short to actually pedal….id say also the top speed is 26..not 28…and I don’t weigh a lot..163lbs..
