The thing I love most about this band is how selfless of a front man papa is. Most frontmen basically make the show revolve around them, and while papa is obviously the figure of the band he constantly highlight the others, like pointing toward them during their solos and getting the crowd to applaud louder for them from 5:46 onwards. Class act.
All the replies acting like they don’t still do this, plus, putting the spotlight on them even more now by adding more bits for the ghouls to have fun with. Edit: An update, recently for Respite at the concerts, they also give a segment to each of the members so the audience claps for all of them one by one (rather than just the audience clapping for all of them at the same time). Not to mention Papa handing them flowers and gifts, or how 3 ghouls are now also doing vocals. All of this stuff didn’t happen pre-prequelle, the ghouls are getting more appreciation now than ever before
how in the hell did these guys stay under my musical radar for the past 5 or 6 years..i also think their live sound is better than studio so the sooner they release a live disc the the happier i'll be...now a devotee
There are very few modern dark metal bands that I care for. Ghost picks up where the great riffs of the 80's metal bands left off - big riffs, hooky turn arounds, and vocals with clarity and harmony. Although I'm not a fan of backing tracks in live performance, Ghost uses them tastefully. They're a well balanced and very musical band with charisma. I was born in the 60's and like all kinds of music. I've played in several bands that never amounted to much so I know it's not easy to stand out from the crowd while keeping a band together. Can't wait to see Ghost in October.
It was like the church choir playing at the beginning. And that guitar stagger sounded sinister. These were like a bonus to the usual performance. I loved it !!
I like the fact that Papa tries to kind of imitate the Pope in the ways that he greets people and carries himself on stage. Imo, the music is "soft" because it is like holy music, except, obviously to Satan. I just like the ways they imitate the Pope and the way they are on stage just, you know, shows they know what feel they're going for.
The Crowd should be the ones backing Papa up. I think Ghost's songs really should be sang along to. I cant imagine a more perfect sound than the crowd belting out the chorus along with him..
They don't and never have hidden the backing tracks. You have to figure that the band all wear masks so they can't sing so someone has to do the backup vocals - so they are all on tape. I couldn't give LESS of a fuck about that - this band is fucking brilliant.
So quickly? They haven't toured since last spring. The a7x tour doesn't even count because it was with shitty bands and it didn't come to California (wouldn't have gone anyway).
I guess im counting Oct because they were here with deftones and a7x - I just wanted to see them ::)) i'd go to see them open for any band but totally fukking psyched they're headlining this tour and doing so many dates. Happy I can see them a few different times. Last spring yes :)
Adrianna Fahrenheit yeah. Ghost is my favorite band and has been for few years. But slipknot are, to put it simply, metal gods. No one makes slipknot look like Disneyland. Slipknot makes most bands look like Disneyland.
Slipknot is literally a completely different genre of music. It's like comparing Garth Brooks to Taylor Swift. I don't see how they can even be compared other than the masked gimmick.
This is my 3rd favorite band until Queensryche can get their shit together, come to their senses and bring back Geoff Tate. The transitions in this guy's voice are beautiful.
Every performance from these guys I've heard the vocals sound a little too perfect..I hear the backing track so I know he's not opposed to lip synching.
The fact that you hear the backing track proves he doesn't lip sync. The track is just the backing vocals, no leads. And I've heard him mess up before.
Since the band doesn't do the backup vocals, they use a track of the harmonies and choir vocals to back up Papa's live leads. He is singing live, but the way the production is on the album, it would be impossible to reproduce that sound live without touring with a choir, so they are currently using a track.
***** I've got one (a vocalist live 2). It's OK if you want to harmonize at specific intervals... but if you've got a shit-hot drummer capable of playing with a click, it's far less hassle to just give the engineer a cable from a laptop.
***** Unless you're talking about a different one than what I know of, they are very artificial and electronic sounding. That wouldn't fit with Ghost's sound. fun. uses it live for Some Nights and it makes the song infinitely worse than the album version with the actual backing vocals.
+TheRealConcertKing It's 3 different characters. The name itself is a joke.. Professor Emeritus means to be a retired professor.. the pope retires when he .. DIES.. papa emeritus. It is the same guy the only flaky spot in the band has been the bass player... Omega / Alpha have been the same guys since the beginning and I believe t hey have a different drummer now.
+TheRealConcertKing It's a joke, the 3 papa are the same person, imagine how hard would it be to find someone with the same voice as the previous papa lol
Lehtokurppa Von Fön actually listening to it again, it was pretty precise. Not sure why he did it that way and not shocked over never heard them do it that way again. Here’s to trying new things. Lol
I thought that, but now that I listen too then I think their look suits them perfectly. Over the top and almost silly but still fucking creepy. Shit their first album almost has Scooby Doo vibes going on. And like, you could totally see papa being a Scooby Doo Villain. If we pull off papas mask and makeup he's probably the gardener. It's always the fucking gardener.
