Honestly, one of the very best reviews I’ve seen of this bike. I brought my Vulcan S home yesterday. Brand new 2020. After a 15 year break I’m riding again and I appreciate the gentlemanly feel this has and totally understand and respect there is a beast inside as well. I love it and I’m practicing and taking MC Safety course, etc. I think you nailed it. Good pace and well spoken. Thanks so much!
Thanks Mitch for the feedback and love, congratulations on your new bike, I believe I have seen the photo on FB group you posted? I am sure you are loving the new ride, let me know how you are liking it
Hi, I've been enjoying your videos! They have helped me greatly. I sold my previous bike (a 2010 Yamaha V Star 1000 classic) in 2013 when I moved from NJ to NC. I got the bug to ride again and I wanted something lighter and more agile. After reviewing helpful videos like yours I decided to pull the trigger on the 2020 Vulcan S ABS in mysterious gray. Amazing bike, you're 100% right about how it just becomes an extension of your body when you ride it. Stay safe and ride on!
Great Video! I’m two weeks away from taking my BRC class. I am SOLD on the Vulcan S! Thank You for confirming that you don’t need to buy a Honda Rebel 250 first and then buy a Vulcan later! I’m glad to hear you the bike can grow with you riding abilities. I’m looking forward to watching your modification videos! Thanks again for taking the time to make this video!
Awesome! You will find Vulcan S very easy to ride and learn and more importantly "not intimidating" at all . Install videos coming soon for the next couple of weeks
Great video! I'm a new rider, right now with a 125cc (Zontes G1). I'm loving the Vulcan S, I'm looking forward to getting one, and keeping it for the rest of my life.
My wife is 5'2" tall. She bought a 2015 Vulcan S last spring and she absolutely loves it. I'm 6'4" and I like it also. It's a little small for me w/ the extended reach handlebars and foot pegs, but I love the power and handling.
As someone who recently purchased the vulcan 650s, i gained confidence as well as the best reviews in your video. And i am so happy to be a vulcan owner who has only been for about 30 here in south korea. And my first bike is supercurve made by honda..so i was afraid of vulcan that is much bigger than supercurve before watching this video. Now i am full of convidence due to your video..Thank you^^
Just subscribed. Great video. I'm looking to get back into riding after a 15 year break from 2 wheels . I think the Vulcan 650 will be my re-entry bike
Road sport bikes for years my last bike was a 2010 ZX10R 1000cc took some time off the saddle went into the store to buy a new bike was looking at the Z900 ABS then seen the black and gold Vulcan 650S and decided to buy it love it so far I don't care much any more as I get older for the brutal power of the sport bikes.
Last week I bought a 21 Vulcan S and your channel was a big reason why. I’m a beginner and so far in the 10 miles (I know it’s nothing) I put on it I feel like it’s ideal. Room to grow into it. Thanks and great videos. Also, how do you like those mirrors? Right now I have bar end mirrors but they’re loose and shake.
Great review sir! A lightweight bike is good. No one needs an 800 lb bike to have fun. And if u like fun then, this bike will serve not only beginners, but experienced riders as well. Keep up the great work and ride safe!
I'm a new rider and I started on the Vulcan S. I have progressed quickly and I am vebturing further and further away from home. I've also done some in town riding. The Vulcan S has been easy to handle. My shifts are usually butter smooth, but sometimes I jerk the bike a bit. I couldn't be happier with choosing the Vulcan S. My only complaint is now I am focusing on modifications and personalization. I have a delkovic exhaust on order, smart turn/brake combo on order, and hepco and Becker sissy bar with rack on order. I'm currently looking for bags for when I start to commute. Hepco and Becker are topping my list for bags. I have to save up for that purchase.
I sat on one of these the other day. I was completely floored by how light it is. I ride a 2009 naked 650 and it feels like a tank compared to this bike. I am going to sell my naked for this. It felt so right just sitting on it.
This bike is amazing. It is nimble, very manouverable and flexible. It actually wasn't really meant to be a fast bike, however it accelerates in just 4 freakin seconds up to 100kmh. So it is a sleeper if you like it this way. The engine break is just massive also. All in one - yes, this bike is great for beginners. But it is also fits an expirienced rider, because this is kind of a bike you don't really need to upgrade to something bigger.
like the Indian scout, this bike love 10W60 engine lubricant. never pour 10W40 in, it is going to wear out you engine eventually the engine breaks up. High rev engine with liquid cooling system need high viscosity lub to withstand high rev and high temperature.
This is my first motorcycle. I put the first 20 miles on it in a parking lot right by the dealer. It is a little intimidating after only riding a dirt bike for a couple hours previously. Definitely not going on the road for a few weeks
It is worth mentioning that Vulcan S has a parallel-twin engine instead of a V-twin design, and therefore, it has very different control riding characteristics. When I go to very light throttle, it gets a slight vibration/shudder. Not really lugging motor and it will accelerate fine. The Vulcan S simply doesn’t like “light throttle “. It likes to be wound out and shifted around 5000 rpm. I wanted to shift at 2000 rpm and ride at 2500 to 3000 rpm and Vulcan S engine doesn’t like that (shudder and vibrate). I now shift at 4500 to 5000 rpm and cruise around 5000 rpm. It just takes some getting used to (for those who used to ride a V-twin bike).
@@dorissosa65 you should try using platform boots, not too big of a platform but some can give you a 1-2 inch raise that could help flat foot or at least be closer to the floor. I’m 5’3 and highly recommend getting Doc martens with a slight platform they’re cute too and come in many colors. They aren’t “biker boots” they are regular stylish boots but are heavy duty and great.
Hmm. I agree with most except for the weight. 500 lbs is not light for a beginner bike. If you do a lot of highway riding, the weight is probably a good thing. For city riding, I prefer the Honda rebel 500 for a cruiser.
good point. I was thinking from a beginner bike in the cruiser range that can be kept long after the learning period. Yes the 250 cc cruisers are lighter than these but a beginner will get bored out of it sooner
I heard great things about Vulcan S's maneuverability so I wanted to get one to check out and oh boy it definitely is a unique bike, the best bike to be able to control hands down
I never tried lane splitting as in NJ we are not allowed to lane split. But from a slow speed and control prespective this would be ideal for handling such situations
Relatively light compared to medium sized other cruisers available such as the Honda Shadow 750, Yamaha Bolt etc. Also it feels much lighter than that 498lb on paper
@@deian85 I am not sure how to accurately answer it. When I sit on it and move around you don’t feel the weight at all, when moving around it in the garage I feel the weight is in the center. Sorry if I didn’t clarify your question.
500lbs is a little on the heavy side for a first bike. Those 800+lb cruisers aren't a great baseline because they start having more in common with a car than a motorcycle imo. My biggest complaint is like the ninja 650, the throttle is too twitchy at low speeds with the vulcan. Idk if it's fuel mapping or what, because it feels like a fleet car with a drive by wire throttle body.
Obviously "the look" is NOT a criteria for a beginner bike... 1 - High of seat to handle the balance better 2 - weight of the bike to forgive misuse of your technic 3 - power of the engine to don't go too fast too quick 4 - sensitivity of the throttle and the brakes even with ABS to give you more control 5 - rider position to help you to focus without body fatigue
I think that 250cc is the best option for begginers. If you like it you can move up and get something bigger, otherwise just sell the 250cc. That being said, I love the Vulcan S.
Kelley Manning my fiancée has this as her first. I agree a 250 may be a good idea, but this one is not bad as a first bike either. It’s calm enough to learn on, and can grow with it.
