The Fatima Center’s mission is to ensure that the entire Message of Fatima is widely known, accurately understood, and properly acted upon so that Our Lady’s purpose in coming to Fatima - the salvation of souls and the prevention of catastrophic chastisements - may be realized.
The Fatima Center has been faithful to this mission since its founding in 1978 by Fr. Nicholas Gruner († 2015).
The Message of Fatima is the ONLY solution to the grave crises facing the Church and the world today.

All Catholics should know that the body is a Temple of The Holy Spirit and this in itself should be enough to understand what we should do regarding our own body and those of others , it's so simple and yet we humans will always look for loopholes and exceptions to what we know , deep down is right.

St Augustine's treatises on Marriage and Virginity were the standard for Catholic teaching prior to TOB, echoed by Aquinas and the pre-VII catechisms. He approaches it from the perspective that all our actions, especially reproduction, were tainted by the fall. He makes the most sense to me 1,600 years later, but is mocked by the TOB crowd.

Father, I would like to ask about the Divine Mercy.

    • @TheFatimaCenter
      @TheFatimaCenter  2 роки тому +9

Thank you for your question which we will submit for response in our Ask Father video series. In the meantime we note that in spite of the fact that the Divine Mercy devotion is highly endorsed by present-day Church authorities, and is even fairly popular among traditional Catholics, nevertheless it is also true that these supposed revelations and the associated devotions are held in suspicion by many trustworthy Catholic sources (we would say, with good reason). In fact, in 1959, the Divine Mercy devotion was condemned by the Holy Office. (See volume 51, page 271 of the Acta Apostolicae Sedis in which the distribution of this image and the spreading of the writings of Sr. Faustina were forbidden. www.vatican.va/archive/aas/documents/AAS-51-1959-ocr.pdf)
What could be wrong or dangerous about such a devotion? Msgr. Patrick Perez writes at length about this topic. (www.traditioninaction.org/HotTopics/f072_DivMercy.htm) We would stress these things:
First, regarding the image: It is very instructive to consider the original image painted under Sr. Faustina’s direction (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Divina_Misericordia_(Eugeniusz_Kazimirowski,_1934).jpg), in which we see that none of Our Lord’s wounds are visible. His side and feet are strangely covered, and even His hands (which are exposed) appear without wounds! We recall from the lives of the saints that it was precisely this aspect of a diabolic manifestation (in which the devil attempted to delude St. Martin of Tours by appearing as if he were Our Lord, but without the wounds of the crucifixion) by which the saint recognized the devil’s ploy.
Second, regarding the red and white rays of light (which everyone agrees must represent the Blood and water which flowed from Our Lord's side when His Sacred Heart was pierced) -- we must ask, why mere rays of light rather than the depiction of actual blood and water? In the pivotal apparition of our time, of unquestionable authenticity, in Tuy, Spain, in 1929, when Our Lady of Fatima made Her formal request for the Consecration of Russia - very near to the time of these supposed apparitions to Sr. Faustina - there was a vivid demonstration of Our Lord’s Precious Blood (dripping from His face and from the wound in His side, running over the Host and into the Chalice) and the water representing the Graces and Mercy which Our Lord merited for us by His Passion, flowing over the altar in crystal letters. We have here in the Divine Mercy image another inexplicable retreat from a clear manifestation of Our Lord’s glorious Passion and Death, by which the devil’s power over mankind was shattered.
It is also very remarkable that these rays have no visible source. Why are they not depicted as coming from His Heart? From the time of the 17th Century when Our Lord revealed His Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary, Our Lord's expressed will has been more and more explicit about the reparation and devotion that He seeks toward both His Own Sacred Heart and Our Lady's Immaculate Heart. His express desire is that the explicit images of these Hearts be displayed and honored in public places and in private homes. And He has said that this trajectory established by the arduous and lengthy work of the apostles of His Sacred Heart is to continue through the long-awaited time of Our Lady's Triumph when His Church places the devotion to the Immaculate Heart alongside the devotion to His Sacred Heart (see Sr. Lucy's May 18, 1936 letter to her confessor, cited in The Whole Truth about Fatima, vol. II, p. 631). It is really amazing that a 20th-century apparition would reverse this course and leave His Heart covered, especially when that Heart's image is naturally called for as the source of those bizarre rays.
Finally, regarding the prayers of the devotion: While the invocations may be unobjectionable in themselves, we fear that they have been catastrophic in the omission which they have occasioned. That is, there can be no doubt that for many people, the Mercy Devotion has, practically speaking, served to eviscerate the practice of the Marian devotions that Heaven has so urgently recommended for our preservation. For some people, no doubt, the Mercy Devotion has been adopted in addition to the Rosary, but for a great many it has replaced the recitation of the Rosary.
What a shame that people have often gone so far as to pick up their Rosary beads (which Padre Pio referred to as our best weapon against the errors and dangers of our time), only to be diverted from using it in the way that Heaven intends and so richly rewards. And this at a time when everything -- the preservation of our lives and the salvation of many souls, likely including our own -- depends on our application to the devotions requested by Our Lady of Fatima. As Sister Lucy told Father Fuentes, “The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary, to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families, of the families of the world, or of the religious communities, or even of the life of peoples and nations, that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary. With the Holy Rosary we will save ourselves, we will sanctify ourselves, we will console Our Lord and obtain the salvation of many souls."
Given, then, that the Divine Mercy apparitions and devotions are at best a distraction from the crucial Fatima revelation and devotions, and that they may well be of demonic origin, we suggest that you have nothing to do with them. God bless you.

