In 74 your dad made you engineer sir our family didn't knew these things so how we should start a business and now in this century it's 100 times more difficult than you did in 76 sir ji you had luck it plays a big role not just working hard
Try to not look down to the things other achieved. It was also hard to start a business then but others like him made it big because and because of the attitude of taking risk and working hard enough. No luck can give you success so easily. Don't live to survive live to succeed. Start from whatever you have and keep on working and taking more and more experience from your own failures.

You need confidence of course, but you must first be confident in your ability, can you do it? have you got the ability? if not go out first and get ability in what you want to do, whatever you want to do, you need know how, then once you know your ability, you build your confidence, this may mean working for a big company, where you bolster your ability as you learn new ways and methods, equipped with this you need commitment to move out, this requires confidence and courage, and of course some money too, then you need full commitment, commit to your dream plans, go for it, overcome hurdles, anyone you shire to do something for you, if they say it can't be done, go to another person until one you find can do it, after this marketing is important, it is often said it is not what you know but who you know is very important, so by working in that big company you would already know gained more knowledge and how big companies work, you may also know many of its customers, so all you now need to do is now contact and establish a new fresh relationship with those people and offer them your product, that is how businesses develop, you have to make yourself known to others that you are setting up an alternative product, those customers may be more interested in your newer product, you too can supply a product of better quality and cheaper, competition is the key word, but quality is also very important, do not compromise on quality or you will fall flat on your face, make your product better and cheaper, if Chinese can do it, you too can do it too, and that is courage taking competition on by its horns, finally treat your workers with respect and pay them good money but also make sure you fire lazy ones, your workers are your muscles, you are the brain, pay them good they will work strong, retain good workers by paying them more. Hire the right ones, fire the wrong ones, finally if you want to get even bigger than reinvest your profits into R&D and bring in new products, better, and improve further on quality, keep abreast of forever changing technology, employ new talents, with newer technologies, don't stick to old outdated technology, you will need to do research on what people need and want, don't invent another Tata Nano, which although was a brilliant product, but people didn't appreciate it, it was the cheapest car ever made in a large production run, it beat the shit out of chinese, a brave and sensible effort but sadly people lost confidence in this little car because of "Indian ego" as they all want to drive the stupid overly priced Mercedes or BMW or Audi, but unless you take some risk, sitting at home doing nothing will not make you rich or mega rich. You will certainly not be able to make boilers unless you know something about boilers. You can make chocolates though and compete with cadburys, and you know what everybody loves chocolate, but you must make proper international standard chocolates not somewhere behind a house shed where there are millions of flyies! and no hygiene.

A luck is being in the right place at the right time, and meeting the right people, so it is a luck, same as if you buy a lottery ticket, if you are lucky, your number comes then you win a big prize, and we know everyone wants to win big prizes but is not practical paji, if everyone thought opening a big factory making anything and employing 100s of workers, then we would all be running big corporations, not many of us would be working for a company, we would be owning a company and employing workers. Another example, if someone has a talent, or a skill, or special knowledge and develops a product, unless he can have some money to start to make a prototype, until then no one would be interested in his product until he can demonstrate what his product is and what it can do, why it is unique, there is little point in reinventing a wheel, because then you will face competition, Tata Nano was an example, but that car was brilliant piece of engineering and shame Indian people are full of ego and felt cheap driving that nano car, yet it is the best thing people in India can drive because it is less polluting and more efficient than scooters and what not. So again it is a gamble, and a lottery. some money is still needed unless you can sing then you don't need much money, because voice is free, products are material things and material cost money.
