- How would a magnitude 7.5 earthquake look like if it happened on the Great Glen Fault system in north United Kingdom? Watch this video to find out!

I hope my simulations will educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards and create more curiosity about Earth Science in general. I do also hope that my videos will inspire a future generation of amazing architects, engineers and scientists! We all need to peacefully work together to make this world a better place. :)
My goal is to show people around the world the effects of different earthquake shaking levels on various buildings and structures.
These simulations along with my piano music (Spotify/UA-cam: @pardonmypiano ) are part of my lifelong project called "In Terra Pax" that aims to bring financial and emotional support to victims affected by earthquakes around the world.

Imagine how catastrophic this would be if it actually happened.
a lot of masonry buildings would collapse in northern UK
It already happened in Turkey
Yeah this would be one hell of a disaster if it happened
@@revi0-Uk buildings aren’t built for earthquakes.
@@bensmall6548 Most buildings in Turkey have already been supposedly earthquake-resistant, how stable they looked in an earthquake
The largest known earthquake in Britain actually occurred off the west coast of Scotland back on Sept 19th 1508, the estimated magnitude is between M7.0 - M7.4, lets hope the next one holds off for a bit longer yet! 😯
The crazy thing is, in the UK , we’re taught little to no earthquake safety, so if this was to happen, only those with decent common sense could be alright
"Great Glen Fault"?
Now, that's a new faultline I didn't know about.
yep, you can look it up on Google :)
The straightness of the fault, being so straight and noticeable from satellite images is so mesmerising
There is an uncountable ammount of fault lines globally. Many even without a Name
It's very interesting to know that where we live might have a fault line running right underneath us... very scary
It’s quite impressive to see it in person. Also felt a few very small quakes from the fault :)
Great video! Can you please do more relatively unknown faults like this one?
so cool! would love to see more UK videos
Keep doin’ what ya doin’!
Could you do a magnitude 7.5 “deep” earthquake at 65 km depth in the southern Puget lowlands in Washington?
Welp, that's one way to get rid of Nessie
Can you make a simulation for the largest earthquake recorded, but it took place at Southwest of Indonesia (Sunda Megathrust)?
Thanks in advance.
Uh, yeah which program do you use to make this?
Thanks for another interesting episode. 👍
Could you also do a scenario in Germany?? I read there´s a small but existing risk of an earthquake in the Cologne area.
absolutely! :)
Interesting it would also be felt at belgium i dont live in Brussel in fact pretty far away of it but what kind of magnitude would it be on the richter scale ?
Awesome video
Thank you so much for watching :)
@@EarthquakeSim anytime
can you do it in France too ?
Yes
This would damage amstsrdam and my hometown lelystad also. Try a 6.5 in roermond and show the damage done there in next video
You can made the Simulation of Earthquake in Central Chile and North of Chile? I'm interested watch experiment
Do 5.6 Tokat, Turkey earthquake that happened yesterday.
Wow, this would be so devastating. Basically the whole of the UK and Ireland, as well as the the northern parts of mainland Europe would be affected by a quake like this. Edinburgh and Glasgow would both suffer a lot of damage and Inverness well, it would be a miracle if it will still even exist. And looking at the intensities, damage would be sustained even as far as Manchester and Birmingham, and maybe even Dublin. Not sure about London but it would definitely be felt there too. Thank god it's a highly unlikely event today.
I don't know if you've heard of it but in South Africa there's a fault line called the Milnerton Fault which runs right under the city of Cape Town, and is also dangerously close to the country's only operational nuclear power plant. The fault line is fairly active, having produced its last major quake just over 200 years ago in 1809. It's estimated to have measured somewhere between 6.0 and 6.5 on the Richter scale. At the time Cape Town, though not the metropolis it is today, was already a decently sized city/town for that period and the quake caused quite a bit of damage throughtout the city. According to experts the fault may be due for another major quake. Oh and the nuclear power plant that's close to the fault, called the Koeberg Nuclear Plant is claimed to be able to withstand earthquakes of up to 7.0 on the Richter scale. If possible can you do a simulated earthquake on the Milnerton Fault, maybe say 7.0 or 7.5 at most striking Cape Town.
You should make a video that has videos of earthquakes starting from Mercalli Intensity I to XII. @Disaster Compilations made it, but, their channel got deleted so, yeah!
I have done that already in many videos on my channel
@@EarthquakeSim No, I mean REAL earthquakes, not simulated ones. (sorry if I was kinda rude)
I wanted to know what would happen if 8.0 points happened on Sakhalin in... THREE PLACES???
can you do iceland next?🤭
Very informative!
Make a simulation 7.2 earthquake in west valley fault which is in metro manila
Glad that fault isn't active anmore
I'm pretty sure that this is the same fault line that generated a 3.3m Earthquake at the Isle of Mull back in January of this year. But the chances of it generating a 6.5+ quake in the near future is extremely low.
dind't you show the tuban earthquake in indonesia😥😥😥
It would be the United Kingdom's worst natural disaster.
In date?
latto - sunday service
What game
Hey bro, I know I said this before, and I apologize for being a bit late, but I'd definitely be down to seeing how a magnitude 11 mega-earthquake caused by a maximum power combined rupture of the Japan Trench and Kuril-Kamchatka Trench will play out. 😉 So might you feel up to that sometime? 😀
Im in uk
This is cool, i hope it doesn't happen in rl
And in France ?
I’m fucked
Теперь я могу знать больше ошибок :)
cutremur puternic
hello earthquke sim i made a earthquake video you can check it out
I lo
This should really say "UK & Ireland"
Disastrous!
