looks like the new tanah merah mrt viaduct is progressing well. i heard that the current viaduct will be decommissioned and repurposed into a recreational facility alongside the existing changi depot once the new one becomes operational.
Yes, there were news report mentioned that some parts of the current viaduct between Tanah Merah and Simei will be decommissioned and repurposed. There is a possibility that we may even be allowed to walk on the decommissioned viaduct too
@SGYap and @zevstudi0z you are correct but not only that as this Tanah Merah MRT Station also same liked JE Jurong East have the modification project called in short TMMP Which be liked Tanah Merah Modification project. As this back to you all already.
@@SGYap i dont really understand why another platform is needed though, the travel route between tanah merah and changi airport is not very busy, i feel that the frequency now is good enough.
@@zevstudi0zLikely the bigger plan is to extend TEL to the new Changi Airport T5 and the current Changi Airport station. Hence the current Changi Airport station and the future T5 station will likely be linked. When T5 turns operational in the future, traffic will be much more busy.
(8:04) Yep! I think it's due to how concrete ages, as I also think the NSEWL overground viaducts would've been light grey when newly constructed and would've darkened over time.
I stayed at Bedok South near Tanah Merah MRT station. I filmed this conveniently on my way home over a couple of days. I can choose to take the bus or MRT home, both are equally convenient. Hence I have the opportunity to film the viaducts while I am on my way home.
The new one is to repurpose the current platform A as another platform for trains going to the airport, the extended area is the new platform and the new platform A
I went towards Tampines a few days ago and saw the new viaduct at Tanah Merah station.. I was wondering what was the viaduct for and where the track will lead to..
The main reasons for the new viaducts are to connect to the new depot and to increase the capacity at Tanah Merah for connection to Changi Airport and eventually to the new T5 to improve trains frequency
is very interesting whenever there is a new line, the reason given will be reduce waiting time and connecting time, really? why not mention the need to disperse crowd? before covid, once i took the first train from the airport at about 5.30am and all the seats were taken with some standing space, that was even before China was given free visa and i wont be surprised the next visa free country would be India. Together both country represent a third of the world population and just a 0.0000001 % come, i can only say good luck to SG.
Old platforms Platform A to Pasir Ris replace Platform C to Changi Airport Platform C/D replace Platform D/E to Changi airport only Platform B replace Platform F to Tuas Link

@@clydemakesedits The East Coast Integrated Depot will serve 3 MRT lines, EWL, DTL and TEL

Just like the high line in new york? From old viaduct into green walking spaces
sounds exciting
Next time Tanah Merah MRT station will be like Jurong East MRT station with 4 platforms.

The contrasting colours make it easy for us to identify the current viaduct and the newly constructed viaduct
You must have spent quite a fair bit of time and transportation cost just to film this video. 👍💪

the track between Simei and Tanah Merah has become a complex MRT viaduct maze 😂

no way he saw a C651 at 5:05 and 8:05
Yes, I was lucky to spot C651 2 times

Basically another Jurong East MRT
Yes, looks like Tanah Merah MRT going to be another Jurong East MRT
r151 there :)

Platform A to Pasir Ris replace Platform C to Changi Airport
Platform C/D replace Platform D/E to Changi airport only
Platform B replace Platform F to Tuas Link
will it be taken over by TEL in future?
It may be possible TEL extends to T5 and Changi Airport and the stretch between Changi Airport and Tanah Merah be converted to TEL too
Are you a train enthusiast??
I love spotting the R151
@@SGYapim not a r151 fan, really. Their replacing the KHI, SIE and KNS which I hate! But still, nice vis
