Autumn in France| A village walk: Eguisheim:
Many years ago, when I was young and a lot fitter, we visited Eguisheim. I was as in awe then as I was now, older and - wiser? I also get the feeling that the village has worked hard at restoring and maintaining it's historic flavour.
What a treasure. Eguisheim is a stone's throw away from Colmar. A name more readily on people's lips. I have to say - Eguisheim deserves attention. Oh there are lots of reasons to visit Colmar, as there are to visit Eguisheim. It's pretty, it is full of history, it has storks everywhere, lots of vineyards and wineries and it has delicious food. I can highly recommend a visit to Eguisheim. I hope you enjoy the video.

Hello my friend. 🙂
What a charming place, and the food and the wine..... I won't discriminate, I would eat and drink both, haha....
It seems you had a lovely time in the village. I love the architecture there, very cozy and charming. 😀
Many thanks for bringing us with you.....
Thomas
So nice of you to support my channel Thomas and spend time watching the video. I appreciate that a lot. Ah yes the food and wine ( thank you Romans) were lovely and the village walk was amazing seeing so much in such a small place. Wishing you a good week. Thanks again. 🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝🎄
What a beautiful village! I enjoyed all the sights! The chapel was beautiful. I think my favorites were the food and all the flowers! I loved that rainbow capture at the start 😊
Thanks so much Yes, I was lucky to catch that rainbow. That in itself was a treasure. The village indeed is gorgeous. I always love a church visit- lighting candles is what I do. We sure didn't go hungry and yes even this late in the season the floral abundance was a treat. Thanks NNP for the lovely comment and your time spent watching. Much appreciated. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝

My pleasure 😊. It was a treat to visit and even more so to share. Small, tucked away about 8 km from the better known town of Colmar, this was just so gorgeous. Glad you enjoyed it too. Have a great weekend. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Lovely village..autumn in France is very pretty no doubt. Love the old architecture. It could easily be a background for some historical movie ;-)
I totally agree! And in fact it has inspired the backdrops for the movie " Beauty and the Beast. We totally enjoyed re-discovering Eguisheim since our last visit almost 20 years ago. Thanks Michael. Hope your week is going well. 🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝🎄

Again a lovely place to be! People must feel very happy here, surrounded by colourful buildings, flowers and plants, H.C. Andersen would feel very much at home here. So much remained of old age and well kept, love the church, you can walk days in circles and back again to have another view😀 just wonderful, thxs Anita❤️🙏
@@EstherHart-b9p hello Esther. Lovely to read your comment. Yes Equisheim is pretty as a picture and most enjoyable to visit. The circular walk was fabulous. We visited about 20 years ago. Hello Anita, beautiful Cosmos magenta flowers and all the other fabulous summer blooms 🌸🌸🌸 The village was so charming and picturesque ❤ I loved the gorgeous historic architecture and the quaint cobbled streets. The streets were so imaginatively decorated. It was truly idyllic 💕🌹🌺 Thank you for a delightful video 🩷
Good morning, thanks for my early morning smile - (it's almost 7am)Yes even this late int he season the planter boxes and road verges were still very pretty with all sorts of flowers. Personally, I love Cosmos - it is such an dainty flower. This area is renown for it's colourful houses and beautiful architecture. The circular streets almost hugging the centre 'square' which isn't square at all 🤣! It was a delightful visit for sure. As always I appreciate the support and wish you both a fine Friday. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Great video. Very pretty flowers and lavenders. Thank you Roman for the 🍷wine. Lovely village and yummy food. Look at those storks❤❤❤ Beautiful hydrangeas❤❤❤ I enjoyed your trip.
