    Not a problem! You carry it for a few minutes then rest a few minutes. Carry it a few then rest a few! Before ya know it, you are to the truck with a great artifact!! I have done it a few times!

    I can't believe you'd have to think about whether or not to carry that out, two miles or not! So cool! Watching all of these videos I did expect to find arrowheads every time out, but I have been skunked since June. The bugs have finally died down here in Indiana, and I've been on three 4-hour walks the last couple of weeks and have found ZERO. That's how it goes, I guess. I really enjoy your videos. I used to live in Tulsa. Good luck on your next hunts. Bryan

      👉 Now you know why the ancient Indians left it right there instead of carrying it with them. Probably because their trucks were even further than 2 miles away!

    • @TheChristonline
      @TheChristonline 2 роки тому +1

      @@HighlanderNorth1 It got left there because their bison died and the bison would carry the heavy stuff back to the truck.

      Neither rain nor sleet nor politicians could keep me from carrying that stellar example of kitchen equipment home to sit in an exalted spot in my collection. That’s so nice they probably ordered that from William-Sonoma or somewhere, the things we take for granted in the grocery store took a lot more elbow grease back then, a 5 lb bag of corn meal, how long to grind on that beauty? We’re just now getting crops cut and some discing, be a while before I can start walking ten miles a day hoping to find something as great, enjoy following your walks.

    The metate is sick. I have theory about the pits on the back side of them. I believe that they drove stakes in the ground and the holes went over top of the stakes. The very thick ones usually don't have holes pecked into them. The thinner ones do have them. Just my thoughts on them. Best of luck 👍☮️

      I am not sure I agree with your theory. That metate weighed 30 pounds and is likely to not move its position when in use. It certainly wouldn't need to be balanced on sticks. I am thinking the holes are a permanent means of identifying it as a personal possession.

    The pain of carrying the bison skulls or metate back to the truck is temporary. Saving history from destruction is worth it. I keep a sturdy packable nylon backpack strapped to my day hiking rig....not sure it would fit a scull, but that metate would and 2 miles isn't that far. Great video. You guys in the middle of the country and the Plains are so, so lucky to be in an artifact rich environment. Here in the Northern Great Basin, we have to hike long and look hard for our rewards. Thanks for sharing, love seeing your saves.
