I like that this is good faith but no nonsense. You're fair but you don't excuse any of Destiny's behavior even though you're clearly a fan. It also made me crack up a number of times, I really liked the courtroom format for this one, it was really fun. Honored as always to take part :D You used me well and the judge voice was quite fun.
This is frustratinng because y'know Destiny is kind at heart, you know that he could do better than this yet stumbles at every step when trying to make a correct decision
Nice video, though I didn't know I was following yet another person in the twitch politics sphere... I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. 2 points though: 1. You claim a trend for 3 behaviors, but only give one example of each behavior. 2. I'm not sure how open he really is to changing this. He's tried to improve his rhetoric with the "2021 rherotically effective" quasi-arc and all, but it seems to me like the way he sometimes engages in issues like these -- and especially on twitter -- is purely to have fun, in a sense, and getting similarly bad responses just reinforces his feelings that doing so is the best response route (vicious cycle perhaps?)
There's a lot to respond to here, but for now I'll just say this: glad you enjoyed the video, I tried to include some other examples at the end, but this video was long enough as is, and while he is indeed having fun on Twitter, it's no justification for why he's so unpleasant there. But that's just my take ;) Thanks for stopping by.
These are dark times :p I hate the new layout. Shockingly, no dislikes so far. Thought there would be at least one or two rabbids who wouldn't even want to hear me out past the first minute, but looks like most people made the effort to at least get through a chunk of the video
also overall this was a really good video but i disagree with the second example (even though it’s probably right in ither circumstances). big joel used “the man steals your walkman” which seems pretty dismissive and bad faith
I'm like 99% sure booksmarts has had this discussion with destiny before (maybe even multiple times) and he was like "People are so bad faith to me I don't feel the need to be good faith to them" or something like that. I think it was this video: ua-cam.com/video/YWDX-yOyQ0A/v-deo.html
I think this was a really cool video format. I also liked some points you were reflecting, but I saw two things a little bit different. Destiny isn’t really a progressive in the terminus common in today’s America I think. When u go to the left side of the spectrum it is divided in left left (progressives) and middle left (liberals). I think this is important because in a big chunk of Europe a lot of destiny’s stands and points would be center some even center right. Here in Germany we wouldn’t really consider him left leaning overall. And the then the first cringe level: Oh boy. I know it’s often about, what the person means and not how the other person feels about it but yikes. I think it was a huge dick point. When u tell a female person she got there, where she now is based on her looks… u kinda invalidate the work she but up to get there. And it’s something most Women here on a consistent basis. So then u go in a discussion with someone who you think is better than that and want to argue (no matter how hard she won or lost) and the other one throws that out, when he gets frustrated. I mean. That can really hit hard. Don’t want to invalidate your points in any way. Just another perspective
Oh, you're 100% right about the Denims part: even though I labelled it "level 1 cringe" in my video, I don't think it's ever right to say what Destiny said. I just wanted to let it be known that people say dumb things sometimes when they know they're in the right and others are being obtuse, so that was the inkling of an emotional justification I gave for that specific instance. As for the "is Destiny a leftist" question, you're certainly correct--on a global scale, he's hardly a leftist in terms of his economic beliefs. However, if we take the other 3 pillars of what I'd generally consider to be the left's common platform (focus on civil liberties as opposed to authoritarianism, culturally progressive as opposed to culturally traditionalist, and globally minded vs nationalistic), I think he very much fits into the leftist zeitgeist. For me he checks enough of the boxes, but I can understand why someone might evaluate his presence on the political spectrum as hardly being much to the left. It all depends on what we choose to focus on when making such evaluations in the first place. Thank you for the thoughtful comment, and glad you enjoyed the video format!
I think at this point there's been too much bad blood between Destiny and the rest of the internet politics world, I can't imagine him being anything but bitter and angry. I've been watching him long enough that I've learned to filter out most of his vitriol, knowing what he's been through I can't honestly fault him for turning out this way, but I also don't blame anybody who finds a serious issue with it. P. S. Richard Wolff sucks
"only the left can offer competent competition" i mean, if you are already fully endorsing leftwing ideology, its hard to concede any point to the right, so this is a disingenuous assessment. whereas if it's a team debate about a niggling point, its easier to find yourself doubting or mulling it over. and what about centrists? by this point in time, a leftist like christopher hitchens could be viewed by modern audiences as a centrist and hitchens would tear destiny apart in debate. dude took on like 4 other people in debate and held his ground. he could be slobbering drunk, in a soporific haze, and still outmaneuver his opponent with poetic words and trenchant remarks.
"Destiny was too mean to my favorite ultra progressive friends" all those three people were absolutely unreasonable in one way or another to steven and he doesn't need to be "the better person" especially with people who frankly were never charitable to him in the first place, I mean you put freaking demon mama here, who aside from being extremely bad faith is one of the most insufferable left streamers out there, for each leftist he's roasted he has done way worse to probably 10 right wingers and his community loves him for that, so I don't see the problem at all, you said it yoursel. Also the fact that you think that a concept so morally cut and dry such as defending your property against thieves is somehow something to be "discussed" is really sus dude.
Destiny popularized the debate format for better and for worse. As it is the format is flawed and can be ultimately hurful (go watch the Professor Flowers debacle to see how frustrating these things can get) .And ultimately i have mixed feelings on the matter. On one hand,it was the thing that got me into leftist content in the first place whilst also being a point of contention for many MANY leftist .I guess what im trying to say is that just like what Noah Samsen said:LISTEN to the critques, listen to what the others have to say, think critically abt it and form your opinion. And i think that some debate streamers SOMETIMES not always remember the first three
Professor Flowers is such a good creator but im so over with the drama between Vaush that it has made me hesitant to watch anything from either of them
Yikes. If Vaush is the better example, things are BAD. Political streamers are not justifiable. Politics is serious, and they turn it into a spectator sport, forgoing theory and analysis in favor of... jeez, I don't even know what. They discuss issues of life and death as abstractions, playing to the crowd, when what we need is engagement and action. Unless they move on fairly quickly, they stunt people's growth when we very much need that not to happen. Some folks are trying to SURVIVE. They play it as a game from their gamer chair. It's grotesque.

Thanks for your contribution hombre :) Gave the whole video quite the spicy flavour that it needed
This is an amazing video. Great work. Nice perspective. Very persuasive.

Use me as an excuse to talk more about the wolf (?) guy in the first example !
I miiiiiight ;) I do love giving cool people what they want, and your user name is, in fact, very cool
how many dislike did this video got cuz I literally have to request the creator to ask about it
These are dark times :p I hate the new layout.

the wolff analysis would be very interesting

Also i follow Shaun on twitter, he does not seem that sociopathic
Destiny is a paradoxical enigma

I feels ya. You articulated my own sentiment on the matter so well.

Hello
Hai :)
@@themanicpineapple8772 the video is good as always

This is the worst thing since this morning. Bye.
Worst thing since the ocean and poker
Meh he was fair to vaush on the rittenhouse case, vaush sounded almost like one of those preachers from the 90's
I don’t think he would disagree with you
Fingers crossed
