From an insider engineer working for intamin: 525ft vertical spike, will be reverse lift hill, adding a bunny hill at the last run. Speeds reaching 155mph, entrance is being moved over by the old photo shop, queue is being moved under iron dragon, capacity will be the same and trains per hour will be the same as well. Public Announcement coming august 2023. Cost is between 15-22 million dollars. Coming from a source who works directly with intamin as an engineer.
I have this weird feeling that the entrance will actually stay where it was, but the queue gets completley enclosed for obvious safety reasons as well as theming. Could you imagine the main part of the queue being in an enclosed air conditioned building with space theming. Yes, it would be expensive, but I think it would be very cool. Maybe have some nods to Disaster Transport and have them in neon and lit up by blacklight. It would be very cool. Also another thing I think would be cool is basically in front of the photo booth have a model rocket ship facing up basically parallel with the spike. That would make for nice photo opportunities.
I personally hope it is a twisted spike to pay homage to Wicked Twister. The opportunity for it is just too obvious to pass up. Either way, this is really exciting and its gonna be intriguing to see further clues throughout the year until the announcement comes out in the summer!

I kind of like the idea of a straight spike but with the bend at the top like on the MACK power splash. That would mean that once you made it up to the top of the spike you would bend back a bit but then upon falling you'd get launched out of your seat. That would mean you'd start the drop on a massive spike with ejector airtime and then you'd free fall the rest of the way down.
After seeing this video, I think you’re on the money with the height. I’d think CP would make the spike between 460-475 to just eek out KK. I think it’s going to be twisted too, as a lot are saying, to pay homage to WT. But that leads me to wonder about the support closer to the top. We all know what Twister was like before the supports were added to the spikes & that was half the size of what this is most likely going to be. I can’t wait for the official announcement now. Thanks for making this anything but a dreary Monday.
I would personally slightly rather see a beyond 90 degree spike over a twisted one. Imagine going up a 110 degree spike at nearly 300+ feet.😱 Either way, I'm stoked to see the start of a spike!

i really hope it is not twisted......the free air time on pantheon is amazing. My wish is for a vertical straight spike and then on the return have a inverted stall.
They weren't the first coaster to hit 200, 300 or 400. They were the first FULL CIRCUIT coaster to do so but not the first roller coaster to do so. Roller coasters are roller coasters no matter the style.
This would be epic, but as Cedar Point pointed out, the true worlds tallest coaster is a complete circuit, and if it’s just the spike that’s the tallest, does it count as the world’s tallest coaster?
nah man. its all buisness they made the game and they will change the rules. They will Name the breed of 500 ft coasters and the spike will be advertized as the worlds tallest coaster. And I think we can all admit that there is a big difference between this and Superman EFK .

I’m not concerned with the height of the structure as much as I care for how high the train travels. Every seat needs to break the height. If the top of the spike hit 500ft, but the front of the train only reaches 450ft, that’s not a true 500ft coaster.
as a person who knows every inch of this place, i think 400-500 ft would be the target for CP to change the game as they normally have done. they've remained fairly quiet in recent years so they're coming with something
At this point in time, I'm personally thinking a straight spike in the 200-300 ft. range. What we're seeing is not the size of the footer but instead the size of the work site, with the footer(s) likely to form a smaller triangle inside, which may not be capable of supporting a 500 ft. spike. In addition to being much smaller, the orientation is also backwards from that seen for Drachen Spire, and with it unlikely there is space for additional footers nearby, I'm doubtful the tower would be able to support the torsional loads that would come with a twisting spike. Add in the fact that the spiraling vertical drop would make a twisted spike a bit redundant, and I just don't see it as likely for this project.
I totally understand the monetary element concerning if they're going to extend the main top hat of Dragster, but my theory is that they will. Dragster was already such an iconic, incredible ride that they will seriously have to one up it's revamp to make people happy. And the coaster wars haven't been prominent for 23 years, but why not take the most "slap in the face" element of the coaster wars, that being Dragster, and make it even better? I think they have to do something seriously amazing with it to keep the Dragster legacy going.
For various reasons (cough), This has GOT TO be, THE MOST talked about coaster in recent years, other than Steve (of course).. Kingda Ka:. Have you learned your lesson(?). LOLOL.. ;)
I pray for Rachel all the time. No need for homage straight Spike 475ft launched backwards so it can be enjoyed forward going down! We will be there to ride it no matter what.
