Hey guys! Something a little different here - a "lore video" about our own history! Let me know what you think, because I'd like to do more of these for historical Total War games, DLC, and settings - and I always like constructive feedback! Cheers!
Gallic empire owning the Hispania for the whole period of the game doesn't make sense, it just makes re-conquering the borders even more tedious and it isn't even historically accurate.
I have played a lot of total war games.. Total war: empire, total war shogun 2, total war attila, total war rome2 and total war warhammer.. all of them are great but i think we spent enough time in europe and i got tired of it.. I just wish or hope that we move to different places like Asia there are plenty of factions during the 2nd and 3rd century there or in 14th century we have the ming dynasty and korea and mongols and we also have the south east asian factions
Wow nice DLC nice story nice everything, BUT GAME IS STILL BUGGED SHIT SO MUCH CRASHES rome2 sucks atilla rules THNK YOU FOR ATILLA IT SAVED MY TOTAL WAR
To be completely honest with you, after i've played Total War Warhammer 1+2, i have tried to play Rome 2 and Attila and i must say that in comparison the historical Total War games are not as interesting to me as they were before the Warhammer releases. They bloated economy and building option pool is taking too much time to deal with, especially in the mid game and the battles are kinda mediocre with the same troops in every faction, only with different stats. Warhammer has trolls, wolves, dragons a.s.o. and as said before, historical Total Wars only have Swordsmen, archers, Riders only with a bit different stats and appearance. And i really liked Rome 2 and Attila, that's the sad part.
There certainly is a uniqueness to a fantasy game (especially Warhammer) that will be hard to replicate the magic of (pun not intended). A lot of the issues with past games boils down to UI/UX that is just not as good as Warhammer - it being the newer game. I'm hoping the next historical games (saga, the new era, and beyond) put more of a focus on UI/UX alongside the more comprehensive mechanics to make a deep but enjoyable experience. I also hope the next historical game is not mono-cultural - variety is the spice of life!
Yeah but in Warhammer (which I still really like though) they gave up all of Total War's depth in battle mechanincs to replace them with magic and special units granted by the fantasy setting. No special formations, no loose formation, no dismount option, WORST SIEGES EVER...
Debasing the currency wasn't a problem? Really? Debasing ANY currency causes loads of problems, even today. If the value of one's money is worth less than it was before, THEY LOST VALUE. And if this doesn't happen through basic supply/demand and was the result of the government, then another way to put this, "THEY WERE STOLEN FROM THROUGH FINANCIAL MANIPULATION". This is a problem, just on its own, and it's why governments really ought not to do it.
Oh for sure - I guess I oversimplified that bit there - I just meant that debasing the currency once isn't the end of the world in a dire situation, compared to the precedent it set for the future of the Empire.
Your statement seems to assume that devaluation brings only risks and no benefits. Value is only what people accept. If people place great importance on fertiliser in an agrarian economy, then gold might itself not be worth as much as a certain amount of horse shit. For a modern day example you only have to look at how the developed economies of Germany and France have artificially hitched their economies to the less valued economies of Southern Europe, in order to artificially depress their monetary value and flog cheaper cars around the world.
Instead of creating new things CA started adding several units and maps to existing games. At least they are not calling this as Rome 3 totalwar like they did with Warhammer 2.
They're still making a full new game, and the historical Saga game. This is just to tide us history fans over, and I'm okay with that, considering there are multiple teams, and I want the next historical game to be buttery smooth and awesome at launch!
I am satisfied by many games ,Divinity 2 for example was legendary,Rime very emotional.Only CA is keeping the bar low.If you don't have resources to make a new game then don't make it until you have.
PartyElite, I enjoyed that historical overview. Ever since this was announced I have been looking into sources to educate myself on the 3rd century Crisis in anticipation.
That's basically my MO here! Total War games ignited my love for history - and so I want to make these to cover the topics and how they might reflect in-game... Just like I was doing for Warhammer =)!

Seems like a great idea to me
Yes, please do more 'lore' videos for the historical content as it comes out.
PartyElite it's just history. Lore is fiction, history is not, they are not interchangeable.
+Lin Huichi 'twas but a joke referencing all the Warhammer lore videos =D.
The thumbnail was a really nice small detail XD
3:09 Odneathus ( I forgot how to spell his name) didn’t rebel against the Romans it was his wife as he had already died
Mcstripey he didnt bro, he was royal
Odenaethus was poisoned by Zenobia and she put her son on the throne but she was basically the ruler
10/10

Here is a little tip for you when you are speaking Latin names, pronounce each letter in the word and pronounce 'v' as'w'.
I would so play this if they patch out spaghetti armies.
But how can you Italy without Spaghetti?
How the fuck can anyone not like the roman era, its got everything i love it!!
Will there be any change to the battle mechanics after this new DLC is released ?
Does DEI support the DLc?
when do you think we will have news about future content for Warhammer 2?
No clue, but I imagine sometime before Christmas!
does anyone know if the updates will also work with the old game and all its expansions?
A shame all the factions aren't 'heroic' with unique leaders and tech-trees etc.
There's only 10 of them.
Gallic empire owning the Hispania for the whole period of the game doesn't make sense, it just makes re-conquering the borders even more tedious and it isn't even historically accurate.
Why the hell we can't get a historically accurate map in theese games?
All you need to do is to just google it :(
So dissapointed :(
link to the image of the dlc? the one with aurelian and the mask charging archers
DF go to the total war forums or try to searcj for those pictures. Theres a guy who draws all of those. Rome 2 attila most of the newer games
Still no romance of three kingdoms. Guess I will keep waiting for another 100 years.
Hold out for the next major release.
Yay! I love “wome”. It’s bwilliant! Spencer twacey and wapists.
Wome is wonderful - one ow the wombs in which the western world was grown.
No Lusitani? C'mon .. Too Easy!!
The historical accuracy of CA's new DLC campaign map is complete dog cough* -_-
Great video tho :D
So attila?

Dark Ascension True!
Dark Ascension exactly the same here

Nah fam, seeing legionaries with their locally augmented auxiliary troops holding out against endless barbarian hordes never gets old
Yeah but in Warhammer (which I still really like though) they gave up all of Total War's depth in battle mechanincs to replace them with magic and special units granted by the fantasy setting.

thanks for spoilers.
I mean, the show finished like 1700 years ago, so if you haven't caught up with it yet, you're not a real fan =P

You increase the value of the Japanese yen and see what happens to their economy.

A little late :P
Yeah a rough week delayed me, hah. Either way - I wanted to dive into the setting a bit =)!
