What a nice guy. Well deserved and a great champion.
What a unique guy... I could listen to him talk for hours. Very happy he won.. I was there to witness it myself!.. great job guys. 🏁
The Indy 500 community could not ask for a better champion and representative of the sport. We all knew how great a driver and person Simon is and it was just a matter of waiting for the breaks to fall his way. So happy for him! SIMON SIMON SIMON! You did it bro! Goal accomplished!
Big shot out to John Menard for finally getting to see a 6 cylinder IndyCar with his name on it win the Indy 500...
after all these years great to see john get that Indy 500 win!
I loved when he thanked Alex Rossi by first off calling him a nightmare! Lol. Was just a great speech from a great person and fantastic racer. 💗👏🏆🏁🏁
Wow, what a guy, he just loves the sport and doesn't blow his own trumpet. I'm kinda new to motorsports & Indycar, but I'm a fan of him after this speech.
What a gentleman, what a driver. A great ambassador for the sport, incredibly happy he's won.
Great speach Simon,
You deserve this victory from the first Lap
with your team.
Congratulations !
His father runs a supermarket where my parents go shopping in central France ...he is a nice guy...
Bravo Simon. T'es le meilleur. Continue comme cela. Encore 4 victoires aux 500 et 5 titres de champion et ton déjà glorieux nom sera tout en haut.
Vive le Poitou.
Man, toward the end of that when he was talking about being 7 years old and seeing the 500 on TV, etc. I'll be damned if I didn't start tearing up a bit there......
SIMON je suis heureux pour votre Victoire FELICITACIONS
tonycavez c’est une grande fierté pour nous autres, français, de t’avoir vu triompher dimanche dernier dans cette épreuve mythique.
Such a very humble nice guy!!!
Congrats Simon! Much deserved, fastest all month long. Nice to see the confidence back. I really enjoyed when he drove to the yard of bricks, kind of hope they integrate that in the future.
Glad to see the whole speech. The NBC Gold stream cut out when Roger Penske was speaking and didn’t come back on until after Simon talked about Will Power.
Bravo Simon, Super Mec, Super Pilote. La France peut être fière d'avoir un tel représentant 👏💪🏁🥇🍾
What a totally awesome speech by a totally amazing champion. =)
Victory Celebration broadcast long overdue...adds so much value to the race and the men behind the wheel. Happy for Simon, he's just getting warmed up.
Great speech,
Glad to know that even the Indy 500 winner has to deal with a long face when he gets home!
Yeah, she didn't look happy
I wondered that too... she didn't seem excited at all 🤷♀️
Fish Lion!! Oh my gosh. I love Simon. So happy for him. Team Penske rules all of motor sports. And has the funnest and funniest drivers. Congrats to a great job!!!
He's a very jovial person with a great sense of humour
Way to go Simon!!
He just said that his dream is not to be champion again but win the INDY 500
Team Penske baby, best in IndyCar. Second year in a row 18th overall with their car on stage celebrating victory. Josef's time is next season, he sweeps you read it here first.
Congrats Simon. It was a great race.
a true gentleman
Congrats to Simon. Great duel which looked to be very clean racing. I think the guy in the light blue shirt will be reminded to tighten the tie if he is going to wear one and bring a jacket (all the rest of the guys seem to at least have a jacket). To me, he is dressed a little to casually. Roger Penske is dressed to the default standard (tie and jacket), the team should be following that standard. I'm kind of surprised some PR person is not in charge of those details.
Thank's Indy500 and congrats to all the competitors for this great race and show!
I hope in Alonso's speech for the next year!
Go FerNando!!!👑👑👑
If he's with a better team
LOL
McLaren = Alonso's "Nemesi" 😢😢
D'accord
10:15 John Menard
In all it was a good race fans , admit it.
it was awesome
It was the best 500 I've seen in years 💪😄🏎💨🏁🏁💕
No one thanks Ilmor Engineering - the designers and manufacturers of the engine which Chevrolet badges.
If you can't build em', buy em' from someone who can. What else would you expect from Government Motors?
Chevrolet bankrolls the development
@@pavanatanaya They write a check. The design and manufacture is by Ilmor. I'm sure the Chevy "engineers" stand around the races and look important...
Electone_Guy Chevrolet manufactures, markets and supports an enormous operation that generates revenue. The very same revenue that funds the development of these sparkle pony projects.
You may have noticed that the pace car is a Corvette. That's right. Chevrolet leads out this event.
If the Chevy engineers stand around feeling important, it is because they are part of the team that allows for these showcases. Chevrolet deserves to place their badge on these engines. They paid for that right.
@@ElectoneGuy You do know that in Indycar, with leased engines, the engineer whose laptop is plugged into the car whenever the engine is started back in the garage, who inputs all the changes to the maps and anything else in the ECU and generally ensures the health of that engine is a Chevy or Honda employee, and that the team's own engineers can't touch any of that, right? I'm curious as to why you put "engineers" in quotes.
Hummm 🤔 even the main sponsor of this team sounds like a French name : "Menards". 😁 ^^
it's a French name , Menard
Now call Ricky Bobby and tell him to race at the Indy 500, now that Jean Girard has won it.
This is the most underrated comment on all of UA-cam.
some years Honda has more power, some years Chevy does, but Honda always has better fuel economy. This year it didn't matter.
4:23 That is not Ben!
Un siècle qu'on attends. Too bad he looks and sounds like an american xD Bravo Pagenaud, le graal enfin.
He get's a salary and the team gets most of the prize $. He probably gets somewhere between 10 and 20% of it.
My understanding was that the team earned approx. $13million, $2.7mil being Simon's cut. But I could be wrong.
@@cartfan26 No the whole 1st place prize is the 2,669,000 the total paid to all finishers could be $13,000,000. The teams get at least 90% or all of the prize $ , depending on the contract. A top team probably keeps 90%. Smaller teams probably pay a straight fee or salary and keep all prize $.
@@PeterKKraus that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying. 😊
@@PeterKKraus Drivers takes a major part and gets money from the team (his mounthly salary) and money from his major sponsor. Or i think he keeps the 2.6 million and the money from mmenards go to penske id remember
ここ数年低迷してたから2連勝して良かったよ。
I would drive like that and even worse to block Rossi for 2.66 Million
Even worse? That was absolutely AWESOME driving. While Rossi whined about "obvious blocking", it was not reactive at all. He was simply moving about to keep Rossi out of his slipstream AND to avoid the need to make a reactive move. Great stuff.
Rossi dressed like he was going to win it.
Sacha Baron Cohen won the 500?
he only won because Indycar extended the last caution flag so he would have enough fuel.
He had already made up what he needed when he was behind Josef BEFORE the red flag. If you were paying attention, you'd know that.
For next year Alonso hold the victory speech.
Alonso had better drive for somebody other than McLaren.
LOL
