Kennedy Center Tonight Lionel Hampton & Friends 1982

FULL-MOTION VIDEO BEGINS AT 0:56. From my collection of off-the-air VHS recordings. Unfortunately, I only caught four tunes; and, two of them are abridged. The first tune, "Things Ain't What They Used to Be", has been posted before with a a large water mark. I believe the sound is also better in this recording --- about as much as we could get with a VCR in the early 1980's, before the stereo machines came on the market. The other complete tune is "Ease on Down the Road" from "The Wiz", featuring Stephanie Mills. One of the other fragments is definitely "Flying Home"; and, I think about all that is missing is the head.. The musicians include Dave Brubeck, Illinois Jacquet, Zoot Sims, Clark Terry, Ron Carter, Milt Hinton, Al Grey, George Wein, Louie Bellson and, of course, Lionel Hampton (HE DANCES TOO!) WNEW disc jockey, William B. Williams, can be heard making introductions and identifying soloists.
