When you had the machete in the sheath on your belt and you mentioned drawing it out, I flashed back to "Blazing Saddles" when Sheriff Bart said "Pardon me while I whip this out" in a simila motion and all the people recoiled in horror...LOL.
"Fine whittling" with a foot and a half machete. Good video though. I haven't had a chance to use mine so this definitely gives me an idea of what to expect.
Good review as always Fred. You are a brave man swinging a machete in sock feet. It's a decent WTSHTF machete for the price. As always though I just can't get my head around those nylon sheaths. A Kydex would be the real answer ,but for what you paid I doubt they could make one for less than the entire knife. You would most likely have to spend over a hundred bucks to a Kydex sheath. You mentioned Viskars. I have a pair of Viskar scissors and they are now in my tool box. Excellent quality tool.
thing on the soft high carbon blades its softer made thay way so the knives cold be stamped out easier and so its easier to fix nicks and stuff from chopping, if you want it harder just take the grip off and make your own you can probly heat treat it yourseld and made it quit a bit harder
Did you just stick that machete in your precious workbench surface? ;-) Great review out in the open, it's a nice change from the man cave setting. LOL
Thank you so much for your review on this product it was so helpful. People need to see more full reviews on gear that they buy, love what did to on the different items that you cut thank you so much
Good info on how to properly use the lanyard to have a safe grip on the lanyard. also, what you said about the factory edge not being so sharp may be more relevant to a true convex edge, but i think this has a hollow grind, no?
Gerber was original made in Portland Oregon 200 miles from me. They headquarters are there still. Some of there upper end knives are still made in the states, I'm sure if it's actually in Portland, but I have been to there headquarters and seen some pretty cool stuff!
Just saying, machete blades are meant to bend a little like that, because if the blade was not able to bend it would snap pretty easily with it being long.
i got the same one had to sharpen mine up but even out of the box its not to bad.being made in china is not a bad thing they can make some really nice stuff and yes they make some not so good stuff but thats the guy that orders stuff from the factory that he wants made for resale that causes that to happen..
Mine came as dull as obama's last speech and it refused to take an edge which seemed as strange as his Benghazi answers. I think I got a lemon. Better clean up that mess before the boss gets home! Nice job Fred!
@fredhart I Almost Bought That Today at Walmart, The Wal-Mart By My House Just Started Carrying Them unless There New? But I Couldn't Buy ammo and That, it was 17 Bucks Though Good Review it Looks Like it Works
dude, don't be lazy. I had a huge bent tip and all I did was take some pliers and wedged it between the teeth, and it easily was brought back to good condition. rust? baking soda and a little water mixed together will remove surface rust with scrubbing. ive had mine for 3 years and I never let me down.
Great video :) However I do want to ask if you could make a video about throwing It looks like something I would throw :D Tho I do have a box full of broken bladed things do to throwing..... Anyways making a video of you throwing it would be great and make me super happy :D

Great review Fred! You are the new American Ninja! Pumpkins beware!
I have one of these and I like how it is more compact than a regular machete but still has some heft

I wish they would have made this type of saw on the back of the SOG jungle primitive instead of the piece of crap that is on it
Great video :)
However I do want to ask if you could make a video about throwing It looks like something I would throw :D

thecranberry89 Gerber only produces a small percentage of their products there, most are from China to lower production costs.