This reimagined new coaster is going to be absolutely INSANE!! That footer is massive! I think we're looking at an overall top 5 roller coaster here! 🎢
Here's a far out thought, they closed forbidden frontier, what if we not only get the spike but it's a straight spike to save money and we get more of an extended layout than thought of at all. Pretty much pantheon on steroids. Think of pantheon with a 420' top hat 475' spike and layout to match. That would definitely be pushing #1 in the world. Maybe the layout goes to where forbidden frontier was and interacts with Millennium force. I know its far fetched, but maybe cedar fair said screw it thats a way to keep dragsters top hat and also get a pantheon style coaster.
Crazy thought. Everyone is thinking it will go over the top hat in the same direction as TTD. What if, they launch you up the opposite direction. Then on the old launch run, have an acceleration section to launch you even faster to go up the spike. Then either brake you on the old launch run and transfer track around to the loading station. Or...even launch you backwards back up the top hat and break to a transfer track. If listening to to the presentation at Winter Chill, the question was asked, how high would you like to see a roller coast. The last number tossed out was 500 ft by them. I suspect we will see 500 feet myself. I also am thinking they will be going with a space theme possibly.
All spikes have triangular footprints. The footers won't go to the edge of this slurry wall either so 60-70ft is a more reasonable estimate. Neither Intamin or Zamperla use massive monolithic footers the slurry wall is being used to help solidify the land so I'd expect individual footers some distance from the inside of where these walls are.
I really hope they go for that height record of 500ft! Between RMC T-Rex or that pipe dream of a coaster Falcons Flight. We are getting closer and closer to 500ft being a thing. I think if CP wants to be the first they better do it now! If they don’t, I don’t see them getting that height record first. I do believe this Reimagined Dragster will be the reason CP keeps the Crown of King of the Coasters.
I sure hope they add on to the exit side of the tophat. I mean, why not? The original TTD is kind of a one trick pony, so if you're gonna add a spike, you might as well extend the layout too.
I say the official announcement will be that Cedar Fair is removing Dragster completely and in its place, the brand new ride for 2024 will be all new Swan Boats designed to traverse most of CP's central lake and unlike the swan boats at Michigan's adventure they will have at least half of the swan boats designed to fit whole families. Since we all know that CF has been on a GP-happy trend and leaving roller coaster enthusiasts behind. Also Millennium Force will be retired and replaced by a kiddie playground that will extend to the nearby petting zoo. Steel Vengeance will be a $10 upcharge per rider per ride, payable at the security point where you get checked for items that go in the mini lockers. Just my bold prediction.
There has to be some level of safety over run at the top of a spike. With something like half the height again that would mean a 150 foot spike for a designed 100 foot drop from the spike. However, I think Cedar Fair would want to snatch the tallest coaster title back and build a 450 foot spike but only expect a train to travel about 200 feet up it. However, if the motors need more help, a 500 foot tower and 250 foot drop would give a doubled length over run and give that 500 foot crown
I think the cue line will be more towards iron dragon like you do. Also, If cedar fair wants to stay on top of the record books for the new dragster the spike will be 500 Ft.
I have a problem with this 500 ft tall spike theory. Hear me out. If the new coaster is a swing launch like everyone is predicting, Why do you need a 500 foot spike? If the first launch is up the top hat and then it reverses back and up the spike in reverse, why does the spike need to be 500 foot tall? This would give you way too much speed on the second part of the swing launch going back up and over the top hat. Instead, I think they're going to blow all of our minds and the layout of the track will be reversed. I think you'll be launching up the old brake run side all the way up and over the top hat and going forwards up the 500 foot vertical spike. Then gravity takes over and you'll repeat the entire thing in reverse, being reversed up and over the 420 foot top hat back into the station. A simple switch track makes it so they can be unloading and reloading trains while one is running the circuit.
But- Sorry to throw a 'wrench' in your theory/hope-- if new launch is to be down the old brake run , they'd have removed more track from that side!! TTDRon@4649
Another great video Brandon! Thanks for the work you put in bro. It feeds our hunger for POSITIVE TTD news and updates. This is definitely going to be iconic and maybe even history.aking knowing Cedar Point we shall see....
The way this is looking, looks like builds in rollercoaster tycoon , when you run out of space and basically start building into and on top of other stuff.
My worry is the launch wobble... When dragster launches, the track would wobble. If its a triple launch system and it starts to wobble after that first launch, it could get a little bumpy coming back into the spike.
