    Thanks for the video. Hopefully, we can get the Ontario Science Centre reopened. The closing of it was too shady and confusing.

    Wow, what demolition! Not only one, Multiple places I used to live in various neighbourhoods over the years have been torn down for this construction mega project...pretty massive to say the least! I also find it interesting to see how they are using some pretty vast amounts of existing underground infastructure in the downtown, despite how crammed it appears...great vid!

    When they extend Sheppard east and westwards, with ridership projections they should extend the Ontario Line to Fairview/Don Mills to boost ridership and gain better connections. being able to connect to 4 TTC lines than just 3. Not soon of course maybe the next decade, for it’s still early stages building this pause currently.

    This is great for Toronto, but most traffic begins from Burlington, Pekering, Markham, and as far as Newmarket due to bad urban planning creating suburb sprawl. This has to be GTA subway and we need to have better urban planing less dependence on the automobile. All neighbourhoods, east of 404/DVP, west of 427 and north of 401 are creating traffic. This short sighted strategy that Toronto has all the benefits of subways and not increase similar plans to areas that desperately need it more.

    I have no idea why they moved the GO Transit platforms at Exhibition to the east. It makes them for less easier to get people to spread out along. Where they were originally meant that people accessed the platforms closer to the middle of the trains.

    shame it doesn't extend to the Shepherd line, but I love to see new transit lines being built. Especially subways/metro lines. All these headaches we get when we implement light rail trying to do the job of a subway. Look at London, Paris, and Rome, cities with histories centuries and millennia older than Toronto, yet they dig, they don't stop digging and building new transit and metro lines. I hope this is a renaissance in Canadian transit building. We are slowly rebuilding our expertise and muscle memory in transit building, learning from out mistakes, and we begin to build better and smarter, and for a cheaper per KM cost. We need to constantly be planning for the next phases to keep momentum. Is Ontario Line West extension in the works? What's next in queue? All levels of government need to accept this all as a fact of life, and budget for it for the next 20-30 years. It costs billions, and it's gonna cost billions more, but the ROI on building the veins of your city is immense when done right. When convenient transit is everywhere, driving all of a sudden is the lesser convenient option, and that's tipping point we should be trying to achieve.

    While I do Agree that Transitthinker is doing the Job that Commercial Media should be doing but isn't, the bad part is that this ill conceived and Rushed "Subway" project seems to be destroying far more than it is creating and th value of what it is mostly destroying is essentially priceless...The Transit line needed to be built but NO WAY should have it been built like this... This thing is so so so Overbuilt...For Example the Moss Park Station should be a Pop Up Station that integrates into the Corner like you see all through Europe and even here on the Bloor Danforth and much of the Old Yonge University Spadina line but instead it has completely wipe out half of the Park including a dozens of Trees and is gonna be just Overwhelming to that area...This thing should have been lean and mean with finesse and grace but it is just an unwieldly grotesque freak project that won't go down very well over the coming decades...

    Metrolinx lying to the residents, confiscating their properties after telling them they were in the clear.
    And to add just a little more insult, offer to sell their own properties back to them at a later date, at a greatly inflated cost.
    Profiteering from the deliberate mis-use of expropriation legislation.
    .
    Yeah. doing such a bang-up job on this line.

    • @Itsmytest
      @Itsmytest 2 місяці тому

      @@TMBpk You're one of the very few random commenters I've seen on any video about transit expansion in the GTA on YT in the last few years, who actually understands that there's more to this than just "Metrolinx BAD". Metrolinx isn't actually the problem here.
      For the edification of our misguided friend: Eglinton Crosstown is being built by a consortium of four equal partners (they own 25% each), and supported by at least two dozen more contractors, subcontractors, and consultants. Metrolinx and IO are the project sponsors, and TTC is the operator. At Crosslinx, the delay is strictly attributed to SNC's inability to properly build a transit line when in cooperation with other partners. They feel - and still feel - that they're the owners of this project. They've provided over 80% of the facilities, staffing and equipment to Crosslinx's design, construction and maintenance divisions. The TTC has very strict operating and safety procedures, and while it can be argued that they meddled with the project - and they did - they also have the final word on whether or not the line is safe for use. This is partly why Sloane station was rebuilt (among other technical reasons).
      In fact, if you compare every other major transit project in Ontario right now, the only two that have SNC-Lavalin in their consortiums are Crosslinx building Line 5, and Rideau Transit Group, building Line 1. Incidentally, those are the two projects with the biggest failures, the longest delays, and the largest budgets, compared to any other transit project (under construction or completed) in Ontario.
      It's easy to call for Phil Verster's head and to call for abolishing Metrolinx, but they're finally meeting the promise they were intended to keep: unified, electronic fare systems with cheaper fares; more connected routes and faster options; electrifying GO transit; building subways. Bitching about Metrolinx is a little like calling for the abolishment of the NHL, because the Leaf's haven't won a cup since the 60's. It's insane and uneducated.
      Finally: at the height of the construction, the Eglinton Crosstown was the largest and most expensive transit project in North America. You can't build a subway overnight - and certainly not in 2024, where the standards aren't like they were in 1954. This was not an easy project, run by four companies who did not get along, and the only hope now is that Metrolinx fines Crosslinx so severely, that it drives SNC out of business. It won't be good for the other three partners, and I'm sure Spain never wants to work in Toronto ever again.
      So yeah: for our friend @trainglen22 (ironic handle) - your anger is misplaced. Smoke a joint and chill out. If Rome were built in a day, you'd never want to visit it for fear of your own safety.