Betina, good morning. Thank you so much. It is almost 7am and what a lovely way to start my day. Eguisheim is just pretty as a picture and the storks just make it so fairy tale - not to mention those gorgeous houses. It was a treat to wander these streets. Thanks for the lovely comment. Ah yes Nanete, small can be BIG in beauty. Thank you for the comment and your time, while watching. Much appreciated. Have a lovely weekend. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
What a magical journey through Eguisheim! Cobbled streets, vibrant houses with flowers, this village feels straight out of a fairy tale. 🌸🏡 I loved the historical tidbits, especially about Pope Leo IX and the Roman roots. The stork park sounds so unique; too bad you didn’t get to visit, but seeing the storks around town must have been special! The circular walk through the village must have felt endless in the best way, with so much beauty to take in. Thank you for sharing such a peaceful and beautiful place.
Hi there and thank you 🙏 for the lovely comment and your support to my channel. I'm so happy to share these lovely places we get to visit. Feel quite privileged having this opportunity. It really is so beautiful here and indeed so much to see one needs longer or a revisit one day. I hope you week is going well? Thanks again for your time. 🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝🎄.
Them Romans at it again. All the buildings tell the turbulent history of the region. Thank you.
You bet, 🤣those Romans had a great idea didn't they? It's a gorgeous place full of ooohs and aahhhs with a story to tell. Thanks David. Glad you enjoyed our wee visit here. 👌🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Loving the stunning medieval streets of Eguisheim, they are truly fairy tale-eqse! Loving this series Anita. The houses are absolutely incredible to look at, the walk down the cobbled streets is my idea of a get away. I really enjoyed seeing it's character. The painted window doors are so cute teamed with lovely foliage lining the streets, just wonderful. Thank you for the beautiful tour! Autumn in France suits you!
Thank you so much Alessa and Brett! This is my sort of fairytale. I totally agree with your comment. Picturesque, well cared for, much loved and just steeped in history. We had a marvelous time and only too happy to share. Thanking you for all your support over 2024🩷. You've been amazing. 🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Hey there Anita
What a beautiful rainbow. I hope you made a wish.
The village looks so quaint and beautiful, like going back in time.
The food does look delicious.
Good you saw the storks daily.
I love all the pastels, florals and colours. I could browse there for hours.
It’s amazing how they’ve maintained all its glory!
Wonderful video sunshine. Such a beautiful wander with you. ❤
Thank you so much Sharon 🤗. I was lucky to catch that rainbow. Was a wish come true. The architecture here in this area sure is something else. Very pretty and lots more in adjoining villages. I had trouble resisting lots of those yummies. The storks were everywhere- must be a very busy baby delivery season 🤣!
The walk 'round town' was just lovely. And home owners really take pride in the appearance of their homes. It was a perfect day Sharon. We really enjoyed it and are pleased we can share it with you. Hope you are taking it a bit easier. No need to rush - the tortise and hare celebrate New year at the same time. Speed isn't everything. Have a great week. Love hearing from you. 🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝🎄
wow so beautiful sharing dear
@@antaraartcafe2 thank you so much. It is inderdaad gorgeous spot to visit. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Such a charming village! I love that there are so many flowers 🥰
That stork nest is massive. Stork is national bird in Lithuania. People consider it a good luck if storks choose to nest at their property. There are so many structures built so storks have somewhere for their nests. That's mostly for their safety and to reduce issues with electricity as they make their nests on electricity poles if there's no other suitable structure.
Hello Adrone, on the last day of 2024. What a lovely comment, Thank you. Eguisheim is gorgeous. We had a great day roaming about here. Oh I didn't know that about the storks in Lithuania. Wow that's cool. Many thanks for your support Adrone. I so enjoy your 'company' on my channel and love your videos too. Happy 2025 Adrone and wishing you many skate adventures and joy and blessings in the coming year. 🎶🇳🇱🙋♀🥝🥂
@@IamaDutch-Kiwi Thank you so much Anita! I do enjoy your virtual company too 😊 Have a wonderful 2025!
