This song brings tears to this grown man's eyes !!! As a 57 year old Mama's Boy , I can't imagine the pain he felt when he lost his Mom at 18 , but this is a Glorious Tribute to his Mom , Sister , and Baby Daughter !!!!!

it is a gift of Mandolin Orange to share with the world. So many folks here just found and fall in love with you guys. The magical music from the heart enters the world is like an angel descending to the physical reality, guiding us to the utopian garden which is only an eye-closing away. Everyone truly wishes Mandolin Orange to continue doing what they love that makes people love them.

Hey, Georgie Cat, Iove this band! I was rolling through UA-cam, a few weeks ago, looking for a bit of this or a bit of that when - WHAM! -
serendipity struck, and I became an instant fan!
For the past hour or so I've been listening to a whole bunch of Mandolin Orange, sippin' a glass or few of a fine dry red, accompanied by a rather well-rolled little joint!
Time to roll another one, just like the other one!

I have a 7 year old daughter and this song has so much meaning. I've listened to it i know 100 times. it's sad but ends with the perfect message. it took me a minute to figure it all out but I'm sure people have their interpretations. it just makes sense to me the way I interpreted it. all their songs are good as well. I would love to see them live.

I purchased a mandolin oct 2016 and have played it almost every day since .. my guitars collect dust now and im so used to the tiny fretboard that a guitar feels like im holding a 2x4 for the neck area .. lol

Great song indeed! Lyrics are not mine of course: It's a darling girl, my darling girl with eyes as dark as night
And a heart so true but just so strong, set to live a darling life
As years roll by, she'll grow up fine and she'll sing a silent song
But she'll find your piano and she'll find her wings
And she'll sing all the days ...
    I'm waiting on a ghost
To show her love in arms
And sweet Marie I can see your faint light shining down on me
Well go call on her brother and her sister too
Go call on all the town
Tell them all today, your darling girl is to wear a wedding gown
And though it all came so fast, ten years soon will pass
    Before there's room for three
My sister will grow, my mother will know
Soon there will be room for me
    I'm waiting on a ghost
To show her love in arms
And sweet Marie I can see your faint light shining down on me
Like an old toy top spins and stops
Or tag ... in the ball
A long summer's wait come walking down
She'll be buried in the fall
And now she sleeps with you Marie
    Bittersweet is this old world
They tell me soon my sister too will have a darling girl
    I'm waiting on a ghost
To show her love in arms
And sweet marie I can see your faint light shining down on me