I asked the band if they wanted me to not upload this one, but they told me to go ahead and do it despite the fuck ups.
The main riff of Ritual is so fucking awesome! The lead guitar just rips at the ending, chops from HELL !!
still the best papa for me
We believe in resurrection but it'll be a while
@@BoonTobias80 well.. it's possible now(?
One can only hope!
The thing I love most about this band is how selfless of a front man papa is. sadly this does not apply today
wtf are you on about
This comment aged like milk.
Saddened Dead not def*

I think the visuals add to it a lot. Perhaps a DVD, rather than a live album? But with a huge budget so they can have some crazy stage props
THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME, they just released a live-album!
Yeah, i kinda feel the same. I just started listening to these guys about a year ago. They come up with some wicked riffs.
how in the hell did these guys stay under my musical radar for the past 15 years tf
I laughed my ass off when he fingerbanged the mic while singing procreate.
+The Joker Me too, lmao
That right there is proof that Papa is one of the funniest guys in the metal world.

Orange amps !
This has to be one the most amazing performances I have ever seen.
I love his voice
I really admire their ability to remain cool when something goes wrong...Listen to their live in Rock in Rio and you'll understand!
It was like the church choir playing at the beginning. And that guitar stagger sounded sinister. These were like a bonus to the usual performance. I loved it !!
Pure talent! I can't wait to see them!!!!
Miss this lineup. Simon did an amazing job in the last solo.
This fuckin' rocks., pure live, pure energy.
I hope they release a LIVE DVD someday
One of my fav songs from Ghost. I used to play this on the drums as a warm-up \m/
I. Love. Papa. So. Much. I. Literally. Can't. Even.
***** rekt
+ladysurreal Me. Too. Love. Him. To. Death!
Lady Surreal Then. Don’t. Even. And. Go. Away.
And lucky you you knew about them so long ago. I'm a new ghost fan in 2023
This by far is the best video I have ever seen on UA-cam. These guys are amazing!
only about the 9th time i've watched this since yesterday lol..good quality recording and like i said below their live sound is fuckin excellent
I like the fact that Papa tries to kind of imitate the Pope in the ways that he greets people and carries himself on stage. I saw that tour. Great memories
The way he was like "what the f*ck" when year zero started playing is so funny
OMG, his finger at 3:20 xD
!!!HAHAHA
JAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I CAN'T
LMAO
The Crowd should be the ones backing Papa up. I think Ghost's songs really should be sang along to. I cant imagine a more perfect sound than the crowd belting out the chorus along with him..
Phenomenal camera!
La alineacion perfecta,el mejor papa !!!!
Recomendado,presentacion en Chile del 2014🥰🥰🥰🥰
great recording!! can't wait for the new album!

i got me them Ghost bumps..
that bass is hitting during the verse
1:50 Only I thought the sound had failed? 😂
I miss old Ghost 🖤💀
im just started today my vinyl collection with his second album :D
Tobias is definitely top 5 best frontman ever imo
😏
Counting days until the North American April17 - May 17th tour coming up!! Making sure to see them shitload of times :) xxx best band ever :)
I'll just be at the SD and Santa Ana shows, I was considering the LA show as well, but something else came up on that night.
It's going to be so amazing xxx Happy they're coming back so quickly :) Wish I was going to all the CA shows!!!!
I gotta see them live one day
I was at that show! The rocked! Will be seeing them again in April at the Fonda Theater
Ghost makes Slipknot feel like a ride at Disneyland.
The tea cups...
BenFredrick78 That’s stupid. I like em both. Everyone has to make everything some contest or ranking system. Ever just enjoy something ?
……In what world? I like both (& I like Ghost more) but holy shit let’s be real, it’s the other way around.
I love the guitar arpeggios at the end.
Old Ghouls + Tobias is real GHOST
We're seeing them in Minneapolis Saturday night -can't wait! GHOST!!
0:54 Year zero backing track fail ha-ha
this is greattttt
05:33 Lucky Bastard. I want.. -.-
I have been listening to all three Papa's vocals. The character has changed, but I will swear to Satan it is the same guy. The voice is too similar.
Andey McFarlin No they're all different. The new singer is the 3 month younger brother of Papa II.
OK that makes sense. Siblings tend to have similar voices.
Andey McFarlin It's the same guy, but different outfits.
Hawk2571
Yes I have found that out. New Ghost fan here.
Andey McFarlin Welcome to the congregation my friend!
that fucking riff omg
papa II was the best
Mine has been papa 3
Pappa 2 for me aswell.
You are so right
Papa ll was the best
lol at 3:18
Hahaha papa is awesome
+Zoe Mon I want him to do this somewhere on ME. :P
*****
the belly button?
Zoe Mon
exactly, it's my G spot... hahahahaha
Metal Has Hope!!!! Trust In Ghost
First time I've seen the backing tracks fuck up !! The pre recorded backing vocals for year zero start playing.
