      @@deformitygurubashiabsolutely, I will call out bullshit when I see it . I've been in martial arts all my life , what I just witnessed in this video was a demonstration of two girls showing everyone that they were barely trained at all and on top of that it doesn't appear they understand the basic concept of martial arts . This is more like a ghetto street fight with no thought, no power , no skill. It's obvious. With the proper instruction these two girls would benefit much more than what is going on here .

      all they did is block the head kicks because that was the only threat🤣 actually terrible fighting and instruction to be having them fighting like that. “we’re gonna simulate a fight but take away the most common thing in any fight, you’re only allowed to do the big flashy moves we teach that have never worked in mma because they don’t work”

      ​@@baxterbingus I agree they should learn to defend punches to the head, but what did they do that wouldn't work in MMA. Body punches work, roundhouse kicks work, and the spinning head kicks are less common but they also work (Barbosa vs Etim is probably the best known example)

    Kyokushin is so bad ass. Just recently started watching more of it on UA-cam and it definitely puts some respect on karate’s name.

      @@elitemation I'm a 4th dan in Goju. And I have painfully had to teach self-defense to 120 pound women knowing it would do them no good if a large man on the street wanted to mug them.
      Thankfully I no longer teach this class.

      @@johnreidy2804 We are debating the fact that you took “killers” literally. No doubt, they are not able to beat one. There is a difference between a martial art like Kyo-Karate and real life self defence lessons. I am a Muay Thai fighter myself and I don’t bring other people down by saying they cant beat a 200 pound man whenever they are doing a sport where fighting a 200 pound man is NOT their goal.

    I did kyokushin for many years, but the lack of punching to the head is a bad habit to learn. I eventually left for more of an MMA education.

      @@user-fc6im1fj8f it trains them to not respect the hands....it is a bad habit. and that is maybe why they also lack distance management and footwork....thowing kicks in boxing range with no set up...with that footwork and missing respect for hands you will get fucked up against nearly any untrained male....and that defeats the purpose of all that training. the ability to defend yourself

      They blocked numerous head kicks, even deceptive ones, with ease which implies that they can also block punches to the head.

    Props to the full contact sparring but so many bad habits are being ingrained when you dont have to be defensively responsible against punches to the head. A punch to the head is literally the most common strike in real fighting

      Just to add this : it’s not full contact It’s dojo sparring it’s to help with range and distance. And attitude trust me they know how to punch as well.😂😂

      Most people in a bare knuckle fight actually avoid punching the head too much to prevent damage to the hands (this is why many martial arts including boxing before gloves were widely used in regulation matches strike using the soft meaty part of the palm when attacking the head)

      I got a friend who naturally doesn't cover his head. He wants to do kyokoshin now. As a shotokan guy i tend to know where my target is with him. Doesn't last long

    Every kyokushin stylist i ever sparred, knew how to strike to the head as well. About as close to full contact karate as you can get while still bringing the kids along. Great work guys.

    I am a Shito Ryu myself and I practice MMA in a very good Gym under an ex Pride sensei. After getting my black belt, I was trying to connect my mma with karate a little more and I think into going to a Kyoukushin dojo. I've never been so beaten up and hurt. This guys are crazy. If you tell an oldschooler that he's not able to mend an axe using his head he will take that as a challenge and beat his forehead against the axe blade till it's curved. Crazy people, good warriors. Due to personal issues I was not able to continue, but that's a crazy style

      @@frozenf5682 I didn't know that. When I was at college (16) there was a black belt Shotokan fighter who used to spar with a lower belt guy from his club. They used to beat the snot out of each other. Maybe they do Shotokan differently here in the UK or at least used to in the 90s? It didn't look too dissimilar from the Phoenix Way vids.

    I love how for example women soccer is leagues down man soccer, but women in martial arts are so badass and skilled at the same level of men (the only difference ofc is weight and striking power although I would argue some female fighters have way more than some male fighters)

    Glad there are no head shots or punches to the face…
    the girl in the black hair did a real nice high kick to the head and returned back to her original stance so smoothly

      @@CJ-wh7ikIn kyokushin karate, you learn head strikes, but you don’t strike the head during sparing or matches because sparing is semi contact and competition is full contact with no protection. Your body can take a beating, not your face and head. Way too dangerous.

    I did kyo for years, even competed. It is a really tough art. The lack of head punches means you are really bad in cross-art fights against other strikers, but nobody drops a kyo practitioner with body punches.

    I found it odd that they won't throw a straight punch to the face, but a spinning heel kick to the face is okay

      All older styles that didn't use gloves or knuckle wrapping didn't punch in the head with a fist. It's really easy to damage your hand if the fists lands on the forehead, the skull's strongest bone, you know.
      It's in general a good idea to not punch with a fist to a solid bone, if you don't have hand protection.

      this is why karate is dead, you aren’t allowed to use what’s practical and useable because “that’s too dangerous” and they’d rather you do the big flashy moves that you taught them and look cool to someone who doesn’t train. practicality is never at the center of it and this video makes that obvious. it’s turned into a show

    For those saying the lack of head punches is not realistic well most training isn’t realistic and almost try eating body shots and leg kicks continuously for time. Also brutal training with less brain damage.

    It might doesn’t look to flashy and fancy but that’s actually how real sparring is, all those fancy moves we see in the movies is just acting choreography

    yesss kyokushin! one of the hardest and more practical styles of karate. and actually one of the few styles that was a fore founder to modern day mma.

      imagine punches to the face would be allowed...then this would not look the same in any kind of way. it makes the scenario so unrealistic...they lag distance management and footwork. specially for black belts

    Came across this on TV can only physically comment on the phone, (not good at tech'). Been aware of Kyokushin since the 1970s, (still have a book "Essential karate" by the Great Mas' Oyama. Practiced Shotokan for some time; 69 now so can only look back.So very impressed with the Karateka here! All the best to Y'All.
