That's one of the best albums ever recorded . Listen to it from start to finish. Southern rock at its best. Duane and Dickey egging each other on on those guitars.
SURE the Allman Bros have this vibe!! Listen to all of the first 3 tracks of Live At the Fillmore: Statesboro Blues, Done Somebody Wrong, and the famous Stormy Monday. They will get you in a great mood.
One of the most entertaining and informative documentaries I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing the amount of talented people produced tons of hits out of Fame Studios. I’ve watched it several times.
Best Blues Band ever. Duane and Greg Allman both gone, Dickie Betts is gone, and most everyone else has also passed away. First heard them back in 1971 while doing my tour in Vietnam. A couple Beers, a few tokes, and some Allman Bros music in the background got us through that ugly war.
This song is a blues standard of unknown origin. The first recorded version is by Sunny Boy Williams. Legendary harmonica player in the late 1930s. During the 60s he toured Europe with the stones and zeppelin. 😎
From the Eat A Peach album. I still have this vinyl and showed my granddaughter the cover. She's a graphic artist and she loved the inside cover! Just as artistic as the band themselves.
I saw the Allman Brothers 6 times at The University of Miami. Every time was incredible but I can't say who was best. The Allman Brothers was up there. No one live was better than Santana. I lived through the 70's and 80's I rocked out!
I can remember being a kid and my Uncle Thomas asking me "Do you want to hear some good music " then playing the Allman Bros. Eat A Peach album and being blown away ! God rest your soul Uncle for turning me on to some of the best music in my life .
I first heard "live at Filmore East " in 1997. It melted my face off. After several reconstructive surgeries, and skin grafts from various exotic rare animals, I still can't get my face right. Allman Btothers for life!❤
WOW, great song guys!! This is classic Allman Brothers. So many good tunes from this concert and album. Gregg's voice is perfect as is Duane's guitar. Thanks so much for reacting to it!!❤
The original Allman Brothers Band is the best in that genre and are all time legends. This song is a perfect example. They can play some of the very best, deepest blues rock around, try Ain't My Cross to Bear and be blown away. Despite personnel changes over time, they were great all the way to the end in the past decade. Forever music, enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
they played for my high school senior dance. 1970 in St Augustine, fl. listened to them a few times at st augustine beach when they were The Second Coming.
This song was actually played at the Live at the Fillmore East concert, but not releasedon that album. They held it and put it on the Eat a Peach album; both albums are some of the best you can find.
I was at this concert at The Fillmore East in New York in '71( was 14 and snuck in with my older brother who was 15). The Allman Brothers and others - Charlie Daniels, The Marshall Tucker Band, Leslie West etc. - played what at the time was called, "Southern Rock".
Allman Brothers solos will never disappoint, especially when Duane and Dickey were in the band. They played a very limited setlist, but they would attack each song differently each night. This version of One Way Out was recorded on June 27, 1971, three and a half months before their more famous Fillmore East live recordings made up the Live at Fillmore East album. They did play One Way Out during that March run, but it was new to the repertoire, and not nearly as explosive as the one used for Eat a Peach (and subsequently used on Fillmore East rereleases, which confuses things a bit more). Dickey's solo in this one is just searing hot. He passed away in May of this year, and was an underrated guitarist and composer. He wrote some incredible instrumental pieces, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed being just the first of many. Some were haunting ike Liz Reed, others joyous like Jessica, always well crafted and intricate. Dickey used to hate being called a Southern Rock band, preferring to say the Allmans were "a progressive rock band from the South".
Greatest band ever incredible musicians . The original jam band so tight so on point the recording of this album was done by Tom Dowd a master of recording…. never heard better…. been my favorite since 1970
There are two legendary bands that put "Southern Rock" on the map in America, both coming from Jacksonville, Florida that formed in the late 1960's. One was Lynyrd Skynyrd and the other was the Allman Brothers Band. Both bands incorporate Rock, Jazz & Blues into their music and are known for their "jamming sessions". No auto tune or fake instruments...just pure musical talent and poetry at its finest!
From the Live at the Fillmore concerts. They were at their height. Such a loss when Duane a Barry passed at such a young age. Go see the Tedeschi Trucks Band for music like this still performed.
BJ this is the song you put on when cruising on your Harley-Davidson with Asia riding on back, holding on tight, cruising across Texas. You also know it's a Blues Rock song when you hear the Slide Guitar sounds in the song. When it comes to Southern Blues Rock, it doesn't get much better than The Allman Brothers Band!
Two lead guitarists in that band, and two drummers. The video of this performance can be found on you tube, if you aren't seeing it like your viewers aren't, worth a watch.
I love the look on Asia's face as she gradually confirms that indeed she's about to hear some ass kicking blues vocals and guitars, and her smile keeps getting bigger and bigger
First saw The ABB in 1977, at a show with The Edgar Winter Group, an odd billing if you ask me. Seen them a few times since, and they are always on top of their game. With Dickey Betts (RIP), Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, I missed Duane Allman, sadly, their Guitar work is among the best in the game. Two Drummers, Jaimoe Johnny Johnson and Butch Trucks, Derek's uncle, and the great Gregg Allman on Keys and Vocals, and Otiel Burbage on Bass, when i saw them, he's busy with other things right now, aka Dead and Company, just an amazing collection of musicians. "Live At The Fillmore East", one of the best LIVE albums ever recorded. Try "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", an instrumental, fairly long, but great.