Eguisheim doesn't sound very French and more German so I guess that's why people speak both languages. I'd still be be snookered because I cannot speak either very well. Those stork nests seem to get everywhere and perched in seemingly precarious positions. The village looks lovely with lots of narrow cobbled streets with colourful decorative foliage. I'm not into Disney and all that so this place would be a no brainer for me. Always got to have a look around church. Each and everyone is so beautiful and unique. Oh and what did the Romans ever do for us 🙂
@@TheHikingHermit The Alsace ping ponged German - French for some time. The Alsace territory became French again after WWI. Both languages can be heard here. Our German is better than our French and English did well here too. Indeed, and a stork isn’t a tiny bird yet their nests are huge. The village was ever so pretty - bit busy for Hermits I think 🤔 …though evenings might be quieter. Besuty is in the eys of the beholder…and beautiful Eguisheim is for sure. Those Romans sure got around. And here in the Alsace, they produced wine.😂😂! Lovely to hear from you Paul. Hope it’s warmer your way…still grey and dismal here. 👌🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
@@IamaDutch-Kiwi ah it's been sunny here today and that package I spoke of is on its way 🙂I don't mind a glass of red wine from time to time. I might have to try a glue wine again sometime ha ha
@ 🤣🤣🍷. Oh exciting ✉️. I’ll keep you posted. 👌
This really is a cute village Anita. I would rather this than Disney any day of the week. It's so nice to see a community so proud of how their village looks. They have taken good care, no matter where you go in the village. Beautiful video. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you so much 🤗 John. Gosh lovely to hear from you. I hope you are enjoying your summer. I'm sorry I haven't been around. It's not been my year for being organised or focussed. Had a loss which sort of threw me. This tripw as a great way to take a breather and doing it in such beautiful surroundings really helped. The pretty houses, the flowers and even the narrow streets all put a smile on my dial. I'm glad I got to share that. Many thanks for your loyalty and support John. I'm on my way to better my ways. Have a wonderful weekend. 🩷🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Oh Anita, it looks so beautiful here in the Autumn, such interesting history too and its great that the Romans gave you the wine 🍷 😃Love the architecture and the music was perfect for this :) Gorgeous flowers around and the church was so lovely. I really enjoyed this. Need to visit 😃 ~ Anna❤
Anna and Alf, thank you. Yes, it was hard to think it being Autumn with the temperatures we had. Such a pearl to visit. So pleased I managed to share such a lovely place including the lovely church. Good morning Beverly( it is 6:49 am here) What a lovely comment to wake up to. Yes, we too love this area and it's beauty. No matter what season it is just gorgeous here. Thank you for this lovely comment and your friendly support. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Apologies Anita watched this last night was sure I left a comment but can’t see it! This tickled us every time you say the name of the place we say ‘Bless you’ as it sounds like you are sneezing 🤧 😂 Gorgeous town though very picturesque and quite medieval in places! You got some great shots! The stalks in the nest wow! So much history some great narration and information! Thanks Anita ❤
@@GENerationXplorers yes I have heard that about the 🤧. I do keep a hanky handy just in case. It is so pretty and well kept. The storks are pretty bust delivering at the moment. Some of the nests were empty. We loved or visit - having been here about 20 years ago. Thanks for the lovely comment, and I appreciate the time you spend supporting the channel. Enjoy the weekend. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
What an awesome Autumn travelling vlog this has been! Do keep up the amazing work, friends! Stay safe and stay connected~
Thank you Groundbreakerexplore! Much appreciate the support 👌. Thanks for taking the time to watch and drop by. Have a great week! 🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Reminisces my summer last year indeed ❤❤❤ We walked as a cirlcle and came back to the same place at the beginning without realising it😅 Because the town and the route is round and houses look quite similar (there were a lot of flowers also)
I think I had lunch exactly at that place where they sold the quiches on your clip 🥰🥰
Happiness indeed. No need Disney Land because this’s a real fairy land. Thank you Anita!! 🙏🙏🥰🥰
Maia, what a lovely comment to read so early this Friday morning (7:13 am) It made me smile. So glad this video brought back special memories. The wee cobbled streets were so lovely to follow - the houses so well kept and a treat to admire.
I can imagine you, enjoying lunch, there with your friend. How special.
