Thank you bro, I am picking mines up tomorrow finally after waiting 10 days and this is something I needed to learn been a new user to guns, great detail video👍
Good video, thank you! Nice and quick. One suggestion, you might want to go slower and show every step for reassembly. Newer Shooters might struggle with the reassembly process.
I just received my M&P Shield Plus; first pistol (only other hand gun was a revolver). The process was awkward but watching the video helped. I had to stop and rewind multiple times but I know it will get easier the more I use it.
I told him the same thing w the Remington 870 shotgun cleaning. I'm glad he does it blindfolded when he has nothing else to do, but leaves the newbies hanging. Slow down and do a 6 to 7 minute video, it's still twice as short as most of them. 🤩
Use tungsten disulfide (Ws2)! Dry powder, slipperiest thing on the planet, sheds carbon, bonds to metal by rubbing it on, doesn't attract dirt, doesn't come off, withstands 100,000 lbs. of force, eliminates wear. I run my guns dry with NO problems or signs of wear. Better than oil (oil attracts dirt) but if you are worried of what I say, Ws2 also blends well with oil and can be used together. I've been using it in my car's engine oil for 12 years and the engine is like brand new (no wear!!). Nasa uses Tungsten disulfide (Ws2) on the Mars rover. Great for guns!
Hey brother, we appreciate the video on the s&w shield! Quick question, in the reassembly position of the video you used a small tool to reposition the ejection lever. On my other guns this is accomplished by reinserting the magazine. Is this practice safe with the shield?
You explained the sear deactivation lever for the first part but then put it back up without saying anything. I find that inattention to detail annoying tbh. Idk what the hell the thing is even for and I’m trying to figure it out.
So do you really need to pull that sear deactivation lever down manually or is it okay to pull the trigger to do that? I pull the trigger and I've seen many others pull the trigger. That does work, but I'm wondering if there's some sort of issue with it. I do this in both my 9 and 45 shield guns. I know you mentioned keeping the magazine in a separate area, but I like to check the function of those as well and do some light cleaning if needed while I'm cleaning my gun. The other purpose it serves is it will push that sear deactivation lever back up when you insert the magazine to do the trigger tests as well. I know there's a thousand different ways to demonstrate cleaning your guns, but I wanted to see if there was something I was doing that may damage my gun.
Thanks for this video! Rookie here 😁 suggestion for trigger reset at the end... so if it doesn’t properly reset what’s the issue? Mine did not, now idk how to properly reset it 🤣🤦🏻♀️
On reassembly- at 3:04 you start to close the slide, but then the vid is edited showing you did not close it, you went back to that yellow sear thing you lifted to start, returning it to a position out of the way, the next shot is the slide magically closed. Any way you can clean up that part of the video and show us exactly the steps (starting at 3:00) to closing the slide? Thanks in advance.
2:43 I'm new to this and have a different semi-auto pistol. But am sure all the cleaning basics are the same. At this point are you just wiping down the exterior of the slide? And leaving alone all that you sprayed into the action and interior of the slide? This Hoppe's Black system looks good if it really is that simple.
QUESTION- on reassembly do you have to reset the deactivation lever back to the up position or something? At 3:07 it looked like you did reset it but there was no audio while doing it. Thanks.
There’s another way to do it. I never touch the deactivation lever. Lock the slide back and flip the takedown lever down. Release the slide, safety off, and point the EMPTY firearm in a safe direction and pull the trigger. The slide will release and pull right off the front.
Ok I went thru the steps to clean the barrel the spring and slide I then re assembled the gun and turned the take-down lever 90 deg I then racked the slide back to do the function test I pulled the trigger and nothing happened ... no click no sound no nothing. I repeated this three or four times and again pulled the trigger and nothing. I'm not liking this one bit. Any advice?
@@Hoppesguncare Thanks but I figured it out. After going thru all the steps again I realized my issue had to do with the little yellow tab, I simply pushed it with my screw driver down to the flush position, then racked the pistol one more time and pulled the trigger, and click, BAMB! That was it.
Thank You for the info. I followed you all the way, but when I fired tested it , the trigger didn't go off after I pulled back the slide. I tried it aa few time with no trigger sound when I pulled the trigger. But it I insert a empty mag, and do the same process, I here the trigger sound me doing it just as you did. Is this an issue with my gun?
My reloading room is next to my workshop, both downstairs from the house and odors rise thus eliminating Hoppes #9 from my arsenal of cleaners. I never heard of Hoppes #9 Black, does it have the same strong odor as the original Hoppes #9?
I pull the trigger in the 9 and 45 and I just asked them the question if they thought it would somehow damage the gun. I can't imagine in what way it would, but I'm not a gunsmith either. It's a PITA to pull the lever down and push back up sometimes even with a pick tool. Much easier to pull the trigger.
Way, way, WAY too much grease! And spraying down the slide isn’t necessary. Wet a rag or patch and wipe down the slide, and always keep the slide pointed muzzle down so no cleaner gets in the firing pin hole. This video sucked. Seems like they want you to over use their product so you have to buy more. I’ve been using regular Hoppes #9 for decades and don’t need any “high performance” variants.
This is more of an advertisement for Hoppes and less of a cleaning tutorial, I never put and lubricant in the barrel, only on metal parts that contact each other.
I appreciate the video but it was way too fast. Also your hand blocked how to take down to take down love her so I was not able to complete the mission because your hand was in the way and I couldn’t see how to bring that take down that are down. So I guess my gun will just now be dirty. Maybe next time take a little more time and effort and make sure the cameras can see everything you’re doing. Thanks Also you didn’t really show us what parts exactly we needed to clean inside the gun what about the outside of the gun, etc. Just kind of sloppy.
Simple and clear, no nonsense, special thumbs up.
It says in the manual that replacing the empty magazine into the pistol returns the sear deactivation lever to normal operation mode.
This. Yes sir!
The manual doesn’t say to use so much grease tho, only one drop of lube per each of 5 lube points. I don’t know if I would use so much lube
Thank you bro, I am picking mines up tomorrow finally after waiting 10 days and this is something I needed to learn been a new user to guns, great detail video👍
California? Lol I'm getting one too
Straight to the point! I absolutely love it!
Good video, thank you! Nice and quick.