I was so enjoying the song with y'all BJ and Asia! I love your reaction! I'm with BJ -- I love that so traditional blues ending and wonder if there is a name for it. I'm glad that I have loved a song for so long that legitimately applied that ending, and it's always great to see someone else get the gift of, not only the song, but that amazing ending for the first time!
Dickey Betts on lead guitar, Duane Allman on slide guitar, Gregg Allman on keys and vocals. All of are them gone, but the band and their spirit carry on today.
Classic roots blues - "Ain't no way I'm goin' out that front door.." With a technical proficiency that will never be matched. Two fire lead guitars, two fire drummers, fire bass, and Greg with his bluesy world-weary Deep South vocals and mellow organ fills. Damn I miss the Brothers. Greatest album ever recorded (Live at the Fillmore). No weak spots, it burns all the way through
The double live album from the Fillmore east ! Sublime . Caught them live in New Jersey around the same time as this album . I was 21 then now I’m 74 and it still excites me.
If you guys have time you need to check out the song mountain jam off of this live album it's basically a long drum solo with instruments in between if it's too long to do a reaction just sit back and listen to it by yourselves guarantee you'll be blown away❤❤❤❤
EVERYTHING from this album is incredible.
That's one of the best albums ever recorded . Listen to it from start to finish. Southern rock at its best. Duane and Dickey egging each other on on those guitars.
I second that comment
Third. Stormy Monday is also a great song off that album
That version of Whipping Post...
I'll go with that!
Yes THE BEST!!!
Listening to the Brothers live, I close my eyes, I'm back to 1970, I'm 18 again, watching them onstage again.
Best live band I ever saw!
Same here.
Old timer. Geezer
You know it brother!
One of the first bands with 2 drummers. Just brilliant.
Great headphones band! Their mixes are superb, incredible separation and soundscape. Those guys were genius level and they were just jamming!
SURE the Allman Bros have this vibe!! Listen to all of the first 3 tracks of Live At the Fillmore: Statesboro Blues, Done Somebody Wrong, and the famous Stormy Monday. They will get you in a great mood.
“Trouble No More” also a Banger!
This IS the Allman Brothers vibe!
Amen
I just turned 68 this summer, so I was in high school when this came out ... THIS is THE #1 song for me from those times !!! ❤❤❤
Let's not forget to phenomenal drum duo of Butch Trucks and Jai Johhny Johnson!! Awesome choice... Thank You 🙏
hard to believe Jaimoe is the last surviving member at 7 yrs old
Please watch the documentary Muscle Shoals. It's soooooo good and will teach you things about American music you didn't know!
One of the most entertaining and informative documentaries I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing the amount of talented people produced tons of hits out of Fame Studios. I’ve watched it several times.
@@davidchapman2213 I even bought it on DVD.
Love the way you guys really dig what you're hearing.
These are the classics I grew up with.
And, now there yours. Enjoy !
I was a gator boy in my youthful times. They were one of the original jam blues performers. Bring God with you.
No digital editing, no pitch correction. Pure talent. When live recordings happened back then it was done in one take.
BJ, you are absolutely correct on what you were hearing. It's a fusion of Blues and Rock. No one did it better than the Allman Bros Band
Two guitarists, Duane on slide, Dickey on guitar and Greg’s voice, Butch, Johanny on drums, Berry on bass! Nothin better!!
Dickey and Berry could sing too.
Listen to Berry's lead vocal on "Hoochie Coochie Man." Just as soulful as Gregg.
Jaimo
Great choice among soo many more!
The Filmore East album best live album I have ever heard. Thank you for giving it a spin.
That one and Dire Straits‘s alchemy are the two best live albums I’ve ever heard. (OK maybe Stop Making Sense too…)
She was right in pointing out the high musicianship. Nobody today no band plays as well.
Check out Tedeschi Trucks Band... not saying they are ABB, but you will dig it.
"The turnaround." Blues music structure: "8 bars and a turnaround." Love you guy's reactions. Rock on!
This song is a blues standard of unknown origin. The first recorded version is by Sunny Boy Williams. Legendary harmonica player in the late 1930s. During the 60s he toured Europe with the stones and zeppelin. 😎
The best live album ever. Period.
From the Eat A Peach album. I still have this vinyl and showed my granddaughter the cover. She's a graphic artist and she loved the inside cover! Just as artistic as the band themselves.
I miss real LP covers soooo much. I remember flippin' thru the albums in a bin... pure greatness.
Lawd have mercy! Still awesome! 🔥💯
This is 🔥🔥🔥love this band
One of thee greatest bands of ALL time.
gotta say I ain't no dancer but when the Allman Brothers get it cranked up my feet start flying!
Love your honest heartfelt reactions guys!
