- This video is a step by step instruction on how to successfully build a guitar using a cookie tin for the body and even making your own neck! I tried to video or take a picture of every single thing I did along the way so as not to miss any important aspects of the build. I made a quick note for every pic and vid and amassed over 100 steps!
The guitar in the video is a four stringer tuned to F C F A. However, the dimensions used throughout the video are for a six string guitar. Originally this guitar was going to be six strings but I made the headstock just too small and thought a four string set-up would look a lot better. The only store bought specialty parts are the tuners (from C.B. Gitty) and the fretwire which is standard size. Maybe 7$ total for both. The tin itself is fairly large for a cookie tin but the bigger the better! Cutting the tin I used a utility knife (very carefully) but I recommend using heavy duty scissor or tin snips.
Thanks for watching the video and good luck with your build!

Wow, what a lot of work, but the results are fantastic! The guitar sounds very Nice. Hard to believe this video has so few likes. Hope you are still making cookie tin guitars
How to read and play notes with this? I only know how to play a 6 stringed guitar.
Thanks for watching June! Lots of people find using an “open” tuning like this one is easier to play than standard tuning. Great tunings to use are G D G B (open G) or for a more droning sound try G D G D. Use whatever tuning sounds good to you!
Open G Tuning as stated by Troy, then same note and fretboard theory apply as a regular 6 string
