I recently received a couple of chisels this size in a lot I bought from Japan. What do you think these small chisels would have traditionally been used for? The small handles makes me think that maybe they were meant for children learning carpentry skills in school. I thought maybe they were for very detailed work (miniatures?), but you can find chisels down to 1.5mm in the standard oiire size, so I'm not sure if that is it.
They say the steel hammer must strike the handle cleanly and straight but a film of a fine Japanese craftsman shows him hitting with the edge of the hammer .
Nice restorations

Great restore. The black wood is not ebony, it’s wenge. Cheers
Wonderful! Congratulations! Obrigado por compartilhar.
Бутафория ,но очень красивая и органичная работа.
Согласен, очень трудоёмкая, но бесполезная работа.

Nice work but why hammer the handle in this way??? 😢 You damage your edge. Hurts to see.
Araldite or Kwik Wood putty for a good fit .
뭐랄까?
