This is why I like Niall better, if it was someone else they would have hit back with a bad argument against free speech. Niall understands that we need argument, it is not comfortable but it’s better than getting on “teams”.

@@jeffreyblack6611 asking who is having their speech resteicted on college campuses in 2024 is one of the most out-of-touch questions I've heard in a while. Both sides of the political aisle have dealt with authoritarians in power at universities attempting to silence them for a long time now.

Conservative students should express their views, resist ideological bias, and defend free speech, Robert George, a professor of jurisprudence at Princeton University, wrote in an op-ed for the New York Times.
He also warned students not to view themselves as victims or build an “identity around grievances” despite the hostility they may face.
Students should resist indoctrination and be wary of lectures or readings that only cover one side of a controversial issue, George stated.
He encouraged students to approach their studies with “intellectual humility,” as “any of us can be wrong, and all of us sometimes are wrong.”
If most people on campus share the same views on topics like marriage, sexuality, or politics, it’s crucial to seek out opposing perspectives, George stated.

I’m an artist with libertarian/ constitutional views, I was suspended from all forms of social media except YT. Because of my gouache painting years ago.
Facebook permanently suspended me for a post of a painting called “ Corporate/Governmental censorship” which showed an artist being held down by 2 officers
I have to try a burner account I guess

It's a tough one. Risk being ostracized, no love from the ladies, bad grades from biased professors? I can see an argument for skating through, then being more vocal later in life when you have a good job or something.

It certainly doesn’t seem like diversity of thought is promoted. If they don’t like your thoughts, they won’t promote them. We have too many feel good phrases that are totally phony.

3:50 getting failed by a teacher in a course you spent thousands of dollars on us also a distinct possibility. Unfortunately every student realizes eventually that professors often grade from a bias.

It has become commonplace that colleges will not abide by Free Speech principles, and must be told to do so by organizations with teeth. Maybe you shouldn't put this burden on endebted students, and colleges should share the burden.
