favorite gymnast and only Romanian able to dance/express herself. She so didn't deserve being replaced by Amanar: it doesn't matter how the latter would perform, Marinescu was the one who qualified. She also looked genuinely humble and sweet, I really hope she's okay nowadays, she deserves happiness after all she had to go through ❤
What do you expect from Octavian Belu? The guy was a first class jerk, an abuser and control freak who only cared about winning and his chosen favorites- not those he didn’t favor. She was a magnificent gymnast who was treated like cattle fodder.
You do have to remember Amanar scored a 39.387 in All Around optionals. That is a HUGE score. To put it into perspective Podkopayeva won the All Around with a 39.255. Obviously she could not dupicate that same performance in the All Around itself, although she did medal. Marinescu by contrast managed only a 39.800 in Team Optionals, almost a whopping 6 tenths lower. Her beam dismount problem was probably atleast 2 tenths, but even adding that in, which was her only error all night, she would have been miles behind. She qualified due to Amanar's fall on compulsory beam. All Around was optionals only. Any sane coach would have made the same move. I bet the American coach also does for that matter in this case.
The Atlanta crowd was no different than any other huge arena with an Olympic event occurring. They were perfectly allowed to cheer for the hometown athletes- the same as what happened in Sydney, London, Rio, Barcelona, and many others. The athletes- those who want to win- train for lots of noise and are taught to block it out. They train to do their floor routine without necessarily using the music, through muscle memory and memorization. If some didn’t do that it’s on THEM- not the fans. No one gripes when the crowd is really loud at a basketball game, a soccer match (football for the European folk), a track and field meet, etc. there’s no reason to complain about it at a gymnastics competition.
@@unknownuser_99 you say that ONLY because they were Americans, no other reason. If it were anywhere else you wouldn’t be bothered by it. Eye roll city.
@@unknownuser_99 Still not as bad as the Rio crowd though - they literally cheered when other gymnasts made major mistakes because it meant the Brazilian gymnasts were going to medal (check out the audience behaviour during Sam Mikulak's floor EF performance).
One of the greatest gymnastics talents of all time. Something about her style reminds me of ballet dancer Gelsey Kirkland. Sensational!
Superba!❤ Alexandra Marinescu! Felicitări!❤ Super !❤ ......
Frumos !

Lovely floor routine!
It seems like she was kinda not allowed to shine
She was way superior to Amanar and one of the greatest of all time.
no i think amanar was way better you useless lump - keyboard warrior!!!
She was overworked by the Romanians. Bummer. Such talent and they overworked her until she broke.
One of the most elegant Romanian gymnasts ❤. I loved Alexandra's gymnastics!!
I still can’t get over how rude the Atlanta crowds were.

@@saragrant9749 Nah, the Atlanta crowd were way more obnoxious and didn't even clap for some non-Americans.

@@Gazmeizster_Wongatron Yeah, that's true. I remember seeing a 2011 competition where they were cheering when a non-Brazilian fell off the beam.
I loved her and this unique floor routine!❤🎉
잘했는데 점수가 짜다.9.8이상 줘도 될거같은데.
GAWD THIS GIRL WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