If the spike is 450'+ it's going to have to launch towards the top hat first, I don't see a backwards launch first and hitting the spike 2x. You will need the momentum to get up the spike. Your prediction in the previous video would be nice but the higher the spike I see this as less likely
Hey Brandon, the new Zamperla trains are perfect for high speed travel, I suspect Zamperla will be doing the cars because they are the newest and fastest and are built for LSMs or LIMs. They said, they can run their cars up to 200 mph. What if, not only does TTD become the tallest swing launch spike roller coaster in the world and taking over Formula Rossi for the Speed Title? Just my thoughts, let me know what’s you think.
There is too much attention on TTD for Cedar Fair to stop the height increase just enough to beat out Kingda Ka, and miss out on the opportunity to break the 500ft mark. I think Theme Park Predictions is correct about the vertical launch. We will get to see the new Intamin vertical lift going the up the spike backwards, up to 500ft, directly out of the station. Then, the trains would get a faster than gravity fall back down the 500ft spike, accelerate past the station, down the straight away, and finally up and over the top hat. This would give riders the thrill of a rollback due to going up and down the spike and eliminate the swing launch which helps with capacity. Unfortunately, it would likely mean comfort collars. To me, the over the shoulder restraints would be a fine trade off to be able to look straight down at the ground from 500 ft in the air.
Except Brian, your fwd. 500' fall is not a TRUE RB, which is falling 'backwards'. Each great but not the SAME FEELING --just compare original Dragster's fall after tophat to a backwards fall during a RB!! TTDRon@4649(29)
I think I like your idea of launched spike.. 550ft tall would be likely tall enough to clear the top hat without any further launches. But I am wondering if Cedar Point got a huge discount on the Dracken Spire spike, maybe track fabrication began, or at least designs seemed finalized. I remember that spike being between 350-400ft (which still needs a huge footer).. Is it possible Intamin is doing track work with Zampela providing trains? Also I doubt they will have full speed trains passing through the station, so I expect station to be moved to other side.. Maybe the footer is just for a 200ft tall Iron Dragon Statue that breaths fire (lol). I just know 2024 will be an amazing year at the point, and likely me and my daughter will spend a huge chunk of our first day waiting for whatever it is they are re-imagining
That cofferdam is huge, but it's there to ensure the spike's construction site can be fully drained. The footers will probably be quite a bit smaller so they don't extend far into the lagoon, if at all. Doubt the hydrology of that plot is ideal for a very tall structure. And if Cedar Point is going with Intamin to be conservative with their investment, they're also likely to be conservative with the spike's height. Yes, it's possible the park reviewed the "Drachen Spire" concept and seriously considered it. But at the end of the day, they're really looking for changes that improve reliability and safety. Marketability ultimately comes third. They can market airtime hills and a backwards spike **of any height** as benefits of their new launch. A tunnel with lighting and onboard audio are marketable, too. And whether the spike is 120 ft, 160 ft, or 200+ ft tall, the new Dragster will still be the *"world's tallest and fastest multi-launch coaster."* So unless they're seriously concerned about Six Flags one-upping them with Kingda Ka, they won't build something insanely tall.
Personally, I would love to see a vertical spike. That’s keeping it realistic though… what I really want is like a 3/4th of a half loop and it stalls then releases. A bit extreme but I wish.
It’s funny that you mentioned Kingda-Ka, because I remember a conspiracy theory I made a while back that Six Flags was jealous that Top Thrill Dragster was more loved by the coaster enthusiasts than the former, even though Ka is taller than Dragster. My conspiracy theory was that because Six Flags was jealous of that, they sent a spy to sabotage Dragster, and that’s how the accident occurred. Seeing this now, I obviously know that’s not what happened. But if it did happen, and Dragster becomes the tallest roller coaster in the world, just imagine the look on their faces!!! Lol.
you know what wouldn’t happen but would be cool? having a backwards launch to start and have a backwards layout with an inversion and then a spike then going through forward and through the final launch up into the top hat
im a time served civil engienar with a masters degree in the UK and you would need to know the lenth the width and the depth to make the calcuation. As other have said (and as seen on oak island) that is a cofferdam to hold the water ingrees back while they excavate. second you would need to know the ground conditions and what soil your dealing with and how far down you are to solid bedrock. Obvioulsy looks pretty wet there and to me it looks like its not going to be that deep as the coffer dam would need to be bigger in relation to the excavation to achieve that hight as the pilings would need to be even deeper and pssoibly weighted like what they do in skyscrapers to offset the wind resistace. Also the higher you go the more extreme the forces would be which would need to be off set with more complex/deeper/stronger excavation.