I’ve seen a few of these videos shooting down TOB now, and it is very clear to me in all cases that those who are shooting it down have not studied it AT ALL. If they were to pull out some specific aspects and refuted them, then I might put some weight to these objections…but it clear to me they see “body” and get scared.

Never have I ever respected life, marriage and sexuality than I did prior to learning about this beautiful teaching. If we stop at “mutual good of the spouses” without defining what that mutual good is and then just leaving it up to us married folk to figure it out, then I would agree with you. In defense of Theology of the Body, if what you’re saying is that this is considered modernist because it lists the ends of marriage without ranking them, then the Roman Catechism and the Catechism of Pius X are also modernist, because they also do not rank them. In fact, these “trad” works list the mutual good of the spouses before procreation because they made no attempt to rank them. This does not mean that it isn’t Catholic teaching that procreation is number 1, because it is, and I think even St. John Paul the Great believed that. It simply means that some works like those trad catechisms, and Theology of the Body find it sufficient to list them without ranking them for the sake of brevity, since you can find the more specific teaching in the encyclicals that address the issue directly. Careful Fr. I’m afraid your argument jumps the gun, and proves too much. God bless you!

Fr theology of the body is extremely useful, I think theology of the body is what the world needs along with trad masses. It’s better than purity culture which I believe you are trying to push in saying that sex is bad bad bad all the time. Purity culture is dangerous, also the modern culture is dangerous, however theology of the body teaches catholics to see the body as gift to see sexual intercourse as a gift commited in marriage for the creation and unity of husband and wife for the increase of love and for the glory of Gods church by bringing in more souls to his heavenly kingdom, now NFP yes is debatable, it can be used only if the woman is at risk of illnesses or for good holy legitimate reasons it can’t be thrown about like, it must be valid concern, like can’t be ohh well just use NFP to use each others body etc, instead it must be rooted in the possibility of yes if god wills to create a life here so be it.

I'm not sure I understand. You are to believe in sanctity of your body and virginity not so much because of how/what you felt about it, but because its right, its holy, we are to deny ourselves. While there are things to appreciate about the TOB approach, it seems like people are basically like "I don't like how the church is teaching this. Tell me in a different way that makes me feel nice" when plenty of what it says was sort of like "duh" if you had the intellectual curiosity about the church.

@@carlosesturain3831 well my opinion on theology of the body it gave me a greter understanding of God and his creation, a greater love for his commandments, a greater understanding of the gospel, and the scriptures, actually I don’t really care if you believe it or not, rad trads think everything is bad that’s new ohh divine mercy be ware, or luminous mysteries of the rosary, or Tob. It’s as if they are so narrow minded living in the Stone Age. TOB reveals why errors such as homosexuality, contraception are evil, so I don’t see it as worshipping my body or etc, I see it as respecting what God has made Good, I have a responsibility to protect marriage and the unborn as it reveals the nature of God which is creation, he creates it’s not black and white rules like rads see, it gives you the reason for the rules, and develops a greater love for the sacraments, in fact TOB has led me to a greater love of the Eucharist a greater love of receiving him worthily, so importance of Confession pre communion, and also importance of receiving the body of Christ on the tongue. The devil destroys humanity because he couldn’t fathom that God the father was a humble being, even tho he had so much power, he couldn’t fathom how God wanted to become fully human and God that God would become low, Abortion is wrong because in every person, the image of the father is their, that’s why the devil wants abortion, similar to gay unions it’s the inversion of What God has made, God has made marriage as a way in which we are unified with him, like holy orders Etc, it’s about developing a relationship with him believing the Gospel.