Agreeee. I had to replay a million times hahah I’m a rookie 😆😆😆

You can always try slowing down the video where you want to see if that helps ;).

Man you are great!! I’m new to owning the M&p and I love it. This will help me take care of this great firearm. Thank you!
Good lord, not sure half a tube of “high performance” grease is enough! Guess all their other stuff is low performance by default.

Mars rover is a figment of our imagination. All spaces agencies work together to deceive us.
Thank you so much for this video...

Two years late, but yes.
You could go over some of the reassembly problems and how to correct them . I had trouble getting the slide back on.
Thanks this is the best one
Thank you for this video it was so easy and I can understand everything you said.
You explained the sear deactivation lever for the first part but then put it back up without saying anything. I find that inattention to detail annoying tbh. Idk what the hell the thing is even for and I’m trying to figure it out.
Great videos! Do you have a video on how to clean a Taurus G3? Tried looking, but didn’t see any on your page. Thanks

The S&W M&P Shield manual recommends to put down the sear deactivation lever manually! p. 28 Figures 32&33
Very useful information. Thank You.
Great Video !!
so helpful, thank you!
Great good at explaining the process, it made it way easier to understand the way you made this video 😊👍🏽 thank you
On my Sheild, you have to pull the trigger after you pull up the yellow wire or the slider will disengage.
You guys at Hoppes have great products! Keep up the good work
Thanks for the kind words!
Good video. Thanks. Can you do one of a sig P365?
Awesome video! Thank you sir!
Thanks for the overview
Thank you for your tutorial sir, I learned some valuable information.

i just got an EDC 9mm shield, how often should i clean it, i only shoot like 50 rds a session. shot it twice so far, so hundred rounds so far
Just got the new M&P 2.0 and other videos show pulling the trigger to release the slide instead of the sear switch. Is one way better than the other?
two things:
1. I want a Hoppe's clock for my gun cleaning area
2, Ditch the music, unnecessary and distracting
thanks
Great video

Hi there, we would recommend checking with your firearm manufacturer. Thanks

Yep... not a needed step for field steip... I just did it. Lock the slide, move release, pull trigger and off she comes
Any Kel-Tec Sub 2K vids planned?

Hey Able, we would recommend reaching out to the firearm manufacture for questions on the firearm. Thanks

Nice demo. Not too long.
I just purchased a Tavor TS12 how do you clean this baby? and thanks for the M & P shield "how to clean"
Problem with grease it can cause malfunctions at cold temperatures, why I don't use it where I live.
Hey i'm a new gun owner and it get's stuck does that mean I need to clean it? Does hot heat have something to do with it?
Do you use the lubricating clothes on the inside or just the outside of the gun?
How can I get one of those Hoppe's clocks, it would be pretty cool addition to the gun shack?
Hey Guy, unfortunately we don't have them available for sale at this time. Thanks
What are those Mag Carriers on the outside of the safe to your right?
when you learn it's pronounced "hop-EE's"
O.O
after cleaning and oiling the Shield, do you need to let it dry off awhile before shooting it?
nope

Insert an empty mag. I did the same thing for like 20 minutes wondering what i did wrong lol

Strong odor? Hoppes #9 is the best smelling gun cleaner ever made.
@@br54991000 ^guy probably already lost 90% of his braincells from smelling those chemicals over the years
I’ve shot my guns once and then went to clean it and my slide won’t come off. Any suggestions??
Love all
🤔 I have a shield and have never needed to depress a sear to get the slide off.
I was thinking the same thing.
You can either pull the trigger or pull that lever down. The manual says to pull the lever down
I pull the trigger in the 9 and 45 and I just asked them the question if they thought it would somehow damage the gun. I can't imagine in what way it would, but I'm not a gunsmith either. Paul Hood you don’t have to push it back up magazine insertion does that

Is not reset?
AWESOMEEEEE video bro thank u 🙏🏿 🇺🇸👍🏿

I’m struggling to take apart the slide. Even with the lever down good grief. Weak hands here.
can you use wd40 as a gun cleaner?
good video. Glock 17 coming soon?
Hey Don, you can check out the Glock 17 video here: bit.ly/3dMBBs8. Thanks!