1. I love the merch! 2.How cool would it be if you went up the spike going forward then when you drop back down you do the rest of the coaster backwards?
If CP put the que line area under the Iron Dragon track ride wouldn’t that be almost just as dangerous as before…..since a part from the Iron Dragon train could fly off and hit someone ?!
8:00 is it me or do the “old” launch supports look different? I thought they were all pretty much the same but some look bigger (thicker) i could be wrong.
that's a standard 8 foot ladder.. not 15 to 20 feet lol. Nothing coaster realated scares me.. but I might be a bit hesitant to ride up a 400' spike.. backwards facing straight down. Last row on Wicked Twister was already pretty crazy.
I think the geometry is off. If the 2 short sides are 42, that would mean end to end the only equal 84, and the back is supposed to be over 90? Wouldn't that be two parallel lines and not a triangle?
it would be best if it was a backwards climb up a 500 foot straight drop, over the top hat, into a barrel roll twist instead of a bunny hill. they don't need to extend the layout drastically just a small feature
I believe that footer is big enough to fit a twisted spike within it. Because like you said, this footer is bigger than pantheon’s and that leads me to believe that the new dragster will most likely get a twisted spike. They could also build on to the layout after the top hat, maybe a couple Immelmann rolls with an airtime hill, but that could be a bit costly.
There is something about the straight spike that sounds more appealing specially if big as you get that drop that has incredible weightlessness and speed. I would liken it to Superman at SFMM.
As to the use of TTD infield--there is a huge amount of space here. I dont believe it will be wasted. As for protecting people inside that area from any potential objects, there are very simple and space-saving ways to do that. Since the ride was originally opened I have felt that the energy the ride is carrying after the top hat has been wasted. I think there will in fact be an element in that area after the top hat. If I had to bet I think it will be world's tallest inversion.
I haven’t read every comment, but I feel like I’m in the minority that just wishes the coaster was going to be basically what it was, just with a new launch system. I don’t want the signature top hat to become secondary to a spike. To me, seeing the top hat structure sitting there in the middle of the park is one of the hallmarks of Cedar Point and a giant spike just isn’t the same. I also really don’t have a burning desire to go backwards up something hundreds of feet tall. But it will be what it will be and I’m sure I’ll ride and love whatever that is!
CP needs to announce what they are doing to Dragster sooner than August because once the Park opens they won’t be able to hide what they are doing to it……even when it’s closed like now !
I think the spike will be taller if it’s straight and shorter if twisted. I’m also still thinking full swing launch (up the hat, back, up the spike, forward, up the hat). I get the point about capacity but the #1 complaint about dragster (other than downtime) is “too short” so I think it’s an easy way to extend the ride. Also I will say one extra thing because of my experience with geotechnical foundation work and seepage - I am excited to see this sheet-piling as it is, because no 9-12” slab (which would be thick pavement) would warrant the introduction of sheet piling. They would probably just use paneling and pumps and pumps for drainage. Anyone who is still maintaining that this could be a queue area is in a weird sort of denial or overly managing their expectations.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg didn't want Drachen Spire anymore, so they gave it to Cedar Point. BGW: We don't want this piece of trash anymore, you can have it now! Cedar Point: Your loss!
You do good work. Keep it up. I'd prefer the spike not break 500 feet. Save that for a T-Rex, hopefully. Reclaiming the height record would be awesome.

I love both videos you have maid on dragster, all your videos are amazing. I really hope I can go to cedar point in the next few years
500ft spike easy. It's been a while since cedar fair grabbed a world record, I'd love to see TTD finally win height 20 years in the making.
For various reasons (cough), This has GOT TO be, THE MOST talked about coaster in recent years, other than Steve (of course).. Kingda Ka:. Have you learned your lesson(?). LOLOL.. ;)
Two ttd videos in one day! I am honestly so excited for 2024!
You're measuring the size of the cofferdam to keep the area dry not the frame of the footer.
If the Track was taken out and they are adding new track can’t they just make the Top Hat taller than Kingda Ka? Top hat at like 460 to 500 ft?
I love ur videos! Been on the same page with u this whole time. 🎉🎉
Thwnk you Alexis!!
Swing launch with 500+ vertical spike that goes beyond 90° PLUS additional new layout after top hat would be absolutely NUTTY 🥜
ElToroRyan has been real quiet since this dropped...
Maybe he needs to be careful. He does not want to give away his source or get them into trouble.
