Newbie Hatchet Restoration - what could go wrong?

  • My 2nd tool restoration project. This was difficult to get just right. I learned a lot and can definitely do better next time. Constructive criticism welcomed!

    Great job, Cris! Excellent video quality as well! So, you found that grinding the head gave you the finish you wanted? Looked like it kept some of the black tinge to it, which was cool. Getting to a mirror finish might have made it look more like an ornamental piece instead of a working hatchet.

      Thanks Jeff! I think both grinding discs (flap and then regular grinding) got me most of the way, but then I used the belt grinder a lot. I did want to keep some of the black tinge and not go to mirror. If I want to go to mirror in the future I will need to improve my angle grinding technique.