Beauty is all around us if we care to look. Having said that, my husband just spent 3 days in Euro Disney ( Paris) as a support person for people with (dis)abilities. He said how happy and in awe they were seeing all there was to see. I'll put a short up sometime today of the light show.
Have a lovely day Maia. It was a pleasure to read your comment. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
@ That’s so kind of him for the support to disable people 🙏❤️ I miss Alsace area so much now after watching the clip and thinking how nice it would be now with a lot of Xmas deco and traditional food! Myself, as always, been sick again for 2 whole days and only sleeping. At least no hard work these days and we had unexpected rain for 2 evening which is so good for my trees 🎊🙏🥰
This is very close to Colmar! The area is really nice, and we would love to go back and re-visit in the warmer months! So, I'm watching your video and then the shot at 8:59 comes up and I realize this town was one of our stops on a Christmas tour we took that visited the towns around Colmar. We were told that building in the middle of the street was a pigeon coop, and the street was used as the inspiration in Beauty and the Beast. Then I noticed the shop to the right "Le Pigeonner" that we went in. Funny, we stood right where you did. Guess we both were lucky this year to have experienced this lovely town. Thanks for sharing!
Yes Steve, about 8km from Colmar depending from which direction you come from. Love the idea we shared footsteps. There will no doubt be more once you went to Colmar. And you are right about the gathered information. We were here about 20 years ago. It re-awakened the memories. Glad you enjoyed your tour here too. Aren't we just lucky to have been in this neck of the woods ( spot in the world). It is just so gorgeous. Have a great week. Thanks for the support. 🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝🎄

Awesome Billy. Appreciate your support. Have a great weekend. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Sorry. What was the name of the town at the start? I didn't hear because you sneezed when you were saying it. 😂
Someone tell those cars that they're all driving on the wrong side of the road! 😲
You're asking me to think Anita?? It's midway through December. All my thinking is used up for the year.
Flowers at 1:56 will please Dara. 2:02 Are they actual depictions of the Gaul tribes? The Romans got as far as Newcastle then stopped. I suppose that's why we drink beer here and not wine.
Wait. That post is stopping the bar from turning on the screw press. Someone read the plans wrong again! 17:63? That's about 3 minutes past 6. 😂😂
Can't hear you after the winery. Music drowns you out until 3:51.
It's a bit different to the usual French village. More colourful. Used to be in Germany. That explains that.
6:44 Pesky tourists with smartphones getting in the way of people making videos! I have never fancied going to Disneyland.
7:50. What are all those cuddly toys doing up there under the windows? That teddy bear looks like he's plotting a revolution! 8:20 Is that a little door above the door? The cuddly toys secret hideout perhaps??
Pigeonneer and other bird stuff at 9:25. Significant? 9:40. More teddy bear secret doors.
9:57 Ah ha. That explains all about the birds, but what about the cuddly toy army?
Problems saying precipitation? Should have recorded that before you visited the winery. 😂
I'll bet more people visit churches since the invention of the smartphone than have done in the previous 50 years.
Boppy- what can I say? Guilty as charged to the accusations above. Just kidding...but I'll have to watch the video as I respond so I can respond adequately. I'll also need coffee. It is 7:55 am and I have just spent 3/4 hour answering other comments. BrB
It was the pollen that made me 😤, or was it the 'guisheim'.
I thought those cars were on the right side Boppy.
What do you think of Eguisheim by the way? Let me know in January.
Those Romans knew what they were doing- and stopped moving on just in time.
Dara and flowers- 🌺 Always think of her on my trips.
I think 1763 is possibly too far to think back- not being able to think
The music was meant to drown me out
Haha, yes that young lady was always one step ahead.
Glad those soft toys were there- nothing like having something soft falling on your head instead of hard.
Those cuddly toys went with the storks on their delivery rounds.
You could be right about the church visits and phones.
I read between the lines that you must have enjoyed the video- presumptuous of me I know. Lovely to hear from you Boppy. I'll pop over for something to have with my coffee later today. 🍰☕️. Enjoy your Friday Boppy. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