💯
There has to be some level of safety over run at the top of a spike. With something like half the height again that would mean a 150 foot spike for a designed 100 foot drop from the spike. However, I think Cedar Fair would want to snatch the tallest coaster title back and build a 450 foot spike but only expect a train to travel about 200 feet up it. However, if the motors need more help, a 500 foot tower and 250 foot drop would give a doubled length over run and give that 500 foot crown
I personally think it would be a lot more thrilling to make the spike non twisted
Possibly but it would be a cool homage to wicked twister to do it twisted
I think the cue line will be more towards iron dragon like you do. Also, If cedar fair wants to stay on top of the record books for the new dragster the spike will be 500 Ft.
Quick question, do you guys think dragster would get over the head restraints like ka? Or would it stay lap bars
Hope not
I have a problem with this 500 ft tall spike theory.
Yeh Drew- and a 500' RollBack [NO -2 RB's] every ride would be great!! Whatever how TTD ends up, hope an 'every ride RB' is in the offing.
This is gonna be exciting I will travel for this. For sure 😊
Wow! This is completely insane. That was one massive footer. Holy. Crazy.
The way this is looking, looks like builds in rollercoaster tycoon , when you run out of space and basically start building into and on top of other stuff.
This is going to be insane if it does go 500 ft!! I hope it does!! Can’t wait to ride it!!!
Much appreciate the structural analysis on the coaster, that is a gigantic footing
Wickedly Twisted Dragster!
I’d love it if it broke 2 records!!! We shall see thanks for watching!
Would it not launch or slow down on the second pass because of the height difference between the spike and top hat?
I just REALLY HOPE they keep that "Baby I'm Ready to Go" song, LOLOL... If they were cool, they would keep it... :)
I think a twisted spike would be cool as hell. Are you an Engineer ? You seem to know a lot about the coaster designs. Keep up the good work.
Nice two in one day😊

Great job Brandon, looks like your predictions are right on.
Lol.
Love the vids! Huge cedar point fan. Hoping this happens!
you know what wouldn’t happen but would be cool? having a backwards launch to start and have a backwards layout with an inversion and then a spike then going through forward and through the final launch up into the top hat
im a time served civil engienar with a masters degree in the UK and you would need to know the lenth the width and the depth to make the calcuation.
To say I’m enthralled by this is an understatement given Kingda Ka is my #1/200 lol
All this speculation about Dragster...but what about Montazooma's Revenge? That loop is still missing and there's much mystery around this project.
1. I love the merch!
2.How cool would it be if you went up the spike going forward then when you drop back down you do the rest of the coaster backwards?
Thank you 🙏🏻! I appreciate it! Backwards? That would be awesome
@@KeepRidinCoasters I’ll see you opening day in my new red dragster shirt from your store.
@@KeepRidinCoasters that'd be a true RB; see my comment to Brian Whelan! [also an every ride RB is my greatest hope for how it all ends up].
Dimensions of 90' x 42' x 42' is impossible for a triangle. The long side can't be greater than the sum of the lengths of the two shorter sides.
Bro Made 3 Top Thrill Vids In 8 hours 💀
Keep up the good work
that's a standard 8 foot ladder.. not 15 to 20 feet lol. Nothing coaster realated scares me.. but I might be a bit hesitant to ride up a 400' spike.. backwards facing straight down. Last row on Wicked Twister was already pretty crazy.
Unrelated but the Wild mouse trains are on site I tagged you in a video about it
prediction: they are going all out. 500 ft spike & layout extension. will become top 10 in the world,
That looks like Wicked Twister and TTD gave birth to a monster! 😅
So is maintenance for 20 years of TTD's life. Hopefully this gets better efficiency.
@@TommonSensePro I think it will, because Intamin has improved with the maintenance on their roller coasters
I think you're right about the twisted spike, but if I had my way, I would want a straight spike. Whatever it ends up being will be awesome
I know someone who’s working for the place that is pouring the concrete he said it was 70 ft deep! They’re my neighbor so lmk if u got any questions!
that is wild! This spike will be huge! I just uploaded a new video today about the spike - check it out
Who says it's a footer and not just temporary sheet pilings to work on drainage?
Plot twist: Brandon actually owns Cedar Fair and is leaking information! Way too spot on man!
💥 you caught me lol
Busch Gardens Williamsburg didn't want Drachen Spire anymore, so they gave it to Cedar Point.
BGW: We don't want this piece of trash anymore, you can have it now!
Cedar Point: Your loss!
You do good work. Keep it up.
I'd prefer the spike not break 500 feet. Save that for a T-Rex, hopefully. Reclaiming the height record would be awesome.