Best live album ever! Duane Allman 24, Greg 21, RIP Duane, Greg, Dickey, Butch!! Love ya Jai Johnny!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Southern Rock at It's Finest!!
Funny cuz they didn’t want to be known as a Southern Rock band, they considered themselves a Blues Rock band.
I saw the Allman Brothers 6 times at The University of Miami. Every time was incredible but I can't say who was best. The Allman Brothers was up there. No one live was better than Santana. I lived through the 70's and 80's I rocked out!
It doesn’t get any better than the Allman Brothers band!, Unless maybe perhaps seeing them live like I did way back in the day!😁
You cannot go wrong with the Allman Brothers! They are the OG of Southern Rock!
This is as good as any live album you’ll hear… it’s also as good an album you’ll hear period. 🔥
Allman Btothers for life!❤
😂😂😂
Duane Alman & Dickey Betts 😮🎸🎼
Love it. This is down home southern rock with some blues, and the instrumentation is outstanding. Make you wanna boogie.
This is such a great jam!!
WOW, great song guys!! This is classic Allman Brothers. So many good tunes from this concert and album. Gregg's voice is perfect as is Duane's guitar. Thanks so much for reacting to it!!❤
Dickey Betts' live tone on that first guitar solo is EVERYTHING! Swampy, warm and dripping fat! And then there's Duane!
So so sweet!
You gotta watch it live!!! Great stuff!
I love the way you love this song. God bless you
Need to see the video of them performing. Love Allman Bros
You made a wonderful observation- the performance is "so vivid, you can damn near see it."
One of the great things about the allmans is that they turned on a whole new generation to depth of classic blues.
Lol the crescendo is that the word you’re thinking for the end of the song. it actually means gradually building or getting louder in the Wikipedia.
Saw them many many times over the years! Great great memories and great band ❤
they played for my high school senior dance. 1970 in St Augustine, fl. listened to them a few times at st augustine beach when they were The Second Coming.
Dicky Betts and Duane Allman on those guitars. Love it. Thats some down south music right there.
Liked before I heard it! You rock!
That's what I'm talking about, some Rock and Roll....
Such an amazing album

Some bands just hit different live…They are top tier ✌️☮️
Greatest band ever incredible musicians . The original jam band so tight so on point the recording of this album was done by Tom Dowd a master of recording…. never heard better…. been my favorite since 1970
A guy I worked with said this Fillmore concerts was the first concert he ever went to. Well, how do you follow this up?? Magic. Thanks.
Been waiting on this one. Love it!!🤠
This is the music I grew up on the quality of the musicianship is unmatched the best music ever made.
Thank you! You get it about the live version! Been a fan since 1970's! One of THE greatest American bands of ALL-TIME!
It doesn't get much better than this! Rock on.

Check out the rest of that album. One of the best live albums ever made!
Y’all won’t be disappointed!
One of the greatest live performances of all time, in my opinion. The whole album's fantastic.
53 years ago....and STILL cool AF! 😊
Our band just added this to the set list last Saturday and I played it with a band in Chicago many years ago. Always so much fun to play on drums!
They do have a video of this performance... It's fun watching it.
Love how diverse you guys are can tell music soothes your souls. Would love to see you listen to The Outlaws “Green Grass and High Tides”
I have to be in the right frame of mind to work - Certain music gets me there... This album is in heavy rotation in my shop.
From the Live at the Fillmore concerts. They were at their height. Such a loss when Duane a Barry passed at such a young age. Go see the Tedeschi Trucks Band for music like this still performed.
This song and Blue Sky, off the same album, are my favorite Allman Brothers tunes, and IMO, two of the best Southern rock songs ever recorded 🤘
yes.... turn it up!!!
Saw them several times and the sound was so clean, the 70s were great for music
Two lead guitarists in that band, and two drummers. The video of this performance can be found on you tube, if you aren't seeing it like your viewers aren't, worth a watch.
I love the call and response between Dickey and Duane.
Great pick.
one of my top 5 bands of all time...Duane Allman on that slide guitar, Duane was a GOAT!
I love the look on Asia's face as she gradually confirms that indeed she's about to hear some ass kicking blues vocals and guitars, and her smile keeps getting bigger and bigger

"Live At The Fillmore East", one of the best LIVE albums ever recorded. Try "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", an instrumental, fairly long, but great.
Southern, country, blues rock!!
The greatness of the ending brings tears to my eyes. Like was said by others, whisks me back to my teen days. Saw them live summer of 71.
Considered to be the greatest live album ever recorded...I would Say it IS the greatest.
end of the song breakdown is called the outro as apposed to the beginning which is the intro
Oh yeah I was there🎉🎉
I was so enjoying the song with y'all BJ and Asia! I love your reaction! I'm with BJ -- I love that so traditional blues ending and wonder if there is a name for it. They have two drummers and they are amazing
One of the best!!! Right on guys.
Love this entire album...what a blast!
They could literally play any genre of music.
Just brilliant, just damn brilliant!
The double live album from the Fillmore east ! Sublime . Caught them live in New Jersey around the same time as this album . I was 21 then now I’m 74 and it still excites me.

All their music is like this. Their live music is the best. Statesboro Blues
