I think you misunderstand Ethiopians. You can't marry a girl by herself. You have to gain respect from her entire family. They have to accept you, because you are going to be part of the family. Religion is not a casual thing in Ethiopia. It's deep. You need to totally identify with her and her religion. That is why they remained Ethiopians. You may have some luck with Eritreans since they have exposure to the west and they lived with the white man, (Italians were in Eritrea) for decades.
