I did it on my full sus last summer solstice. That part you were struggling on is indeed super steep and I for sure was walking up that part :)
I love ebikes! I can ride through the forest with speed ~20km/h on just Eco mode (Bosch 50% support). Without engine I would go much slower (around 10-12km/h) and see much less. Same time on Eco I can have a great training.
It’s a tough ride in winter, I did it years ago on a 26” wheeled XC bike and absolutely loved it even though the weather was grim.
The good thing is that you can adjust the ep8 according to your needs. I personally think that the preset in the eco mode was too powerful to be really eco. I reduced the support in eco mode so that I get just a little support in comparison to a regular bike - that's what I want from an eco mode. Therefore I also reduced the support in the trail mode. Boost however is full on.
Thanks for the tips!
It should be pointed out as per tip no.3, that anyone wanting to emulate this would be well advised not to do it alone... for a couple of reasons that may or may not be obvious depending on how experienced you are in the mountains... and from this point onwards D.A. will always be known as Captain Dangerous.
Love it! Got the Levo last summer and the fun factor is off the charts! Still love my road bike but an eMTB is something else. Put on a bike computer and you can still get a great workout by riding to power.
I still do 150 miles a week on roadbike or more, but the E Mt bike is pure fun! I just push harder and further on the E bike,
@@bradsanders6954 same here. Still do my road km’s but for some adrenaline rush, hard to beat the eMTB.
Maybe this will show some that you can get a tough workout on an ebike.
Ive done 65 miles on My Spectral ON, including 3000' of climb. Downhill of course takes no battery.
They go further than some think they do. I still had 2.5 bars showing after 65 miles.
For me the CF8 version has been really good, the bike has been bulletproof. We rode dirtbike trails yesterday which really tested the motor and legs both at full chat.
Suspension is very plush, the weight of the bike helps the bike go straight thru rocks and what ever.--------------

A trick to get going smoothly on a steep hill, is to drag the rear brake a little to keep traction .
Have you ridden the bosch motor as well.....I want the spectral but never had the shimano motor...
@@phantombigballs8165 The shimano motor sounds bad online, people love to bitch, but works great out in the real world. Mine is quiet and I can go plenty fast with it, shimano has the longest best warranty also.
great video! I used to mt bike in my younger days but nothing like that!
Great review. I've been mtn biking since the 90s and I don't get why flat pedals are preferred over clipless on downhills. Surely I need to adjust my riding style but all I've found is that flat pedals are capable of inflicting gnarly scars on your legs.
4 years with flat pedals now, on all my bikes, no scars on my legs. Find the right shoes and pedals and they work great, for me.
Best bike ever!
So what about the 29" at front and 27 at the back? (Mullet) is it good for everyday trails and XC? Ask this because I have the Neuron On 7 and 29" front and rear. Good JOB!
Waiting for my spectral to turn up. Great video and thank you for taking the time to show the bike off, but given your range you had left you could have popped it in turbo and had a chance of not having to push, so I would have to disagree with your comment the battery is a bit much. But again depends on what you want out of a bike.
You still like the bike ?
From the cafe to the summit 1h 45m on a none assisted bike .Far better places to test the bike than flip flop mountain sir. but the bike looks brilliant
Not sure you mentioned where you rode was it Snowdon 😊
I think you need a bike with a tank tread to make it up that bad boy!
@David Arthur i can see you went up llanberris path butnwhich way did you return?
Down the Rangers path. Petty techy to start with but gets easier further down
@@davidarthur- I’ve done Snowdon a few times with some buddies , before E-bikes we’re a thing, 2009-2014, and we did Llanberris up and Rangers down. The best way 👍🏻😊
Hope you had a walk mode on the handlebar
It does, I didnt see him using it.
If this came with Bosch cx it buy it today
No Dave, nooooo lol
No David, not you noooo .... 😭
Looks like a ruddy light off road motor bike!! Ugly as sin, but wouldn't say nobody I was offered one for free!!😁
Ebikes have nothing to do with cycling, sorry.
we'll have to disagree on this
This is what bicycle riders say who have never tried an e mt bike, they know nothing so they say things like this.
Never tried one so it cant be any good, right?
@@bradsanders6954I said the same until we rent emtb on vacation. You can still have a workout. Some had 5% bat left and some 45% after the ride. Eco mode on and hb 185rpm. Ride on top of the hill and fly down