This is my 3rd favorite band until Queensryche can get their shit together, come to their senses and bring back Geoff Tate. The transitions in this guy's voice are beautiful.
3:20 , his finger
I miss the original ghost!
1:50 Oops
The bass🛐💀
I love that song ritual Bravo!
The best era
I thought the mess up was done on purpose at first, in order to create a creepy sound.
Every performance from these guys I've heard the vocals sound a little too perfect..I hear the backing track so I know he's not opposed to lip synching.
The fact that you hear the backing track proves he doesn't lip sync. The track is just the backing vocals, no leads. And I've heard him mess up before.
I can assure you that there is no fake singing.
Come back old Ghost :(
Take Cardi of your pfp then😂
Backing vocal for Year Zero?? Then Papa use playback?
Since the band doesn't do the backup vocals, they use a track of the harmonies and choir vocals to back up Papa's live leads. He is singing live, but the way the production is on the album, it would be impossible to reproduce that sound live without touring with a choir, so they are currently using a track.
TheRealConcertKing It's actually posible, there's a microphone pedal that gets your voice in different notes to do a backup choir when you need it. :)
***** I've got one (a vocalist live 2). It's OK if you want to harmonize at specific intervals... but if you've got a shit-hot drummer capable of playing with a click, it's far less hassle to just give the engineer a cable from a laptop.

TheRealConcertKing Have you tried the Helicon? It sounds incredibly real and good, man. I doubt this is the case, I'm just saying it is possible.
This proves that it's the same Papa. It sounded exactly like the studio version of the song.
+Anthony Bova I don't know what you're talking about, they've announced that they are 3 separate people. What more do you want?
78starbuck I trust their word over yours.
+TheRealConcertKing It's 3 different characters. The name itself is a joke.. Professor Emeritus means to be a retired professor.. the pope retires when he .. DIES.. papa emeritus. +TheRealConcertKing It's a joke, the 3 papa are the same person, imagine how hard would it be to find someone with the same voice as the previous papa lol
Cesar Monroy Clearly didnt read teh previous replies..
Yep. The alternative is touring with a small choir, very difficult logistics wise.
I want him back :(
Hell Yeah... I was here with my beautiful girlfriend. It was a joyous night
I lost it when he put his finger in the mic holder while singing "procreate."
Did you notice Papas Finger Action starting at 3:20 ?? lol.
I love this band.
I thought that was on purpose LOL it sounded really good
Lol awkward when the pre recorded vocals started playing at the start.
They have a lot of multi-part vocal harmonies (and only one singer).
Look at the description, might explain a lot.
Boba Fett Amazing how that works, huh?
I love Papa Emeritus ll.
The Best !!!
I always like watching the people in the audience's hands, it's like some kind of awkward dance in itself.
I like his Papa III persona better. Probably because I didn't discover them until then lol
lol someone played the wrong backing track.. :)
1:48 all most had a hear attack
The true image of the Pope finally comes to light
1:48 fail
But a great recovery. ;)
AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
What fail? Didn't he play that slower intentionally?
Lehtokurppa Von Fön I don’t think so man. Felt pretty failllllish to me. But good recovery.
Lehtokurppa Von Fön actually listening to it again, it was pretty precise. Not sure why he did it that way and not shocked over never heard them do it that way again. Here’s to trying new things. Lol
mano essa deve ter sido o melhor show do ghost... TODO VÍDEO É MUITO PICA, CARALHO
It happens sometimes...they are awesome and they handled it like pros.
The sound guy was fired after this.
ESweden by Emerald MC prob sacrificed
@@TJmusic24 😂
awesome!
2020 still ghost?
this is my favorite...
Where was this audio and video clarity for this show...that is missing in the 4-14 CA shows?
What?
of course, what else would it be?
Is this Papa I or II?
Papa II
exelente que vinieran a colombia
Good now, great then.😊
If Black Sabbath and Cheap Trick had a baby........
yeah, I love ghost, from argentina
i´m from argentina too, and i love them
0:55 osea que todo este tiempo estaban haciendo play back?
this is the only time I ever seen them mess up a little but man who gives a shit what a great show
If I was blind folded, I woukd swear it was Eric Bloom singing
I've thought there was some Blue Oyster Cult flavor to Ghost's music. Didn't notice about the vocals, but in general feel.
his metal voice doesnt sound real, hes using soundeffect right?
Yup. Alot of pre recored vocals for certain parts
real, real good!!!!! \m/
They look way heavier than they sound
I thought that, but now that I listen too then I think their look suits them perfectly. Over the top and almost silly but still fucking creepy. Shit their first album almost has Scooby Doo vibes going on. And like, you could totally see papa being a Scooby Doo Villain. If we pull off papas mask and makeup he's probably the gardener. It's always the fucking gardener.
Joder, soy cristiano y no sé como me puede gustar esto :D!!!!
Badass
Papa II was hot
lml, gooooddd ..... love ghost
Yes
